What would you do in this situation?

I just lost a 1v1 (well I didn’t lose, but I resigned out of boredom). But I want to know what would you guys do in this situation?

I’m decimus and the enemy is atriox, I scouted early and realized he was going for scarab because he had his War Council.

So I try to hurry up (this is the first mistake I think cost me the game, he sent his AtrioxChosen and garrisoned it besides my base (it was the map with the really near garrison in your base). My mistake was killing him, it took so much time!

I had some units but when I got to his base he already had a shield, turrets and some engineers. I knew he was building a scarab so I did all I can to destroy his War Council, I managed to but lost all my units.

I tried to recover and did it again, lost again all my units in exchange for his war council. By the third attempt I saw he has his base cloaked, so I need detection. I then realize I’m just going to lose this way so I got EVERY SINGLE base and minibase in the map.

The diminishing returns in this game is RIDICULOUS!!!

I had around 16 augmented harvesters! And my income is soooo slow it doesn’t allow me to rebuild my army after it gets destroyed.

I went in with mass upgraded Banshees and a few Reavers to kill the Engineers too, it just didn’t work! Atriox Bulwark makes them immune, after 2 tries I couldn’t rebuild my army, I had run out of supplies, I don’t think I’m even making 2X of what he’s farming WITH JUST ONE BASE!

At the end I just resigned, I was bored and frustrated.

Two things have to change in this game because it is extremely easy to defend:

Make resources limited per base or remove the diminishing returns.

Should have gone Locusts, Reavers and Engineers.

I tried locusts on the second and third attempt. They are extremely vulnerable to eradication :frowning:

BTW I forgot to mention he did have a scarab.

It would’ve been extremely easy to just set up blisterbacks out of range if he was just defending. Set them up with a force to defend them and just wait for them to do their thing, that and locusts would be the easiest way to really break someone who’s just defending a single base. If he was building a scarab with engineers the spamming hunters, a few reavers and banshees would’ve worked to counter that but you would want to wait until you were outside of his base’s range. If he had no anti-air and got to the point that his base was cloaked you could’ve made a small mass of engineers to go sit on his base until you kill that cloaking generator with artillery.
Also I guarantee that if he had only one base and you had every other base with harvesters then you should have a significantly better economy than him. If you looked at postgame stats then comparing the supplies gathered would’ve given a good indicator of how much better it was. Overall I think that the economy system in this game is fine, if I remember correctly then there’s no upkeep costs so then your income is directly proportional to the number harvesters/ supply pads you have.

I believe there is upkeep, with the amount of harvesters I had i could be able to pump out 13 Banshees per minute, I did the math.

However it does not translate in game, I could only train 4 or 6 at most.

So your mistake was not building a large army and taking over every base you could after that. If he only had one base all you had to do was build alot of Banshees, Hunters, a few Reavers and an Engineer or two to easily destroy his Scarab. Your foward bases should have been mostly unit producing and you simply make sure he doesn’t expand. hes already spent so much resource to produce a Scarab that all your units should be upgraded much further than his. Your other bases mean you are producing way more resource. Engage him when u have a good army population and not any later or he might decide on a second Scarab. Regardless just focus the Scarabs down ignoring turrets. DO NOT forget to queue new units during the fight. Try to bait the Scarab out of his base to avoid turret aggro and getting his engineers out of the base shield. if he gets his Scarab out far enough surround it with groups of your units, dont forget to use your leader powers. This will make the Scarab circle around alot to prioritize different targets. kill the Scarab. You should have either a small amount of army left or mutually destroyed each others armies. Your foward bases and higher income then create a full army again before his leader powers are up. When you’re both down leader powers you will still come out on top because scarabs aren’t that strong without support. Send a rally point to the backside of your armies always. You could have easily won. Always expect to lose alot of units while attacking a defended base but when you do this try not to micro manage to much and queue units and expand. that’s the advantage of being the aggressor. They have to focus on defending. Also late game if u ever have more energy than resource and have mostly everything upgraded don’t be afraid to destroy a reactor for a harvester. Hope this helps

What you type sounds just like that game :frowning: at the end I had maxed upgrades and replaced the extractors for harvesters.

I think I could’ve tried doing 3 scarabs myself. Didn’t think of that.

I’ve found that dropping down a max heal on my army while attacking helps break setups nicely, because your units keep healing even though their taking damage (unlike HW1).

I just played a 5 hr and 20 min match against a trolling -Yoink- loser. This kid gives me a good run for two hours but thwn i nust get the better strat and push and push. He gets doen to one base and expertly -Yoinks!- me out of destroying it for 3 hours.i tried so many different strategies all the while hes talkimg -Yoink- in messanger. Any way i dont know why this shot was so awful but all he did was surround his base with blisterbacks and kept laying infusion its was garbage .i got the win but -Yoink-

Why didn’t you switch to air?

full pop vultures would have won if he was just defending like that

i have a boring personality and no life, so i would wait it out until life catches up with him or till he has to go asleep.

Locusts are not bad. They deal good damage while kiting and Hunters can’t keep up but you can nuke them very easily. Don’t forget they deal more base damage than anything besides Goliaths. If you got defensive abilities, they are a good asset for any army.
