This is just a question I was thinking about, and I’m just curious about everyone’s opinion. If Halo 5 turns out to be a disappointment like Halo 4 (and arguably Reach), what will you do afterwards? Will you continue to support the Halo series nonetheless, hoping for 343 to get it right? Or will you give up on the franchise and move on to other games? I, personally, would continue to support Halo, because the potential is there for it to be great again. But what are your thoughts?
NOTE: I’m not saying that I think Halo 5 will fail. This is simply a “what if” question.
NOTE 2: Please be respectful of differing opinions.
What would I do, I just wouldn’t be surprised, and which is why I tell myself not to. But I will anyways and it will most likely be a disappointment as always, just like COD!
Everyone says they aren’t going to buy it, everyone buys it, they think its a disappointment, and they go back to the last generation, which everyone thinks is awesome now, even though 12 months ago everyone was saying the game was terrible.
If halo 5 continues on the path of sprint and armor abilities and no ranked/social division, and it’s bad, I simply wont get an xbox one. Halo 3 was the only reason I got an xbox 360
I don’t know but I won’t be surprised when everyone is playing other games and nobody is playing Halo. Halo 5 better be amazing if its gonna compete with the titles that are coming out.
Halo is the console seller for me. If they show a dedication to appropriately supporting traditional game types, I will be all over it. Console, extra controller, xbox live, more games… you get the idea.
If they continue down the path of infinity slayer without demonstrating intent to cater to the many Halo fans that have fallen off the wagon, I will not be buying the console.
Splinter Cell Blacklist is a similar situation. Its been eight years since I enjoyed a Splinter Cell game. Didn’t even bother with the most recent entry since it abandoned the traditional play style. Blacklist has figured out how to honor the classic mechanics (ghost play style) but still cater to the new blood. I’m definitely going to be buying it and applaud Ubisoft for figuring out how to walk that line.
I highly doubt the next Halo will be bad, since all previous titles were amazing. Better or worse, still amazing. If Halo 5/XBO won’t be better than the rest of Halo games, it will be just as good.
