Hi there, sorry if a summary like this has been posted before (which in all likeliness it hass) but my search feature doesn’t seem to work very well:)
Having played Halo:CE through Reach (ugh) and now playing halo 4 I want to know what you people think could help make this good game become great:)
I have a pretty unimpressive playtime in this game, but having played soooo much halo 3 multi and previous titles I like to think I can fairly easily discover faults or “wrong turns” in the game.
In my oppinion, here are the issues I’ve noticed so far, and how I would fix them . Please add your own thoughts:)
-Ordinance:
This seemed refreshing and all in the begining, but one can quickly see how garbage it is. It’s a feature that suits the “instant gratification” crowd very well, but is simply horrible for a Halo game.
It completely removes the aspect of map controll for the sake of weapon controll, and no longer lets you play based on what you KNOW the enemy has or doesn’t have.
Solution: easy. Either remove it or make the ordinance drops purely : Speed boost, Ammo drop, grenades, ability to switch to a secondary “armor ability” ( which has to be chosen in your loadout and lets you adapt on the go) etc.
- DMR:
honestly I don’t know how people feel about this, but if I am to trust me judgment of what people liked in previous games, I would say this weapon is a gamebraker.
The Br is a perfect weapon for Halo. It’s not super easy to use. Doesn’t hold too much ammo i the clip, yet if you can controll it it become the best overall weapon. Theh you have the DMR. The only downside to this weapon is that it MIGHT be worse in close quarters depending on your handling of it. That’s all.
It limits movement of the enmy team all to well, bringing deadly accuracy from long range (where earlier you either had to be sniped, lasered or slowly picked off by a skilled Br gunner) coupled with high dmg and extreme versatility. It’s too easy to use and frankly it destroys map design. Imo no non-powerweapon should ever have a higher range/dmgoutput then the Br. Now you can’t ever run into the open for even a second because you know no matter how good your movement is, 90% of theplayers have DMr’s and snipers just pop up randomly.
Solution: REMOVE IT. Forever. It’s all that was wrong with reach and more. We only need the Br.
-Light rifle: Does this seem to powerfull to or is it just me? This one is more of a question since I have too little playtime with it in multiplayer. please comment:)
- Loadouts: I’m not really sure what I think of this, but if I’ll HAVE to chose a side I would like it either to be removed or limited more. Players should start with equal footing, that’s the name of the game (Halo). I think Halo 4 's armomr abilities tie into the game better then reach, apart from some (which I’ll get to) so I feel they can keep those.
this ties in together with the ordinances. I feel every pleyer should start equally,(apart from some small free of chioce elements) an that a team that has gained the upper hand should really “feel like they -Yoinking!- do”. Oh so I killed half their team and controll the upper ground. Nvm these two gyus got ordinance drops with sniper and laser, and every fresh spawn has a DMR.
Conquering ground and doing well in Halo 4 only gives you that. Namely temporarily ground controll. It doesn’t give you any significant weapon advantage(apart from some spawns) or any sense of momentum. It’s sad really.
Solution: Either emove them entirely (keeping the perks and armor ability.
Or even easier, keep them as they are but remove DMR and tweak the light rifle.
-Promethean vision:
First let me say, I in no way think this ability is “OMG too powerfull” since I know it has limited duration and highlights you on the minimap.
However I strongly dislike the idea that someone can sometimes see through walls and see where you’re going or if anyone is hiding if they’re not too far away. It just completely ruins mind games and smart movement. Now I know you CAn use it to your advantange too. Ex: See on the minimap when someone is using Pvision and then altering your course when you see it end, but then again everyone on the opposing team could be running it for all I know.
As I said it’s not THAT powerfull, because you do sacrifice other usefull abilities for it, and it’s easy to missue. However it’s the mere concept of it that irks me.
Solution: Make it go away, please. It’s just too un-Halo like:P
