Hmm, we’d actually have much better games, none of this where shots don’t register, or everyone is black screen then when it stops, someone has a friggin exterm, overkill…
For gods sake, I had better games on H1 PC, and I was on dial up at that time! And H1 PC wasn’t even built for internet multiplayer…Says a lot doesn’t it…
Personally I wouldn’t mind paying a bit extra to have 343 set up dedicated servers, that way if you lag, no one else is affected as such, if you dc, you quit, not everyone goes to blackscreen for the next millenia and a half…
Dedicated servers are the way to go.Full stop. The end.
Of course dedicated servers won’t fix everything, but they’d fix a LOT of things. And of course they’d have to be localish, but I’d rather pay extra to have decent games. Seriously having a pretty much random XBox host every game, uh uh, doesn’t work very well…
sigh, everyone is having rage fits about lag,
i swear this is the least laggy Halo out of the lot.
Out of the time ive been playing Halo 4 since release, i’ve had almost no issues with lag,
the odd occasional game lags out or black screens for host migration.
Ive yet to encounter any “unplayabale and game breaking lag” people are raging about.
Are you people sure you dont just have crap connection.

Yeah I’m sure, 20mbps download, 1mps upload, one of the best connections in my country (lol) and I pull host over anyone but americans, mexicans, no offence meant here.
Personally I just think an Xbox 360 isn’t designed to host a game, whack a PC in its place and I’m sure this’d prove it.
The only other solution I can think of for lag is, people that have excessively high ping cannot join a certain playlist, basically have a low ping based playlist only. Very discrimantory, but I can’t see any other low cost solution. Thoughts on this?
Well, if youre from Aus, havnt you guys only recently got broadband, its understandable for your connections to be wonky when put in with people from across the globe. (dont worry about the offence business, I’m from England :P) lol
but 20mb/s is more than enough to handle xbox live multiplayer games, so i have no idea, maybe youre just extremely unlucky.
My internet connection is the greatest, but i very rarely have issues with lag, Halo 2 and 3 lagged much much more than what Halo 4 does.

It’s definitely frustrating when you can’t compete on level terms. Even if it takes you an extra 2 shots to break someone’s shields, it’s a big disadvantage in a one-on-one situation. My fear is that the situation will get worse if the population gets any lower.

Not quite… Australians have had broadband for about a decade if not more. I think thats just a joke people make.
I’ve got a 20Mb/s cable connection with the biggest provider in the country, yet I still lag all the time. What am I supposed to do against players who constantly transport instantly from one spot to another due to missing data packets?
You might be getting confused with the NBN (National Broadband Network), its a government built broadband plan, apparently we’ll be getting 100mbps downloads. Doesn’t matter I won’t be in the rollout area for another 3 years, lol.
But I digress, Australia has had broadband for ages now, about 10 years or so.
I know there will always be lag because of distance, but again I think most of the problem is that 360’s aren’t meant to host 16 player games…

Can’t wait for Halo 5 on a much better system with NBN.

How about XBOXLIVE we pay 50 a year for this I would pay 100 if I knew that my connection was going to be crisp. I have had XBlive for more than 8 years and connection is important to me. Dedicated servers don’t mean -Yoink- either, have you played GOW 3. Deicated servers my -Yoink-. lol

fair enough lol, i actually have no clue what goes on in Australia, i was just going by what i read on the net/friends tell me etc, Apologies if i got that wrong then
I have a solid 60mbt down 20mbt up and over the last few days I’ve had some seriously crappy games, more then good. I am hardwired into my brand new asus router, and my network ping to xbl is always around 2-5. I should not be experiencing this much lag, heck I should probably be host most of the time with this connection.
Before anyone says oh well you share that with your house…it’s just me and my girlfriend in this apartment, and I have the QoS setup properly. when the Xbox is on, it has highest priority, then my girls comp/kindle fire with a 20mbt cap down 2up…which leaves me 40 down 18 up
