What would it take, Halo 4 #1 on Xbox Live?

I love how people think that returning Halo to a more classic experience would make it popular, despite evidence to the contrary. Arena shooters are just not popular anymore. Everyone wants “realistic” military shooters (Battlefield, COD, etc). Unless Halo wants to dumb down the gameplay further, reduce killtimes to a few seconds, and add ironsights, it’s not going to be number 1 again.

> There is nothing that can do that. Under all the complaints, a lot of people are just tired of Halo, and gaming demographics have changed a lot since the glory days of Halo 3. Many others got bored with the game because progression is too fast.
>
> Regardless of what’s fixed, it won’t make the top spot. As much as many of us would hate to admit it, a Halo game with arena mechanics wouldn’t be doing much better than Halo 4, if at all.

I am not sick of Halo. I am sick of Halo Reach and the Halo Reach 2 Beta. Sorry, but Halo died with Reach not with Halo 3.

If Halo can make a game that is balanced and enjoyable, then I’m sure having an arena shooter would at the very least, have more than 40k (On a good day/weekend) Eastern Time, especially 5 months after its release.

This (Halo Reach/Reach2) clearly isn’t doing the trick, instead of dumbing it down further how about you try to emulate what made this franchise famous again? Halo dominates the 4v4 arena shooting market.

People seem to forget that when COD4 and H3 were released, CoD4 was number 1 for 90% of the following year. With Halo 3 squeeking in for the first 2 months. The only time Halo was king of online activity was Halo 2.

CoD4 was also arguably the best game in the Call of Duty series.

Halo 4 is currently getting dominated by MW3, arguably the WORST game in the series.

  1. Firefight AND Spartan Ops.
  2. COD fanboys realizing that they are playing the same game with different weapons every year.
  3. Putting every single map from every Halo game into Halo 4. (How hard would that be?) Halo 4 is my first Halo game, but im now a die hard fan of RvB and some of the old maps look AWESOME.
  4. Making Elites playable characters? Sounds cool, It would be cool to have a seperate Elite that you could rank up seperate from your spartan.

Sad But True

:(’’’

If Valve could learn to count, Halo players could be the only people on LIVE during the release of HL3 or Portal 3.

All of the above would certainly be amazing and would make a lot of players happy. However it would not bring Halo to the number 1 spot. That is impossible at this point.

This is a great list of things to have in Halo 5.

> Take Halo Reach and Halo 4, and throw them in the garbage. Build off of Halo 3 as it worked longer than both Reach and H4 combined.

That’s because it came out just as CoD4 came out and not too many people new about CoD. Then in 2009, MW2 came out, and that game (bad as it was) sold more than Halo 3. And then Halo couldn’t compete with the yearly CoD releases.

Halo will never beat CoD as long as CoD is still around. Halo 3 only lasted because the CoD fanbase was just starting to grow, not because of the game itself.

An actual Halo game. Not a game that combines things from other games in a mediocre fashion. cough, COD, cough Classic Halo, no sprint, no aa’s, equipment maybe. Halo doesn’t need to try and be like every other bland shooter on the market.

Honestly, though I feel like Halo 4 has its problems with matchmaking its most likely the shift in demographics. Crap like Nikki Minaj and Lil Wayne tops charts and breaks “popularity” records, but that doesn’t make me love my favorite bands any less. I loved Halo 2 through all the standbying and modding, and if I can deal with that I can most definitely get over some fling 343 had with Ordinance and misguided multiplayer direction. The Campaign/story team definitely knew what they were doing.

Agreed. Some argue (well not enough was explained in campaign) but if you found the terminals and other things like that in campaign then it made better sense. Not to mention the first HALO left alot of unanswered questions itself.

What if they Made a Halo ODST 2 with it own unique Multiplayer? Or a Side Halo Game that let you play as the Arbiter through out the Entire games Campaign, and it Had Elites and Brutes Only, in Multiplayer?

These two posts should be published. This one and the following link.

Credit to Buns: Halo is Xbox exclusive and therefore that much harder to achieve that #1 spot. I still say it isn’t impossible. In 2001 and 2004, Xbox was not the only platform. We all know that.

Long live Halo.

In my eyes there is only 1 way.

That is to release an update that turns halo 4 into halo 2.

Realistically, if they want another halo title in the top spot. They need to release Halo 2 Anniversary, with maybe a few bug fixes and HD graphics.

For Activision to go out of business? Really I don’t see it happening but that’s okay.

Opps, double post.

What’s with people’s obsession with Halo being #1 on XBL?
How about letting other people play what they want to play, not force them to play what you want them to play.
