My XBLG runs out on July 13 and for reasons I won’t explain (I need to save my money for awhile…), I am going to be unable renew my XBLG subscription until January of next year. And I was wondering how do I survive six months without being able to play with people online. I mean I’m addicted. I crave the pink mist of head shots and I’m too far gone to step back down to grunts again. Well that and the points you get for playing offline are meager.
Of course I plan to lurk here at Halo Waypoint of course and spread my own brand of folksy wisdom while I replay REACH’s campaign until my eyes fall out. But I want to know if there any other ways to enjoy interacting with the Halo community while I’m offline other than just lurking through the forums? I’m thinking of getting some peanut butter, asbestos, a duck, some pliers,…

Well, I think Contact Harvest should definitely be read first, because it tells how the UNSC encounters the Covenant.

Maybe he just lives with his parents and only owns 4 dollars.
Love how disrespectful some people are being here…
As for you OP, I don’t know. What I would advise you never do is turn into one of those idiots who sends all friends and recent players asking for a free 48hr code.
I always send them a code back, but it just says Get a Job in it.
even if you get a part time job with 10 hours a week with mininum wage and you live with your parents that should be 60 bucks for a year in like two weeks
Emerse your self in the campaign. See what glitches you can find, easter eggs, etc. Make videos of it and post them on youtube, get closer with people on Halo Waypoint, etc.
There really is a lot of things you can do, also I liked the idea about reading the Halo Books so you understand the campaign more.
As stated before, you could always read the books. Perhaps get Halo PC/Custom Edition or Halo 2 Vista? Or, you could just chat with people on the forums. There’s many things you can do.

Oh come on, there is no need to be like that.
OT:You can always lurk on here as you said but…
You and your friends can make plans to see films and stuff
Sadly, I think life would suck to not have gold for six months. im sorry bro. I would suggest playing through all the games, reading the books, and really get into the story to show your halo nerdness
I get Xbox Live Gold for €43 for 14 months on Amazon.co.uk. I used to pay Microsoft €59.99 every year but I’ve found better and cheaper ways of getting my Xbox Live Gold.
Try selling some stuff you don’t need to make money. May I ask what your saving for?
Get some cheap PS2 games. Most of them are about $2-$5 and a PS2 is around $40 at most. a pawn store probably has them for $20. But even then, most households have them since there are so many of them made. Or just replay old games you already own.

…Wow…just wow…I was lucky to get a years worth and when I did and I worked 2 jobs (or did at the time). So not everyone can afford it all the time. People do have lives outside video games.

> The crux of the matter is I didn’t like the numbers my spreadsheet was showing me for the next six months so I decided to pay a little more on my bills each month and save a little back as a pad. Since I have network issues to fix anyway and I only use one of the services on XBLG I decided to wait until next year and rejoin XBLG after I get Halo 4 and I’ll be keeping more of my money each month again.
> With things as they are I thought I would just wait awhile until I am in a better position to fully enjoy the service rather than throwing my XBL service on top of the heap of other things I’m juggling right now.

> And, yes, I’m 24 and still live with my parents. Where I live it’s the cheapest option since everything around here is upscale apartments or new houses. And about fresh air, I have to walk my two basset hounds every 3 to 4 hours and I take them a few hundred yards out and back each time. I even get to count roadkill while I do it!
