What will they do with cortana?

I don’t know if someone has already called it, or speculated, but going off of what frankie said in a video not too long ago about how cortana is facing rampancey because she is nearing the end of her “life”, and further saying, “that is something we have to account for and develope in the story.” (thats not Ver Batum, but its close to what was said.)

So obviously Cortana isn’t like other smart AI’s even by definition she is way more human-esk than any other AI we have seen, with the exception being Vergil from ODST, who merged himself with a rogue engineer who was working to repair him. So being that Cortana is a character that they cannot kill off, at least not until this saga is over, without Cortana with the chief the game is somewhat stagnant, at least in my opinion in many of the levels that we play as the chief without her.

My thoughts are that, (if the Didact survived, as the Ur-Didact or Bornstellar, than so did the librarian) Cortana is going to somehow integrate herself at some point in this new saga with a forrunner and become the new librarian, much like the mutation that bornstellar went through but in a different sense, or thats how cortana is going to “die” by elements of her are going to live on through a forrunner.

calling it now, but they wont kill off Cortana or the Chief, calling it now.

If Cortana becomes the Librarian through some complicated process, then it would go hand in hand with my “Chief is the Didact and Librarian’s son” theory. This a valid theory in my opinion. Thumbs Up

As for Cortana and Chief not dying, I disagree. Chief is to valuable to kill off seeing as he IS the game. Cortana has been abandoned more then once, I wouldn’t be surprised if they killed her off.

PS- I don’t like Cortana so maybe I’m hoping more then I’m thinking.

This is pretty much what i was thinking :)Cortana I can personally see being killed off to give chief a loss that will motivate him forward into the next title or two.

It just seems that a lot of the games, even when she was abandoned, they have gone through great story developmental lengths to save her. since the chief and her became a unit and the mission parameters set, they have made a point to stay together, or be reunited.

It would just seem odd to me that they would kill her from her rampancy. If they kill her its going to be in a way that will give you hope that she is somehow going to make it, then boom the bomb will drop and fanboys will cry (literally) plus her “need” for the chief is too developed for them not to put something in the works for her to keep living past her normal smart AI service timeof 7 years.

I don’t know about this theory that John is the son of the didact, but without doing reading that seems super farfetched to me. seeing as how john is in his late forties-early fifties (too lazy for real math) I Don’t see how that could be possible seeing as how until now, john hasn’t come into contact with forrunners yet just tech…

I honestly don’t think Cortana is going to survive Halo 4. I can’t wait to see what direction they went.

I wonder if cortana dies then chief may use the infinity AI instead (if she dies) and if the ship has one. would be interesting if she spends her final days aboard the infinity to prevent herself from losing it completely.
(sorry if that made no sense, I’m not very good when it comes to halo lore)

I don’t think the chief would use just any AI thats why I’m thinking that she will merge so to speak with a forerunner, or be absorbed so that parts of her can live on in someone/something else, for example the librarian.
