For starters, I’m going into this thread with the opinion that Halo 5 is a great game. I do not think there are major issues with the gameplay or the mechanics, and this thread is not meant to be about major gameplay or mechanical changes. If you wish to discuss major changes (e.g. splitscreen), please bring that elsewhere. If you do not agree Halo 5 is a great game, please discuss that elsewhere.
I believe that with a few small tweaks and additions, Halo 5 could compete with Halo 3 for the best game in the series. Halo 5 rocks the FPS and graphics unlike any other game. Matchmaking runs smoothly and games are found quickly and efficiently.
Fix the Warzone Assault glitch that allows the offense to capture the armory before the first base. For me, this is gamebreaking and I don’t understand why it hasn’t been patched yet. Warzone Assault is such a good large team objective mode. I enjoy the games that play out as they should, win or lose, but it’s just stupid how often you hear “armory captured, time reset” before offense has even made a dent in objective one. Whether it’s a teammate or an enemy, I don’t enjoy how it breaks the game and forces the core battle right away. There’s no fun in that.
Add variety to SWAT. SWAT could be the premier hardcore mode of Halo 5. Sure, Breakout has a unique appeal with a hardcore feel to it, but there’s nothing quite like the four-shot overkill potential of a SWAT game. In its current state, I find SWAT more of a chore than a fun gametype. I don’t mind the pistol, but I don’t want to play a mode that feels like the pistol is the primary weapon (even if it’s really 50-50 in reality - I don’t know the exact math). Add DMRs, SHWATguns, objective SWAT… add to the current playlist.
Create social Arena. Even one social mode that’s a random mix of all gametypes together is better than no social mode at all. The only options for casual games are in Warzone. Assault is discussed above, and the regular Warzone can last a long, long time. Sometimes too long to hold interest for a casual feel. Coding wise, it feels like a social arena would be super easy to create. Use the same mechanic as ranked, where everyone starts on placement number one, but don’t have wins/losses stick. Everyone would go into the game with the same “0 games played” rank for every social game.
Create a custom lobby. This one is dependent on the release of forge. Honestly, I don’t know how easy this would be to create. I might be a hypocrite if this is a major change, but custom game options would help bring Halo 5 to the top of the Halo chain. This gives people room to stop complaining about what isn’t provided and start creating it on their own. Remove Spartan abilities? Now you have Classic feel. Infection is back. Custom maps are back. Community favorites or a most popular section would give players the chance for a casual experience even if a social arena never comes into existence.
Now, I don’t really expect a response or anyone from 343 to come remotely close to this thread… but I’m excited about the potential of Halo 5 multiplayer and I want to see the series move in the right direction.
Warzone PvE version of Firefight. With match making - Adding, if possible, match making to Campaign. - Adding a Arcade/Scoring system to campaign. - Adding more play modes to Warzone. Warzone and Warzone Assault is nice but they could add more modes for variety. - Making the bosses and enemies spawn randomly in Warzone. - More enemies spawning in Warzone. - More vehicles in multiplayer. - More original maps. Less Forge maps. It comes across as lazy. Especially for BTB. - More Social Playlists. - Addressing the AIMING issue. - Adding daily/weekly challenges for bonus XP/REQ points. - Hiding the boss’s health in Warzone. See if it will help alleviate the “Boss Points” issue.
The Warzone Assault fix is in the next update. This is been known for quite a while, so I’m not sure why it keeps coming up. It’s an obnoxious glitch, though.
I don’t particularly like Swat, because Halo isn’t a twitch shooter, so improving it would do very little to improve my experience, personally. I understand that it’s a popular game more for some reason. So, sure. I guess.
Social is being added in the next update.
They haven’t been 100% clear on what the update with bring to customs, but a custom games browser or something of that nature would definitely be nice.
I’d love to see a file share database similar to Halo Reach’s. Following other players is kinda meh, but who knows that could promote unlikely friendships and build up the community.
It’s already good. The only thing Halo 3 had better was music. If you were not around for Halo 3 (I bought it the day it came out) don’t listen to these people talking about how, “Epic” it was. They are adding everything the game needs for FREE which is incredible, and unappreciated. That was the bad thing about DLC in that most people didn’t buy it, and therefore you couldn’t use the maps you paid for (Although I will say for Halo 3 it seemed quite a few people bought the first DLC pack).
Also fix the broken boss system in Warzone. If I land 99% damage on a 150 VP boss, there is no reason I should hear “The enemy has eliminated _____” because someone got lucky with a pistol.
Also, just for fun, some actually good Spartan military style colors that don’t look like they belong on construction workers to be visible at night. I just want my camo rugged style colors back.

Halo 3 is the best thing that has ever happened to me, you don’t know what you are talking about. The music was just a bonus and it was by no means the ONLY THING they had better, they had everything better. Ps don’t tell me how I never played Halo 3 blahblahbla this isn’t my only account and I could never stop playing it EVER.

So you only hate Halo 5 because Halo 3 has sentimental value to you? Because that’s fair.

> Basically everything that moonbaseone said. I like the way u think. U must be big on the player vs environment my friend.
I LOVE PvE. Started with Horde in Gears Of War 2. That and Guardian. I played that so much, we formed teams and would play it on Insane. Almost entered a couple of EPIC Games contests for it. I still play it occasionally. I had fun with Firefight in Halo Reach, but I will always LOVE Horde mode 2.0 and 3.0.
I even enjoy replaying campaigns coop, but if there is no match making, it’s rare that I do. A lot of my friends on XBL have moved on from Halo. So if it had public match making, I would still play it occasionally. Even better if it had a scoring system/arcade mode. For example, you can still find a match in Gears Of War 3 campaign coop online(even before the backwards compatibility) and there will still be 4 people playing. Talk about longevity. Game is over 4 years old. For all the boosting that 343i and Frank O’Conner did about making Halo 5 a great coop campaign experience, they sure got a lot wrong. His reason for why they didn’t add public match making is embarrassing. They need to take notes from the Gears Of War franchise a long with other games that a got it right.
I also LOVE BTB in Halo. LOVE it. I miss BTB Heavies. So to see it being treated like a treat headed step child and them only releasing Forge maps for it, I tend to lose a lot of excitement playing after a while. Where as in Halo 3 and 4, I would play it 90% of the time. Yes, Even with Halo 4’s flaws, and even though I’ve been playing Halo since CE split-screen, I still had/have a lot of fun playing BTB in Halo 4 than I do in Halo 5 a the moment. To be honest, I miss game modes like KOTH, Regicide, VIP, etc… in BTB. I do like Strongholds, but the maps, after a while, are kinda meh…
More custom game options and game modes - Split up Spartan Customization into more options (Like left shoulder, right shoulder, wrist, legs, etc) - Add Infection, grifball, and fiesta as weekend playlist - Social playlists tab for matchmaking - (Because why not?) Firefight
