Halo Wars 2 trailer offers little knowledge, but at the same time offers a lot.
We know Red Team is in it, so that indicates the Spirit of Fire will be in the game.
There are brutes, so this means the game will most likely take place before the end of Halo 3. After halo 3 most brutes returned to their planets and fight (or fought) a war with the Elites.
The UNSC are facing some kind of enemy (presumably the Covenant), that is powerful and dangerous, as seen when the Spartans are falling back.
There are still many gapes and holes that need to be filled, and may be filled within the following months. What are some things you think will be in, or want to be in the game story wise. Leave your comments below!
Well, all I know right now at this time, it has to do with the Brutes either before or after the events of Halo Wars 1 & you may have to fight the Brute Chieftain( Tartarus or Maccabeus its one of them, I’m not sure yet). But it could be after the events of Halo 3, but that is unlikely. I’ll post more thoughts soon.
The brute chieftain literally can’t be maccuabeus, he died near the end of contact harvest 5 years before the events of hw1. The story of hw2 Will most likely take place between 5 and 6 primarily we will probably see the spirit rejoin the unsc forces whose ai have not detected (if any besides Roland dodnt deffect). The brutes are still a major threat after halo 3, very little of the total brute forces were at the ark and during the events of escalation they were clearly a big enough threat to have the arbiter enter into a peace with them.

We don’t know when it takes place. Or if it even takes place while Red team is with Spirit of Fire. We have seen/read of Brutes before the events of Halo CE, in Halo Evolution one of the stories the ODST and the Spartan encounter a Brute. Contact Harvest we have Brutes. I for one so hope that takes place after the events of Halo Wars and solves the mystery of what happen to the Spirit of Fire and it’s crew. If it doesn’t I will be mad.
The wearabouts of the spirit of fire was a lie set to lead the infinity into a trap, but we do know at the end of the comic that you mentioned that the SOF does have at least one infection form on board (possibly flood in halo wars 2)
Sadly admiral Cole “died” early in the war. The reason why I put the quote marks in is because he might have surrvived. If he did survive he would distance himself from the UNSC and most populated planets simply because if he was found he would either be sentenced to death or would be pressed back into service.
3.from what we see in the trailer, red team is most likely on the SOF. We can deduce this by the metal walls and what they say surfing the trailer. While brutes have been around since before the initial event at harvest, they were not widely used in combat till a few years into the war. With this info we can deduce that this is either just a few years before halo wars one or far into the future. Since we don’t see a wide spread flood infection in the trailer we can also assume that this is before the end of halo wars one or when the as mentioned flood infection form is dormant.
I also hope that halo wars 2 will follow the end events of halo wars one but way in the future where there would be interesting enemies to fight.
It’s the unnamed chieftain from the first Halo Wars. He never got a name. He never got a death… and didn’t receive any cutscenes in the campaign. It has to be the chieftain.

Just for the record… there’s no way he could’ve survived the destruction of an entire shield world. Unless a monitor used the portals… like 343 Guilty Spark did with John-117 and Marvin Mobuto.

But cutter did survive we see this at the end of the first game. If your talking about cole, he was never near a shield world the way he “died” was by taking out a covi fleet of about 160 (<–IIRC) by blowing up a brown dwarf.
Just so you know I am not a -Yoink-, just some guy that lives in his mum’s basement reading -Yoink- like this all day.
This is after the avents of halo wars 1, why? Because red team is in the game, I have played the beta and have watched the first ever trailer with Douglas Jerome and Alice. They Do not board the spirit of fire until it arrives at arcadia after the departure of harvest. They then go to a forerunner world later to then be stranded in space.
This also does raise some conclusions because the ark is not partially destroyed as claimed in the end of halo 3. The banshees are clearly classic and the armor that the chieften wears is clearly that of UNSC grade armor meaning that these bruits must have been post war scavengers after the fall of the covanant after the deaths of the prophets. Also the chieften would wear the spartan armor not just as a trophy but as to show his power against a greater foe.
1, it’s is after the events of halo wars 1 due to red team being in the game and in the cinematic.
2, they are on the ark and cutter in any of the lore a has not been to the ark, but the ark is no partially destroyed so dunno what era it takes place in, my friend suggests it’s the greater ark.
3, it looks like the chieften is wearing armor from that of a spartan, the armor looks a little reach like.
4, these bruits could also be remnants left behind as the ark was about to blow at the end of halo 3 but god knows how they would have survived.
But how do I know, all i know is this is after halo wars 1
I really hoping this takes place between Halo 5 and 6. The thought of the spirit of fire popping back up after 30 years of being declared lost with all hands would be such an amazing story. Spirit of fire in countered everything that UNSC and Master chief would years later but unable to relay that info. Then to come home 30 years later see that the war is over and the flood was defeated some what. And the discovery of fourruners.
And in the trailer the brutes don’t look covenant. The Chief brute has a damn ODST chest pieces as a groin pieces. Everything besides the Warthog is human/cov war Era designs. Either 343 has finally stopped meddling where they shouldn’t and understand that Spirit of Fire has been lost for all this time and still sports old tech.
Or hopefully this is what we can expect in future Halos and returning to original designs and art style. But one can only dream
Apparently, The SoF arrives at the Ark (Greater or Lesser isn’t specified, probably the one in Halo 3) after the events of Halo 5 (so expect Cortana’s faction to show up in some form).
Given that the SoF seems to have new mech units (Cyclops replacement) and the Post-War era Warthogs, but still uses the old UNSC logo and most of the other equipment, I wouldn’t be surprised if they meet up with other humans in some form.
Master chief has been captured by atronix and is forced to work with 343 and held at gun point to help them make terrible games. In a Probably distant sector of the galaxy, the Spirit of Fire crew wakes from cryo sleep to pick up snacks and drinks at a nearby 711. After the crew pay’s(and cleans out most of the store), captain cutter realizes he dropped his wallet and returns to the coffee stand where he overhears a 343 employee speaking of the heinous plot to ruin the halo franchise forever. Captain cutter retreats to the Spirit of fire and the crew snap into action to go an rescue chief. They storm atronix’s complex and after a lengthy battle, they defeat him and rescue chief. Unfortunately, a covenant fleet descents upon them and they are forced to retreat. On board, Chief recounts the horrors he had to witness while being held captive. The crew of the spirit of fire is horrified when they hear about what was in store for the Halo franchise. They pick up Blue team at a bus station along the way and meet the Arbiter at a local Arby’s on Sanghelios. There they join forces in a final confrontation and successfully save the halo franchise from a future of broken and lackluster at best games. The Halo community rejoices and The halo franchise lives on.
Well according to the campaign description in the “Know Your Enemy” news drop on this site the game is confirmed as taking place after Halo 5.
This almost guarantees that te Prometheans will make a big appearance. If the goal is a war between the Covenant n UNSC for control of the Ark there’s no way, given that Cortana has plans involving the rings that she ll allow it to be captured.
