What will make or break this Halo for you?

For MP or Campaign?
Multiplayer is easy:

  • Lack QoL changes
  • Continuing blatantly manipulative or harmful decision to make money.

Campaign is much weirder for me:

  • Story will be to much up its own -Yoink!-. AKA Halo5itis.
  • They turn Halo into Far Cry.

That is actually my biggest concern so far. Follow me on this for just a second. An open-world setting in varying climates with you, a one-man army, using salvaged vehicles, scavenged weapons, and personal upgrades to takeover outposts to chip away at the bigger menacing force. These culminate in Boss-fights in each territory before you face the main threat.

Is that sound closer to Halo or to Far Cry?

There is a lot of potential for this game to be great. I’m hoping for Invasion or a combination of Invasion and warzone gametypes. The one thing that will break this game and its one of 343 biggest problems. The simplest thing that they should obviously get right they end up getting it so wrong and it’s been a patter of theirs since Halo 4. My personal issue is if they have most of our content that we have had for years In Halo such as customizations, maps, gametypes etc and lock them behind a paywall that is what will ruin this game. I remember how terrible the game went with DLC maps. If you didn’t buy these maps it was a nightmare to have a game load. No matter how much you tried, you would be booted for the server saying "you don’t have the maps to play this gametype. It was 2 maps. Even when you bought the DLC that’s all ya played every map was the new maps. People soon complained saying they miss the old maps. I guess what I’m trying to say using that as an example is if we are forced to pay for content just so we can have better access to the game, people will quickly tire of this and won’t hop back on unless there’s something new. That’s how it is nowa days. These game just cycle with new content and the snowflakes who can concentrate more than week get bored too easily. As with halo fans who play now stop they don’t care about us, at least that’s what it feels like most times.

The only 2 things that will stop me from playing this game are cheaters and lack of playlists. So far I’ve encountered dozens of blatant wall hackers and possible aim bots that I have watched players aiming and following enemy heads through walls and even shooting at players that are behind walls thinking they can see them. And the fact that I can’t play slayer, objective, swat, snipes, ffa, infection, or grifball playlists in a halo (at the absolute very least slayer separate from objective) completely floored me when I started playing. I know ffa, swat and fiesta are coming and hopefully they stay permanently and we slowly start building an actual halo game out of this. Not saying the game isn’t good, it’s super solid and halo to the core, it just lacks so much around the gameplay.

The only Thing that yoinks me up is, that we will Not be able to replay specific Mission. E.g. We have to Start a new game if we want to play the second Mission again…

No ranked slayer, maybe ever. The game is broken for me, period. Threw out the core game mode of the last 20 years.

This campaign better be the most spectacular, most fantastic, most outrageously good, most brain-blowingly exciting thing I’ve ever played. If not, this game is lost. The multiplayer service model is slipshod at best.

Playlists. I don’t care about armor or the BP as long as I can have fun playing. Currently getting really burnt out on playing the two social playlists we have.

Inability to choose Playlist. Everybody quits games o find the Playlist they need for their challenges. Leaving their team down a man. It’s a mess.

Campaign: If they pulled an Halo 5 but for what people have said its seems its fine. I will be playing.
Multiplayer: Already am not playing. Lack of content. Lack of customizasion. Lack of feature. Terrible Ui. And lets not forget the horrible predatory “micro” Transaction.

Content. Playlists and maps.

Love the core foundation here. But right now there’s almost no content. They need to get all the old playlists into the game, they need to get a social matchmaking composer into the game, they need to get Forge in the game, and they need to provide a steady stream of new maps.

If they expect me to play what’s on offer here for six months, I’ll probably split my time between this and the MCC.

If they completely abandon the story arc from H5 in favor of Banished nonsense, Infinite will be my last Halo.

The biggest make-or-break for me is the radar.

If @343 doesn’t make the radar significantly larger so that it’s actually useful, I will honestly just go back to playing MCC. There’s nothing more frustrating to me than having someone walk up behind me because I couldn’t see them on the radar.

Grenade indicators are in a similar boat, especially with Friendly Fire off; I cannot tell you how annoying it is when a grenade lands at my feet and I can’t even see it, or I think it’s far enough away not to damage me and then it barely nicks me, keeping my shield from recharging, or worst of all when I think it’s an ally-thrown grenade so I don’t think it’ll damage me, and I walk right over it only to get obliterated. This would all be fixed if they had a danger indicator that popped up when an enemy-thrown grenade was close enough to damage you.

But the story from 5 was so abysmally bad… I hope they abandon it as much as possible while still making a mild amount of sense lol

I personally hope to see lots of remakes in the future; there are no classic maps in this game and I would love to play on Lockout, Zanzibar, or big maps like Valhalla or Sandtrap with this new equipment set.

They have confirmed that playlists are being set up, albeit not until sometime in late December. The first set will be Fiesta, Tactical Slayer (SWAT), and FFA. Later on there’ll be multiple versions of Social Slayer, so hopefully 4v4 and maybe 6v6 or something to that effect.

Guess 343 broke it in the end…

It isn’t the end. Not yet. Remember MCC at launch? Compare that to MCC now. 343 has proven they can fix stuff, its just annoying how long its taken.

For me personally, nothing, they just need to fix it and get content. “So much potential” and all that.

They have made story decisions which are annoying but I am not exactly sure about a lot of them yet. For example, complaining we didn’t get to see Battlestar Infinity. If there is Time Travel there’s no reason that couldn’t be addressed. Not to mention if they find some other DLC or spin off game to address it or if they circle back around to it.

Make - Game is Halo

Break - Game is advertised as Halo but not Halo, similar to how Halo 4 and 5 went.

I know the game is buggy right now, but I feel it will pull a Fallout New Vegas and be playable soon.
