What will happen if I don't have 8GB free?

I remember awhile ago they had said that H4 will require 8GB of free space in order to operate to its full potential. What will happen if I don’t have those 8 free gigs? is it just for online play? I am a university student living in residence who longer afford xbox live, and I really want this game, but I don’t wanna buy it and have it not work because I don’t quite have enough space to run it. Does anyone know the answer?

then you can’t play multiplayer, forge or theatre because it requires an 8GB install from the secound disc.

You won’t be able to play MP and other features which requires 8GB.

really? wow, that really sucks

> really? wow, that really sucks

yea, they really should have made it optional, either install and only use the first disc or swap between discs when you want to play MP and that.

no kidding, I mean if the disc is there anyway, why can’t we just use it. I am sure I’m not the only one who uses an older model xbox and they did not make very large hard-drives for those things

Just buy a pen with 16GB or HDD with more capacity. Problem solved!

it shouldn’t require you to purchase addition accessories to play the game you’ve already paied for.

such is the microsoft way though. everything costs something more

Memory is so cheap you can practically trip over a hard drive.

Oh well, he had an old version of xbox. But a pen with 16Gb is kinda cheap

Based upon what I’ve seen from interviews with 343i, they face some technical limitations / challenges when it comes to bandwidth. If you add on trying to load from the disk versus the unit probably results in a lag. I can not imagine how negative the response from the community would be if the game had serious lag problems. I would presume having to load the game from the unit was a necessary evil. ((((Shrugs))))

This…^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

I was wondering this too. I have the old white Xbox 360 with only about 30 GB left on it. Will this make Halo 4 slower or anything?

The easiest option is to just get a memory stick. You could drown in a sea of those if you’re not careful.

that seriously can’t be the reason, yes the load times for loading up maps and gametypes will be longer but once its all loaded it should all be fine.

unless i’m missing something …

I’m just speculating based upon what I heard an interview with one of the 343i guys. With all the graphic and technical enhancements, 343i indicated that it was definitely a challenge dealing with the bandwidth. So I’m just presuming that loading part of the content onto the unit helps to mitigate that issue.

This was a good question. Hopefully someone will ask in an upcoming interview…
