What would you change to PV?

Promethean Vision, as it stands, has so many upsides… and no real downsides. You can see enemies through walls for a generous amount of time, with a rather quick cooldown. Giving you an advantage because you know whats coming and from what direction.

As the title states, what would you change to it?

Me, I would make it so when I hit the AA button, it acts like a strobe light (or it sends out a pulse), giving me only a flash of where everyone is at that precise moment. Two presses of the AA button, and I get hit with cooldown.

I find it fair because if I blink, I miss it.

Less range on the thing.

I’d make the Spartans a tiny blur and I’d make it like a radar so it updates every 2 seconds or whatever, if you know what I mean. Similar to this.

You also wouldn’t be able to see the other Spartans weapon this way. One more thing I’d do is make the range much smaller so you’re not able to see across the map.

Seeing a still instead of a moving image of a player through walls would be enough to balance it, imo.

besides the fact that the images are already blurred enough, probably the range

I heard that 343i was going to add something that you are aware of someone using PV. It was in one of the MLG commentaries.

At best, I’d only remove a user’s radar when PV is active. Beyond that, I wouldn’t change it. As it is, I don’t see many advantages to using it, and in most of the videos I’ve seen, the people using it are constantly getting killed because they put to much attention on what PV is telling them and not on their surroundings.

Still, it’s hard to make any definitive conclusions. I have yet to play the game, and all we’ve really seen is PV in most gameplay vids.

I like it the way it is now.

We currently have the whole glowing visor thing, which I saw in one of the vids. IIRC it does make a rather loud noise…

Hmmm…

You could decrease the range, or make it so a PV user is always visible on the radar, or make it drain shields/stop shield regen, long cooldown than other abilities.

Those seem to be the best solutions to me, I would prefer decreasing the range or longer cooldown, but shield draining could work.

The only reason why I think shield draining could work is because of my experience playing resistance fall of man on ps3 years ago. There was an ability, just like PV, except it also made you run faster, but it would also drain your health if you used it for more than 1-2 seconds (down to 50% I think).

It worked fairly well for resistance fall of man, though I have some doubts about balancing the shield drain with all of the other armor abilities/sprint/and melee lunge.

I’d make it emit a loud noise when it is in use, similar to the Sonar Goggles from Splinter Cell.
