Chief: OMG, more Spartans?
S-IV: Pfff, look everyone it’s the Chief! Wearing that dated Mk.V1 armour!
Seriously though, it would be weird and fascinating to see.
On the Spartan-IV’s end: Admiration and awe at seeing the formerly thought dead Master Chief alive and well.
On Master Chief’s end: Confusion at first, but probably like what Kurt thought when he was put in the S-III Program as an instructor, awestruck at the idea of more Spartans fighting to protect humanity.

Pretty much this. I think he’ll also be glad to find out about Fred, Kelly and Linda too.

If they live through Karen Traviss’ trilogy of novels.
He’d probably just salute to them, nothing exciting.
What if the actual villain is ONI/the UNSC?
That would be a huge plot twist - working sort of like Mass Effect’s indoctrination, except with Spartans.

That’d be the worst kind of storytelling I’d ever see in a Halo game. Neither are ancient and only ONI could be described as “evil”, course that evil can be traced to a few individuals.

I don’t mean as the ancient evil.
Another Mass Effect example: the main villian is the Reapers, the side villian is Cerberus.
Now imagine the main villain being the Precursors/Forerunners, the side villain being ONI.

Aren’t the Covenant pirates serving that role as secondary enemy? Why does Chief seem to have to fight every single person in the galaxy now? The UNSC/ONI being enemies serves no purpose.
On master chief’s part, probably nothing special. We can’t see his facial reaction plus he’ll probably just speak a minimal amount in his un-wavering, un-emotional voice.
I think the big shock will come from the Spartan IV’s. As Frank says, Chief is their hero and thought of as dead. Im sure there will be some interesting reactions from them.

Chief has been confirmed to talk a lot, though - the Reclaimer trilogy is about developing relationships, a depth to his linear character, and uncovering an ancient enemy.
I’d love to see this happen, though. I imagine Spartan IVs having huge respect, with the occassional “You got Johnson killed, you -yoink!-”

They only have to live through the Thursday War. And they BETTER live through the Thursday War.
> They only have to live through the Thursday War. And they BETTER live through the Thursday War.
Well Traviss reduced most of the Spartans, Blue Team among them, to very small, secondary character roles in Glasslands. Wouldn’t be surprised if she kills them off.

Don’t her characters have habit of dying?
she will not kill them off, but i think she will now go back to MC being the main character in her books because the Chief has to awake eventually and that has to lead to Halo 4’s plot too.

Her books are set in 2553, Halo 4 is set in 2557. Chief’s still on ice.

maybe she fast forwards her book to 2556?

They weren’t really secondary. The whole Shield World part of the book was very important; just because Lucy took alot of the limelight, it doesn’t mean that they were smaller. The simple fact that they are three of the only 5 remaining S-IIs (Chief, Fred, Kelly, Linda and Naomi) that I can think of. That, and that alone, makes them highly important. Simply not killing them off opens up thousands of possibilities for Halo 4 and beyond.
