Why is it more than half the games I get into I am playing with the dumbest window licking idiots and the enemy team is full of people with mics and no guests who are apparently amazing at the game… I thought its supposed to balance teams, not stick you with people who do nothing at all to help out the team. I shouldnt have to play with a party to get a fair balanced game…
The ranking system, is not close to the way it should be. I’ll say it again, the Halo 2 system used a complex algorithm but it worked perfectly.
After about a month, everyone was in or near their level Window in most playlists. One of the main reasons being, 22-25 was around the average, which it what it should be. The average on Halo 4 is going to be in the mid to upper 30s and all that does is create a broken bell curve. This game has too many 50s. It should be VERY HARD to reach a 50, only 10-15% should be able to do so per play list.
I can explain your problem, it’s because some people don’t play some gametypes. Some of my buddies only like CTF or OBJ, yet I don’t play them very often. I’m a 50 INF, 50 BT IN, 47 SWAT but since I dont play the other very often I’m a 15 OBJ and 18CTF. To me, the games are boring as well, just dumping on people over and over again, is honestly boring. I would rather play good games that are close throughout the game.
It is getting to the point were I don’t even want to play because it is not fun. Every game my teammates are terrible and the enemy just spawn kills us or locks down the map and I can either stay and get worked or leave and get nothing. I’m losing my faith in Halo
After TU i tried to jump into the BTB list…I managed a 49/9 and we won by a very small margin, in fact everybody had negative stats but me…Seriously teams are so utterly unbalanced it aint even funny to play team based matches
I believe this is partly due to CSR being even more heavily influenced in the matchmaking process now. By the way, for those who want to try referencing past systems as being better just know that this same issue was just as much a problem with the past playlist ranking systems too if not more so. The problem is that these playlist rankings can mess with -Yoink!-'s TrueSkill system from matching you up with players of around your own overall skill level, because unless you build up enough playlist experience to settle into an accurate skill rank (granted by that time it might be more accurate then -Yoink!-'s TrueSkill system per the playlist) then the playlist ranking system is simply going to override what would be a more accurate skill rank per your global -Yoink!- TrueSkill rank. This can mean that when pairing you with other less defined players per the playlist they may or may not share a skill rank even remotely close to your global -Yoink!- TrueSkill rank. This has always been one of the negative aspects of the playlist skill ranks of the Halo games and why Reach tried to go away from it and instead elected to purely use -Yoink!-'s TrueSkill system; though, there were plenty of problems and complaints with that method and decision too in that people simply enjoy an easy visual indicator of their skill.
I wish they would simply create a more fluid and utilitarian diagnostic playlist ranking tool. One that piggybacked more directly off of the -Yoink!- TrueSkill system and didn’t rely on progressively building up a vast playlist experience history to accurately determine your rank. It’d be nice to know that after a game you’d have a decent idea of where you ranked and that after playing a multitude of games and playlists the system would simply reflect the alterations from your baseline skill level per your playlist strengths and weaknesses; of course, this should effectively turn your -Yoink!- TrueSkill into a curbing mechanic to prevent any dramatic outlier games from drastically altering your playlist skill ranks and ensuring that you’ll rarely, if ever, be matched up with people outside your general skill level.
Sometimes I feel like the game will match four average players in a party with two good and two bad players to play against. Four average players working as a team will beat 4 players of differing skill not communicating almost all of the time even if there are some really good players on the team not communicating
Yeah I know what you mean, hopefully they will do something about it, hit me up with a FR if any of you guys play swat or btb alot, you all seem like cool mature guys
You gotta love when it matches you up with people that can’t stand for their average life to be over 20 seconds.
Part of the problem is the scoring system. If i have 14 kiss and 3 deaths, that is NOT worse than 16 kills and 26 deaths irrespective of any arguments about play style and team contribution.
Party size restrictions, more accurate scoring system, and larger populations would all help. Obviously the third is out of their control

Well they could control the last one by actually paying attention to the community and fixing the things people point out most. For the most part they keep the game updated and pay attention but overlook certain things.
Yea I have about a 35 or 34 CSR in infinity slayer and when I go play the other game types that I dont play a lot I get matched with people way below my skill and dominate those matches with ease. But I think the idea is if you play long enough it will eventually move you to the appropriate rank.
The skill levels start to even out once you hit the 40s.

This. 50’s on a full team vs. random mid 20’s (with one person with a CSR of 2. How can this be fun for either team?
Most good players play together and search together / Probably because the higher skilled plays are playing in a party or as a team / as u search solo and hope for the best from the MM system
Make friends and play with / that’s the best advice I can give you.
Other wise expect the worst
if you haven’t noticed yet, people who have mics get paired with others who have mics. if you want to be on the good team buy a mic and use it. people who communicate and take the time to do callouts deserve to be on the “good” team
Sorry for your frustration. The system does not handle guests very well, but I’m not sure how 343i could do it.
I was playing with a couple of friends (mics, none of us are very good) and we’d get assigned a random 4th. The system pitted us against a player with two guests. They were even worse than we were, but refused to back out after the games, and we ran off like 5 wins before they moved on. I hope you weren’t one of the people on their team.
I also have to echo the poster who talked about not playing CTF or Objective much. We have some 50’s in our community, and we realized that having them play with us weaker players in Slayer did not go well, as we were seriously overmatched with them having an even game OR we had an OK game and they walked around destroying everything in sight. It made for some VERY lopsided games - one way or the other. 640-1000 or 1000-360. Now we’ll go into CTF/Objective if we want to play together, since they don’t have enough games in to be high ranked.
It’ll never be perfect. I’ve seen 50s have bad games and noobs have great games. Anything can happen in a given game regardless of how “evenly matched” an algorithm or opinion says it should play out.
Honestly I don’t care what game I’m playing… it could be Halo or Baseball or Beruit… I’ll expect more uneven outcomes than even ones.

When you have a 2 kd and your teammates are routinely combining to go -20 or more, there is a problem.
