What will Project Scarlett official name be ?

With Halo Infinite launching at the same time I believe the console will be name Xbox Infinite. Since the number sequence is all over the place. What do you do you all think ?
Take Care

That honestly sounds pretty cool. I can imagine it being something like that.

Could partially explain why would they drop the number from a mainline Halo game, in addition to burying as much of the connection it had to previous mainline installment & signifying a form of new start with the new engine & the possible rethinking of the brand which looks more and more likely.

So it could be a possibility but on the other hand it could work as years long reminder if the game happens to flop for some reason, im not saying it’s likely but it’s still a possibility. So tying the name of the console to a single game could be risky in PR sense.

Other possibility could be simply Xbox scarlett given the new console has had media attention as scarlett already which would lead to easy 1+1 situation in form of marketing, even for possible newcomers to gaming market.
But that would also be somewhat unusual for usually projects are named differently than the product itself, just counting possibilities.

But definitely it could be something other than those, following the trend that the line of Xboxes currently have had I would think that it’s some random number with some possible symbolic value tied to it.

Xbox Infinite sounds most probable. I guess we can keep guessing… lol.

Xbox 2.

Did anyone at Xbox/Microsoft reveal what Scorpio meant prior to launching the Xbox One? Could they be following a similar kind of codename protocol?

i’d be fine with them just going with Xbox Scarlet. And while Xbox infinite sounds cool, Microsoft isn’t known for naming their consoles particularly well.

Microsoft could tap into mid-2000’s internet culture and name it the xxXboXxx.

Xbox 720, like they shoulda done with the Xbox One lol.

Seriously though, I’m thinking something a little broader than Infinite (I realize Infinite is a broad term, but in this context it is referring to a single launch title). While I’d love it to be called Xbox Infinite, and Mythic Tyrant certainly agrees with you OP, I imagine it will be a bit more inclusive of other games and applications that would be available on the new console. It’d be kinda interesting to see it be simply called “Xbox”, in keeping with some more modern trends that favor simplicity and brevity in naming convention. I also would love to see the console look like the original, with a giant “X” as part of the physical design.

Idk it might just be Xbox Scarlett

If it’s not either Xbox 720 or Xbox Two I will be severely disappointed. In all seriousness though I have no idea. I could see them calling it Xbox Infinite as they don’t seem to care for the simple numbering. Each console has it’s own little reason for what it’s called and whatever their goal is with the next Xbox I think the name will reflect that, that’s how they named the Xbox One after all.

And maybe add a bit of 1337 to it with changing the bo in the middle to 60.

Wouldn’t that cause confusion with the original Xbox, even more so than the Xbox one? I know Microsoft is really weird with their naming of consoles but that could just lack imagination.

Though obviously the physical design would be a callback for the origin of console series but on the other hand I doubt Microsoft would want to have their new console to be accompanied too much with old technology.

I’ve always thought about “Xbox One XL”. XL would denote its processing power, not necessarily the console’s physical size.

Yeah it could be confusing, but the original xbox released almost 20 years ago, so I think enough time has passed to avoid confusion.

That’s also a good point about old tech. Though it could be seen as retro. There’s a lot of nostalgia floating around in the entertainment sphere these days. It doesn’t have to look exactly like the old one, just have an “X” incorporated into the design. Perhaps a sleeker and more subtle “X”.

Could be enough time passed but I would keep it unlikely given there are basically infinite number of choices given line of Xbox has used seemingly random numbers on the new console generations by far.
It could be the name but I would be rather surprised if it was the case.

And that design could be a nod towards the roots of Xbox while avoiding being too old fashioned if it had some more modern design given tech itself is important and the casing should be designed accordingly with thought put to compactness too.
Otherwise, could be a little too “hipster” like. Much like someone designing a smartphone to resemble handset of a telephone, it would definitely be different, nod to the origins & easy to notice from other products but it also wouldn’t be optimal for carrying around, handling or when designing screen. But thats a given.

Nah its going to be the Xbox One 2 XD

Could be Xbox 343 haha! Joke aside I think Xbox Infinity would be good but then it back them into a corner. Where they go after that?

While Xbox Two would be disappointing it is not bad thing to keep it simple and not over complicate things. I say not naming Console after a game is wise as like putting Tattoo of someone you broke up with. Should be interesting when they announce it though

The following Xbox could be Xbox Beyond. Lol.

Maybe just Xbox Scarlett, with similar progression names like Xbox 1/Xbox 1S/Xbox 1X, maybe Xbox Scarlett/Xbox Scarlett Red(d)/Xbox Scarlett Ruby

I wouldn’t mind that, I mean it isn’t the worst name. And I honestly prefer that over Xbox 2.

Also Infinite launching on infinite sounds silly to me.
