I’m just as exited for Halo Infinite as most beloved Halo fans, and will spend many hours playing the BETA. But what what I think about quite often is what do the average or pro Halo Fan expect and would like to see in this Next instalment of Halo Infinite’s Forge?
of course I thought a hole list of what I would like to see in Halo Infinite Forge.
(1) Addable friendly and enemy and customisable NPC’s For custom games - For surviving rounds of adds. Spartans, ODST’s Covenant and the BANISHED!
(2) Editable Bodies - when you go into the bodies tab there will only will be one thing a random body tab when you spawn it in it will select a random category. Spartan, ODST, Elite, Jackel, Grunt, Brute. Any of the banished forces also. If want to switch go into objects properties you could switch from grunt to an ODST and customise the ODST with various ODST Pieces. Wouldn’t mind movable joints just for uniqueness.
(3) Building pieces - Various Sizes Like in Reach.
(4) Fan favourite Vehicles - Falcon and maybe a flyable pelican would definitely peak my interest.
(5) FX like in Halo 5 also Elements Water & Lava would be a fun addition.
(6) Scripts - Button and terminal scripts like in Halo 5 would be fun also.
(7) More creative destructible blocks.
The list could go on and on I would mind to see what you would like also in Halo Infinite’s Forge and I’ll see you on the Battlefield. Peace
Fun. Something 3 and Reach had that 5 took away when it decided to become seemingly more Dev focused than the perfect balance of fun Reach had.
Make it more user friendly. 5 was a slog too learn and just never allowed for the level of fun you could have in forge with your mates within previous entries. And yes I know, forge is where you make maps and customs is where you -Yoink- around, but the thing is, 3 and Reach both marketed screwing around with friends LIVE as forge was in progress. 343 ditched the whole “drop a tank on your friend” mentality which is sorely missed.
I think 5 was an incredible leap forward from the entertaining but only moderately useful 3, and the more useful but still limited Reach. They fleshed the system out as a true map editor and gave it capabilities that brought creating maps that feels professionally made to the table. It’s ridiculously powerful and I would love to see them continue to improve the system in that direction.
The biggest things I’m looking for from Forge in Infinite are:
Greater lighting and FX budget. - More control over atmospherics and base map conditions. I enjoyed being able to toggle snow for example based on indoor outdoor zoning. But fog can not currently experience the same thing which would be nice. - Multi-player bots integrated into Forge for play testing - Expanded game type options for player created maps (i.e. Firefight) - An error/component checker. If I set target game mode as CTF, can the system check to make sure I have all the necessary components for CTF?
Obviously, I would love additional components but I was fairly happy with 5 and what it had to offer. The above are really the changes I would see making a massive impact.
There are soooooooooo many things I could ask for in Forge Mode. I’m not gonna spam everybody with them all here lol. Forge is one of those game modes I can get lost in. Essentially, the more customization options, the better.
-Every object that exists in game should be utilized in forge. EVERY. ONE.
-AI and AI pathing nodes.
-Deployed equipment (Place activated drop shields)
-Projectile emitters (Just like an effect emitter, but can adjust fire rate and cone of fire. Scriptable.)
You would be able to create interesting out of bounds fields with this using wraith mortars, for example, that are constantly bombarding an open area.
“Brushes” to transform terrain. Using multiple terrain pieces to form a decent hill is just…meh.
Also “brushes” to place water/rivers.
Scalable Structure, so you don’t have 268262 different wall pieces.
More reliable scripting, especially when it comes to rotating objects.
“Vector based” areas. So to name locations or set kill and spawn zones, you have to set certain areas. In the past you could only do so by placing a “kill zone element” somewhere and then set a radius around it. This makes it quite difficult to work precisely. Sometimes areas were overleaping and sometimes you have to use way too many of them to get the shape/area you need. So instead it would be great if you could just set some “pins”. Graphic Designers will know what I mean. Or if you have played some RTS games where you could place fences…
Btw. Will there be a Forge Beta, too? I would like to volunteer
More scripts, more actions, more labels. I want easier selection of players (this is the biggest hurdle to people getting into scripting). I want to be able to apply labels to players in the lobby. I want to act on killers not just on those who have died. I want to be able to force team / weapon changes.
I want to be able to attach scripts to game types (not just maps).
Various NPCs:
UNSC, Civilian, Flood, Covenant, Banished, Wildlife.
(Please let the Flood infect players too.)
Customizable rank:
Like making an elite minor a zealot.
Recolorable:
From parts of their armor, or clothing to lights on said armor it should all be recolorable.
Modifiable stats:
Modifiers for speed, health, damage, camo, etc.
Scriptable pathing:
Like having a marine walk from point A to point B in a loop.
Modifiable disposition: Fearful: Flees upon seeing hostiles Fanatical: Attacks hostiles on sight with no regard for self preservation Default: Attacks hostiles on sight, but will attempt to preserve its life.
Teams:
Allows an AI to be friendly with any player assigned to its team. This should use default teams, and advanced scripting number assignment to allow alliances in FFA.
Loadout:
The weapons, or vehicle an NPC spawns with.
Driveable scarabs, falcons, pelicans, and phantoms.
Sliders to control how dark night time is, but most importantly allow for nearly blackout light levels.
I want in forge
Make the controls a lot easier halo 5 I can’t build anything
Forge word 2.0 2 times bigger than halo reach forge world 2 times higher up
Halo 5 assault rifle and dmr
falcons, revenant, hornet drivable pelicans that can shoot it’s in halo mcc hallo 4 forge
jet packs
buildings pieces from halo reach forge
elevator pieces to make a building
more nature pieces like water
Animal AI, marines AI and covenant AI
Bigger flat pieces
Make big maps have custom games up to 24 people or more now big team battle is 12 vs 12 so we should be able to build 12 vs 12 maps and play in custom games
I’ve always loved forge, Especially Halo Reach’s forge. It had a nice map and some really good objects and new things to mess around with. I hope that if they’re marketing this game as “Halo Infinite is an appreciation to all Halo’s before it” Then I hope they take the best aspects out of forge and give us more possibilities than ever before.
