What weapons would fit the sandbox? and how?

A simple topic, what weapons do you think will fit infinites sandbox and how do you think they can fit?

For me it would be teh m247 from halo two, re tooled as a replacement for the SAW.

Gameplay function: a 150 round power weapon, that acts like the saw from halo 4/5 but with a difference its fire rate is slower and its damage is higher. IT would take heavy advantage of duel fire modes seen in infinite with it deploying as a stationary MG instead of scoping in when one uses their scope.

Function
primary: deals the same damage as the MA4 but has a slightly slower fire rate this is made up for by the fact it doesn’t need to reload having a 150 round belt.
secondary: secondary when activated will deploy it as a static defense in this mode the weapons fire rate is uncapped giving it 3x the fire rate of an MA4, though it still does the same damage.

While in its deployed mode the user is able to lay down heavy damage in a 120 degree area, but this comes at the cost of being an easier target to hit as you are immobile. when combined with drop walls this allows players to fortify a location with ease. Note as this weapon is a power weapon there is generally only one or two on the map at a time making it near impossible to lock down all directions and fire lines.

Reduce the range/accuracy of the Commando by a bit, and the DMR would fit in nicely as a light sniper with a slightly slow rate of fire. It’s slower TTK would be made up for with relative safety at range. A somewhat lower risk/reward weapon punished by longer kill times.

that and it has been mentioned a few times in news posts so It is likely coming.

Another weapon idea based on older halo weapons.

XM510 Grenade launcher

Info: the UNSC’s standard issue multi grenade launcher. this semi auto 6 round launcher is in the same weapon tier as the hydra, unlike the hydra which fires direct fire micro rockets the xm510 instead fire low angle 40mm grenades.

gameplay feature: fires impact grenades with min range, targets hit at close range will take 1/2th shield damage from a none exploding projectile while targets hit at medium to long range will take upto a kill (direct headshot) from an explosive shell.

the longer the range the larger the explosion do to an internal safety, this prevents explosion at close range but allows a shrapnel detonation at long range.

range damages
close: impact only
medium: impact +light explosive
long: No impact but high explosive with high detonation range.

this weapon rewards good aim with its slow moving projectiles.

Another weapon I think would work.

type-52 Needle rifle

Info: A covenant specialized sniper rifle, the needle rifle may not be a one shot kill to shielded enemies but its ability to turn them into an explosive makes up for it. firing larger chunks of blamite then the needler at longer ranges more then makes up for it.

gameplay features: light tracking at long range, 3 shot super combine, 2 shot to shields 1 shot to headshot. holds a 7 round crystal.

gameplay niche: this would be a sniper class power weapon that functions closer to the DMR, though it does have a double scope, this version of the needle rifle has notably larger projectiles on top of that the three shot super combine even works on vehicles dealing a good chunk of damage to hit armor unlike the standard needler.

Would be neat to have a Banished energy cannon. Like a rocket launcher but when the plasma projectile explodes, it leaves behind a pool of plasma like the ravager .

AE-486M Machine gun

Info: based on the AIE 486H the 486M is built with out the tripod purely for spartan use, as such some notable changes have been made to the platform. Primarily its fire rate has been slightly decreased to allow for easier control of the weapon at full spin, several parts meant for its mounted counterpart have been removed souch as the weapon mounting and box feed system. This has been replaced with a small internal mag mounted to the right of the barrel which holds 50 rounds. The frontal shield has also been improved for walk fire while still retaining its iconic look.

marine note: Apparently there are recording from the war of Chief and ODST’s just ripping these off the tripod… I tried it once, crushed my right foot and broke my arm.

Gameplay: Currently in halo support weapons are a bit of a well mixed bag, in halo 4 and 5 they could actually be a bigger threat to the user then anyone they are aimed at do to the slow down. The idea with this weapon is to make a support weapon that is designed to be mobile unlike the broken turrets. As such there are some gameplay bits that can be added.

First off the shield on the weapon can be made functional protecting the player from body shots at a forward angle, second as a power weapon this wouldn’t be an improvised I ripped a turret of its tripod weapon, instead it would be a normal gun which allows use of grenades and deploys at the cost of speed.

Con: can’t use grenades, utility, or melee while it is equipped.
misc: provides more protection while mounted.

This one might be a dumb idea, but it would be fun. We are spartan’s give us Miniguns.

I don’t want to get too far ahead on this subject yet, I’m waiting for the next tests to give my answer.

Idk I haven’t seen the Plasma Rifle, Energy Sword, or Carbine so im not really sure the full extent of the sandbox yet. We haven’t even seen all the UNSC weapons yet like the Spartan Laser (I’m pretty sure its gone but I hope not.)

Yeah I really hope they bring back the OG plasma rifle, and I mean the OG one the CE version that slight stun mechanic which gives it a unique place in the sandbox.

Sorry for the necro but I got another idea of a weapon that could come back and work.

The LMG from halo 4 and 5, the reason I think it could work if brought back is simple volume of fire in BTB modes is really good at holding people back. ITs utility would not be on the kill but instead on spewing a lot of led at a target area making it hard to progress through it.
