What would you rate Halo Reachs Campaign out of 10

I bought Halo Reach recently mainly for the PvP but have been thinking of giving the campaign a try but if it blows I’d rather just stay in multi.
Why ask rather than try? Because I would like to save the little time I do have for something I’d enjoy doing. If it’s super good go light on spoilers please!

It’s good, but not perfect. I’d give it a solid 7.5/10. The areas are a little restrictive with very little exploration, and it’s what I would describe as too linear. However, this is typical with Halo. The gameplay itself is entertaining and the varied missions help make things less repetitive.

What really makes the campaign better than most of the other Halo campaigns is it’s story telling. It’s narrative is a lot closer to the books in terms of concepts and lore which is very refreshing compared to the typical “blow stuff up to save the universe” plots we see in just about every Halo game save for Reach. And iirc, Eric Nylund himself oversaw the story of Reach. And btw, some of the hardcore eu fans complain about Reach breaking canon, and although there are about two or three instances where it deviates or contradicts points from the books, Reach actually reinforces the lore by confirming a lot of information originally created by the books (Spartan 3’s, Halsey’s research with forerunner artifacts, etc). IMO, most of the people who complain about the story were really just disappointed that they didn’t get to play the game through Chief’s perspective exactly how it was written in the novel.

So yes, the campaign is definitely worth playing once and no, it’s not a waste of time. Also, the armor you customize in the menu for multiplayer also applies to Noble 6 in-game, I mean come on, like how cool is that?

Its a pretty good campaign, I’m a bit biased as it’s what got me back into halo, even influnced me to buy a 360. I’ve only ever played like three matchmade games btw, the rest were campaign and firefight. If nothing else completing campaign missions gives you some extra credits to spend on customisation. I’d give it about a 7, the locations look wonderful and are varied, the AI is actually a challenge on higher difficulties and is a joy to fight, and as the previous post stated, your own personal customized spartan is the protagonist.

9/10

the one thing i’d like would be

a secret ending to lone wolf where you could survive and get off of reach somehow

I personally see the books as a way to fill gaps in and add to the lore of the game, to explain what wasn’t covered through the campaigns, not the other way around

I agree, I’m just pointing out that a lot of the die hard book fans were very disappointed in Reach’s story line.

10/10,I cry evrytiem

I did actually cry on Lone Wolf :stuck_out_tongue:

I’d rate Halo: Reach a solid 9/10 (Mostly because it was my first Xbox game). The campaign was fun even if Pillar of Autumn was -Yoink- on Legendary. Multiplayer was always a blast with its fun maps and (mostly) fair gameplay. Firefight could either be about survival or beating the -Yoink- out of the Covenant. Everyone should remember how fun customs is, and to top it all off the music is some of the best is all of Halo.

Dilly Dilly on the campaign and firefight playing. I agree on your score of 7 too, well stated.

9/10 for me. The only thing that I didn’t like was the fact that you were restricted by the whole ‘return to the battlefield’ crap. It’s what I loved so much about the older Halos, especially Halo 2, being able to explore outside the map areas and how much detail Bungie actually put into those areas where you weren’t really supposed to be.

Uh I’d have to give it a 7/10?

9/10
For the last Bungie made halo game it was amazing, you felt like you were a true spartan, being overflowed with Covies trying to stay alive.

I’d have to give it a 10/10…and no, this isn’t just the Halo fan inside of me saying that because it’s a Halo title. Halo: Reach was one that had an amazing story. The starting off with the unknown enemy only to discover it was the Covenant that was attack Reach was a nice little touch (Even though you learned it was them like 5 minutes into starting the story).

Watching your fellow Spartans fall in battle one by one as well as their reactions to loosing one of their own squad brought in that fear that even as super soldiers, you were still essentially human and couldn’t escape death just like some common soldier on the battlefield. And it added to the overall dark atmosphere of loosing Reach to the Covenant forces in an attack that would mostly kick off a lot of the conflicts between the humans/Covenant in the series. It kinda gave a little more grit to a series where you normally play as a super soldier and just wade through scores of enemies like it’s nothing and always come out on top in the end.The music played along well also, adding on more to the more intense moment or the more sad ones. Reach is one of the few games that when I initially played through as well as the first couple of replays, I found myself very emotional to the point of tears, and not many games can do that for me.

