If you had to choose one thing to change what would it be?
The plot.
I’d just have the plot go hand-in-hand with Hunt the Truth story (the way it was probably originally intended to) and play up the whole Master Chief being reported as dead/going AWOL parts. Oh, and I wouldn’t have had Jul 'Mdama slain in the first 10 minutes either.
The plot really. Everything points to a major half–Yoinked!- rewrite that happened at the last moment. For instance the fact that a major plot-point from “Hunt The Truth” was ONI hanging Chief out to dry and painting him as a terrorist, gone AWOL from command and acting out on his own.
Campaign. Hands down.
The campaign story for sure.
Definitely spartan abilities.
If i were to be completely honest, almost everything. Multiplayer, campaign, graphics, i think forge may be the only exception.
Definitely the campaign. Halos campaign is what got me into the franchise and I still LOVE playing through many of the different maps and missions. They are rewarding and well implemented. Even visually looking at Halo 5’s campaign is unpleasant. The plot wasn’t good and it destroyed a lot of the character development the other games built up over the years. It didn’t feel right and it wasn’t fun to play. I have yet to play it again since I purchased the game. My Halo ritual was always to buy the game on release (or pre release, not anymore after MCC), play through the entire campaign that day or into the next, then start the multiplayer grind.

remove advanced movement & add a more strategy based multiplayer
Make a classic playlist. I mean for -Yoinks!- sake, even to just shut up half the commnity it’d be worth it. Dont like sprint? Play this. Problem -Yoinking!- solved.
Also lock spartan charge in a room and burn it to the ground.
Oh and force Microsoft to give Blur some dosh to make a -Yoink- film.

Most definitely the story 
The whole campaign. Literally the whole story . Awful and the campaign is always the main thing for me in a halo game .
