What would be the best way to balance duel wielding, playable elites, & assassinations?

I’m all for that. I like the idea of FF for the extra challenge and risks that can go horribly wrong.

I just don’t like the reality of what end up happening when you play with a bunch of randoms over the internet. The toxicity is just too much and it does drive players away (especially new or unskilled ones). Maybe with a harsh enough reporting and banning system I’d even like to see FF included in all modes but that’s hard to implement in a F2P game.

No banning, just blocking and Karma
If you don’t want to play with someone again, you shouldn’t have to, but they shouldn’t be banned from playing differently or badly. They should just be SBMM with bad karma similar players

In theory I like the idea but in practice, playing on Australian servers, I’m getting matched with whoever is online or I’m not getting any games at all.

Edit: And it still has the whole F2P problem with griefers.

Well if you get everyone banned, the result isn’t going to improve at all either. At least if you block griefers, cheaters, and hackers, it’s done right there, no waiting for 343 or Microsoft to do something

That’s the main (or maybe only) advantage of no FF. It stops the griefers before they even start.

Dual Wielding. Give up. It can’t be done.

Doesn’t mean it couldn’t be some sort of custom game option though.

Playable Elites. Just keep them to an Elite vs Elite playlist and you don’t have to do any hitbox balancing.

Assassinations. Bring them back. I would microtransaction the Hell out them. Just switch them off in Ranked play lists.

From the guy with endless ideas to help improve this game this seems very defeatist.

I had such high hopes. :slightly_smiling_face:

Tell that to flag trolls, oddball trolls, afk players, players that just punch you or die a lot, and especially vehicles like the Ghost. I can think of a ton of ways people still grief without shooting their teammates

Ruins Invasion if we ever got that, also why would you think you would need to balance an obviously significantly larger player? There’s no way to balance it. It’s a massive dinosaur with a massive hitbox. Like in Bungie games, you chose to be massive, and stick out behind cover, so you suffer from being a bigger target, just like a real Elite. There is no advantage to being bigger, unlike being a smaller female Spartan, which doesn’t exist in Infinite, and doesn’t need balancing

Griefing with vehicles is definitely a thing but is mainly restricted to BTB where you tend to be able to get away from them.

I’m not sure what flag or oddball trolls are exactly but if they just keep throwing away the flag/oddball then that’s an order of magnitude less annoying than team killing and I haven’t run into anyone doing it.

AFK players suck but it’s not griefing. I would like them to be kicked sooner though.

Punching me a lot? Well they can block my line of sight but not kill me. Again it’s way less annoying than getting killed repeatedly.

Overall I appreciate the lack of greifers I’ve had to deal with in Infinite.

I did try.

My take was to split the screen into two and to have two reticules. One for each gun. Controlled on separate sticks. Which your could move out to 180 degrees from the other one

For real John Woo type dual wielding.

Needless to say, it didn’t garner much support.

Good points.

I can’t see 343 ever bringing that game type back… but if we had Elites available it would be the perfect situation for Forge / Scripting.

Worse. Grabbing the flag and running away from the base, going to the enemy base, not doing anything with it, hitting you with it, or most annoying… STANDING RIGHT NEXT TO OUR BASE BUT WON’T CAPTURE IT. The oddball trolling is to punch it into the sky so it despawns, punch it on top of something too high to reach, getting it stuck in a wall or under an object like a crate, blocking the respawn zone, or bringing it to the enemy. Seen these too often when people get bored.

Can’t do anything if they rubberband their sticks together or macro movements to not get kicked. I hate it so much. I miss vote kicking bro.

It can cause you to stick yourself with your own grenade or blow yourself up with your own rockets. Super annoying since we have no collision. People can’t stand other players being near them because of this

It’s all just so much less effective than team killing, which must lead to less people doing it in the first place.

Not against vote kicking. An extra tool is no bad thing but it often wasn’t that effective in my experience, especially if the greifer is only targeting one player.

I don’t know man. Watching your teammate, or worse, a bot, either stall or ruin the match, really makes you wish you could betray them or kick them, especially when they are wasting time with the flag until the countdown goes to zero. It should at least be a customs option

What about like an in game griefing system that separates griefers and toxic players into games together? Would maybe keep the playerbase up as it wouldn’t ban anyone but also keep these players that enjoy playing. There was once a time where everyone co-existed but those days are gone I guess.

I mean most people may just add on to the grieving if they are not usually this type of player. It’d cause funny caotic toxic griefing matches. I’d love these every once and a while but not too often lol.

Also 343, if you’re reading this, sometimes subdivisions in the playerbase is healthier. With playlists, sandbox item preference and idk a clan system/social system maybe.

I’m totally in favour of a system like that IF it works effectively. I do not agree that everyone used to co-exist though. People either liked the ‘toxic chaos’, tolerated the ‘toxic chaos’ or stopped playing. Stopping playing is the furthest possible situation from co-existing. All these systems and setting changes that 343i and the rest of the industry have adopted are a big part of why gaming has grown so much and reached a wider audience.

Ultimately encouraging the greatest number of players to enjoy the game and spend money is the goal, any system that improves on that is going to be where 343i focus their effort. Not saying they always get it right by any means but that’s definitely what they will be aiming for.

I definitely feel that way too but it’s so uncommon in my games. Not nearly as frequent as I remember team killers annoying me in past games I played with FF on. It’s an unfortunate compromise but one I feel works out well for me and how I prefer to play.

They are including a friendly fire system in customs I think in season 3 so it will probably play a part in the data they need.