While I am a big fan of playing as the Master Chief since it was Halo: Combat Evolved that really got me into gaming more, I seem to have found just as much enjoyment if not more playing the “spin-off” games in the series. Games like Halo: Reach and even more so with Halo 3: ODST gave you a more human side of looking at things in the Halo Universe other than through the eyes of essentially an invincible super soldier. Yes, in Reach, you were still a Spartan but at the game played on, it did it’s best to make you feel like even being a Spartan didn’t always mean a happy victory. And in the end, that is what made the a little more enjoyable to me.

9/10. it was just one of the first games that I enjoyed deeply I would play all it all the time with my brother and friends, it was just an epic game. The story was interesting enough obviously there were downsides like noble team not being interesting enough to me. there were other interesting ideas like the missions where you’re in space and also new alexadria was such a fun mission, I just loved flying from building to building completely objectives it was so cool. I also miss how serious the campaign was when people died it was for real and it just made you feel more immersive. nowadays if one of the players in Halo 5 had died I wouldn’t have cared cause I had no connection to them, ever since they made it halo for kids it’s just been less serious. Apart from the campaign, the multiplayer was awesome I just wish I had spent more time playing it. also, firefight was just so perfect. and finally forge was just amazing i had so much fun making the craziest maps and playing them with friends at home. this game was just great.

TL:DR 7/10

I rate Halo Reach’s campaign: 7 out of 10. I too felt like I was a Spartan. This game shows the difference between SPARTAN-II and SPARTAN-III’s: III’s profit from teamwork and superior tactics, while II’s profit mainly from great equipment. It shows us how well the secret SPARTAN-III came out as there is little information about the program. And you could definitely see how much Dr. Halsey liked it. This is what Bungie did great.

However it wasn’t worth an 8 out of 10 or higher. I felt the campaign was way too short. Missions that took place on the Visegrád mountains or in the city of New Alexandria were awesome and Bungie should have done at least two more missions with these two themes.

Also, it’s a shame Invasion only has three real invasion maps (Spire, Breakpoint and Boneyard). Invasion is just such a cool gametype and I’ve never seen anything like it. 343 can actually fix that by adding community-made content to matchmaking (which they’ve already done with Slayer and Griffball(haven’t they?)).

Still, I think Bungie did a great job and it was truly a masterpiece, along with the other Bungie-made Halo titles (and I think Destiny is great too).

Sometimes I run into these -Yoink- “fans” who used to complain about how Bungie’s Halo games weren’t good enough. Now there are people who -Yoink- about how much it sucks that they don’t own Halo anymore.

9 out of 10. I love Halo Reach’s campaign, it’s dark, more “realistic” than other Halo campaigns and the atmosphere is beautiful. People criticise the story but i think it was just fine. The story is not about the Noble team, it’s about Reach and the war against the Covenant. I really hope bc team or 343 updates Reach to 4K HDR 60 FPS and polishes it’s textures, aa, motion blur etc…

No game is, it’s impossible
Anyway, I’d give it about a 8.5/10 or 9/10

Halo Reach was the first halo game I played so in my biased opinion I would rate it at 8. I loved all the customization and how playing the campaign earned you CSR. The story line was a little heart wrenching though.

I’d easily give it a 9 out of 10, my favorite halo campaign due to the sense of impending death to the entire planet, also, for the first time, you witness spartans who make many many sacrifices. Also fighting around the planet was awesome, and after playing through it again recently with a few friends, theres alot of hidden meanings and cool backstory that is covered within the campaign, not to mention the invisible elites with the data pads and cryptic messages about the rogue A.I. who were attempting to overthrow the humans on Reach. Also a fan of halo one kuzz thats where i started on pc like 15 years ago lol.
