Just wondering where everyone’s stances are with all this?
My opinion is with duel wielding, when we duel wield weapons it’ll make the weapons nerfed when we’re duel wielding. When we carry one duel wieldable weapon the damage is buffed a bit. So whoever chooses to duel wield has to pay the price of not being able to melee or throw grenades. Those that want to duel wield will suffer but have a chance to play how they want. Those that want to be able to throw grenades and melee will be completely optional.
Playable elites. They can change the hit boxes a bit. Don’t make them social only. xQC is a large streamer and says he was always one of the few elites during the 1-50 ranking system days. Would be huge if we brought him back in.
Assassinations. Maybe a high reward to go with the high risk. Make the option to cancel them or give bonus XP to those that do them while keeping them out of ranked where they are imbalanced.
Yes but if ranked is set to benefit those that win, I can’t stop a teammate from doing them and them risk themselves dying which they could cost us a game causing the inability to rank up. If they make the matches more individual based then that would solve this issue.
Or make those that assassinate invulnerable when they do it? Then it would prevent those that could save a teammate being assassinated. This wouldn’t balance well either
That would be the risk and reward aspect of it. Players should be thinking about where and when it’s appropriate to perform an assassination. Most of the time, it’s not a very wise thing to do. So, players tend to turn them off or simply back smack.
As of right now, I haven’t seen the reward side of it in a Halo game before. What could be the reward? Any good ideas? Because I can’t think of any besides more XP. Or maybe they could do a refill of ammo or something. Idk.
Touche. I think it would be best to include them then. But again. What if you’re a great player and I’m a bad player. I do one and it costs us a game then you’d get mad at me for doing one and you don’t level up because of it. This would set something to have to not punish you as much as me. Maybe you’d go 17-3 and I go 7-18 but you wouldn’t get punished like I would.
There should be no “high reward” for it. Instead, Assassinations should shoulder be seen as a humiliation finisher. Kind of like the “NINJA” medal reveals it in the kill board for both players to see. Same with the “QUIGLY” medal.
What about a small reward? Something other than the satisfaction of actually completing them. So maybe a medal and announcer commentary from Jeff Steitzer?
I was thinking if they add a medal and/or XP on top of Halo 5’s optional assassinations it would help. I thought assassinations would be the hardest to balance but if you’re so competitive you won’t use them then I agree. I agree with Reach’s elites and that duel wielding is a tough call but I think they should include them to certain weapons. I was upset when they took duel wielding off the needler at first in H3 but then remembered that the needler was a lot better in 3. I just don’t know.
Also want to add that there’s a way for everyone to co-exist in ranked and social playlists. I think the 1-50 ranking system worked best. It didn’t reset whenever a new season came out. They should take that ranking system and add onto it and not reset it. It would keep high level players in their skill level more and not cause dominance to the new players that are new to the game. All while not resetting. Not saying Infinite and 5’s ranking system is bad but the fact that it always resets kinda throws it off a bit.
Dual wielding only works properly is if the weapon is always dual wielded and both weapons have to be able to be fired from a single trigger. That way the single set of weapons have to be balanced against all the other individual weapons, maybe with a slight power advantage to make up for the lack of grenades. You absolutely should still be able to make melee attacks (I mean you can hit people with the pistols currently in the game, so there’s really no reason you shouldn’t be able to).
If you let players carry another single weapon while carrying a dual wielded set, then they can still use grenades as soon as they change weapons (which should be slow compared to normal weapon changes).
If you only let the player carry one dual wielded set and no other weapon then you could boost the power a bit since they have no ability to use grenades and reduced tactical options but then the balancing definitely gets harder to get right at various skill levels.
Elites shouldn’t be that hard to balance but I would approach it with the idea that Spartans should be slightly better overall and your just trying to balance Elites to be almost as good so that people who really want to play as them are only minimally disadvantaged. Don’t want to risk a situation where people feel like they need to play as an Elites to be competitive.
Assassinations don’t need any extra incentives in my opinion. Part of the appeal is that it provides a level of humiliation to the victim precisely because it wasn’t the smart play. Just like hanging around tea bagging someone after a kill. Personally I really don’t think assassinations add enough to the game that 343i should waste the time and effort on coding them, at least not any time soon.
for duel wielding maybe firing both at the same time is less accurate, something i think would be pretty cool is if you could melee with both weapons, not at the same time obviously but maybe your melee is slower like the hammer. holding down the melee for either weapon will let you throw it like a grenade and actually do damage to whatever it hits, actually i think that should be a thing for all weapons, if you’re low on ammo just chuck your weapon at the enemy.
I think it’d be hard to map all this on controller. I don’t think there should be as much thought put into it anymore. General public doesn’t care about this game if we the core fanbase doesn’t. There’s not a perfect world where bungie and 343 fans can co-exist. It’s the only way Halo will reign again if we all come together and stop arguing. Sure we have standards and that’s good. Sure they have lots of shoes to fill, but they’re never going to be able to fill every single one, or can they?
okay hold on how are assassinations imbalanced, they literally put you and only you at detriment. Assassinations are basically just “I got you, you’re dead and can’t do anything about it.” taunts.
Competitive scene thinks they cause an imbalance to matches as they can cause players to be “vulnerable” by completing them. When you’re locked in an animation, it causes you to die from them. Causing a loss to teams that want to rank up. In other words. Maybe assassinations is the only thing of the 3 that should just stay in social. I don’t care about losing in social matches
it’s not that complicated, when i hold both weapons the grenade button now becomes a melee button and pressing and holding it will let you throw the gun in your hand. im just throwing ideas out that i think would be fun, we can pick up and throw fusion coils, we can drop weapons, dropping weapons isn’t really fun but throwing coils is, i think it could work.
I’m just not sure at this point. Not saying what you’re implying is bad, it can be good. But what about those that prefer halo 2 and 3’s dual wielding more? Dual wielding, assassinations, bloom, sprint, armour abilities, spartan abilities, etc… only thing that has been 100% positively received so far has been additions/changes to the sandbox and equipment was a major game changer. I don’t want to turn back time to CE all the way but could just build on all the stuff that got us here to begin with. I started out in CE, I loaded into bloodgulch custom game with my friend and he dominated me. The sandbox didn’t matter to me at the time. I was a new player and was just trying to learn the game. All I really knew was I needed a weapon and the main menu theme lol. Fast forward to halo 2. Played tons of customs and the story and some matchmaking. I had been in several clans. Competitive clans, glitch clans, hometown clans etc. halo 3 fixed glitches but they added an XP system and forge to make up for it. I played competitively mainly in halo 3. The coolest way bungie introduced new weapons was when they were in a previous campaign and they made those weapons available in the sandbox in the next game like the sword and the gravity hammer for example. Talking about all this just makes me think, every single positive change has always been in the sandbox. Not the mechanics. Sandbox and new features. I’m not sure what would or wouldn’t work nowadays. I asked my 11 year old nephew why he didn’t play Infinite long and he said it was fun but was the lack of content that kept him from being interested. Maybe it doesn’t matter and the 3 things being added moving forward won’t hurt as much as keeping them out. As long as there are innovative ways of new content(not mechanics) like XP, forge, clans, firefight, warzone, and new tweaks/additions to the sandbox. it could see lots of improvement. I think 2023 might be the best year for Halo as a franchise since Halo 3 launched. If 343 capitolizes.
