What Would Happen If Sprint Was Removed In Halo 6

Well people you read the title

Wouldn’t know unless they tried… They have had abilities/sprint since Reach now, and since then the population has declined. Which could be blamed on several things from them adding those or the FPS genre just being flooded with many other game options to play.

Could you be a little more specific?
Is it about gameplay?
Player reactions?
Population?
Player retention?
Review scores?

Gameplay? We’d have gameplay that revolved around not sprinting. Either they’d tie current spartan abilities associated with sprint to function differently or they’d add armor abilities as map pickups? We could recharge our shields properly again at full speed though, most likely.

Player reactions. Same with as sprint but reversed. “Add sprint back”, “Why did you cut sprint?”, “We need sprint” etc.

Population: It’s not dependant on one mechanic, those who say they won’t play because a single mechanic is missing are not only being over dramatic, but not that many either.

Player retention: Same as above.

Review scores: Same as above.

All of these can be dived into more as well, but given the very vague subject of the thread, I’m not that into it.

Sprint has been around since Reach. If you took out sprint, you would pretty much turn the fast paced gameplay that we currently have into a game that’s extremely slow.
A lot of people (including me) like the game because it’s fast paced. Removing sprint would basically cause a potion of the community to stop playing halo.

Says who? Also, keeping abilities/sprint and a stale campaign around is slowly pushing a majority of the fans away, some long time players. I myself, started with CE, probably stop after 6, knowing 343.

Well if they do remove sprint, then their needs to be another way to move faster. I’m a long time player as well (I played halo 1 and 2 on the PC.) and so far, I think it’s fine.

I guess it really depends on what the community wants though, so if sprint gets removed because for whatever reason nobody likes it, or if it’s for the better of the community/game’s life span, then hopefully the game won’t be too campy/slow paced.

I don’t recall Halo CE - Halo 3 being slow or campy. In fact, I just went and played the MCC and it is both slow paced and fast paced–actually much faster paced than Halo 5. The walkspeed in classic halo was obviously slower than sprinting, but the percentage of the map covered at the maximum movement speed is much higher in Halo CE - Halo 3. Sprint only makes it seem like you’re covering a higher percentage of the map per second, but in actuality, sprinting in Halo 5 is the same as base movement in Halo 3. Adding a secondary movement speed extends the maps to accomodate the second movement speed. Which is why Truth–the remake of midship–is so large compared to midship. So removing Sprint will actually speed up the game mode, but to the untrained mind, it will seem slower. It’s all a matter of perception versus reality, and it seems like the majority of waypoint members choose perception.

It would be slower game pace, you would need to be a much more accurate shooter and smarter movement around maps, it would feel like classic halo.

I’ll still play it with or without sprint.
