So we know Nightfall will deal greatly with what happens in Halo 5, that Marlowe (main character in nightfall) will be the mystery spartan in Halo 5. Also that he is looking for Chief and the Arbiter is helping him. But why are they looking for him? Is it because of something that happens in Nightfall? In the Nightfall poster we see a destroyed Halo ring. Which is awesome we will be returning to the Halos. But why? What will happen that will make Chief essential to protect the future of every Species in the Galaxy? Do you guys have any theories?
My thought on what would be cool? Marlowe is stationed on a Halo instalation. Flood outbreak, which spreads to some of the ships in atmosphere. Those ships jump to slip space and Marlowe is assigned (with Arbiter’s help) to pull chief back from behind enemy lines to help track down and eradicate the flood threat.

That’d be cool but it would make for some very flood heavy gameplay. I’d love for the flood to return, and it probably will due to what was seen in Escalation issue 6. But I’d say the plot would have to be something else. Your idea is cool and may still be a part of what might be happening but it certainly couldn’t be everything. That would make for very very flood heavy gameplay.

Well of course
the flood would just kind of be the catalyst and the looming threat with the storm covenant being the main opposing force.
It probably has something to do with Chief being a key factor in the Covie-UNSC partnership that is threatening to blow up. With Chief being the cataclyst that can show ONI was wrong.
On a more personal level:
From Arby’s perspective it might be about finding back a ‘friend’ that might come to his aid.
From the SIV’s perspective it might serve to humanize the S2 program when it turns out ONI basically kidnapped children, replaced them with flashclones, most of them being dead and then trying to blame Halsey for everything.
We’ll see what will happen.

That is very interesting. Very interesting indeed.
Well, we know Chief is in some way special due to what the Librarian did to him and his Genesong and all that jazz. Plus there’s the whole living-legend-who-saved-the-galaxy angle, I doubt ONI are happy with their best supersoldier just walking off. Of course they’ll be looking for him.

add to that the fact that Chief basically is unique in the sense that the Librarian imprinted Forerunner magic beans in his DNA…Chief is the one that can unlock or close Forerunner tech still laying around waiting to kill the Universe

I have to agree with this something bad may have happened and another Halo ring destroyed. Not to mention that H2 is remastered meaning that the Flood will also have a big graphic over haul like the Covenant and UNSC from H2 we just saw today.
I’m going to go with a mixture of the Flood returning and ONI finally Yoinking! everything up so bad that a new Human-Covenant war is about to break out.
From what we know Marlowe has doubts about his superiors. He is an ONI soldier as stated on his armor.
Who is in control of the rings? ONI. They sanction all research and everything else Forerunner. The UNSC just gives them protection.
Now judging by Kilo 5 Trilogy ONI would do anything to ensure Humanity lives on. Especially against the Sanghelli. So why would Marlowe be talking to the Arbiter? Why would Thel be speaking to him as a reluctant ally? Here’s my theory.
By using the testimony of Chakas (343i Guilty Spark) and the Bornstellar records ONI figures out how to contain a Halo blast locally and how to transport Halo’s. After all Humanity now has Forerunner Slipspace drives, and sense there are no Forerunners the channels are fully opened for Halo Ring transport.
With this new information ONI decides they want to use the rings to destroy the Sanghelli. Now Marlowe, with doubts of his superiors, decides to go rouge and track down the only two known people to destroy a Halo ring. Master Chief, and Thel Vadam. That’s why he’s talking to the Arbiter, and that’s why it sounds like they want to search for the Chief.

But would anyone else know that the Librarian did that to Chief? But I guess they would have probably ran tests on him when he got back and found out if he didn’t tell them himself…
I’m somewhat confused.
Is Agent Clark from the MCC Trailer the same Spartan as Marlowe?

Yes (Frankie confirmed it) and it’s Agent Locke.
Yes, Marlowe has a code name. His code name is Agent Locke.
wait, codename…
So if i understand clearly,
If i make a comparason
John : Chief
Marlowe : Agent Locke
Or i’m totally lost?
Based on the Nightfall wallpaper, it hopefully has to do with a Halo ring.
Does anyone have a link to confirmation as to the spelling of the new Spartan’s name? Locke, Lock, Luck, Clark, etc.?
Also, does anyone have a link to confirmation that Halo: Nightfall’s Marlowe is Halo 5: Guardian’s Agent?
