What Weapons Make The Cut?

What weapons from the previous Halos’ do you think should comeback? What weapons should not comeback in Halo Xbox One?

boltshot and storm-rifle far, far away from the halo-universe.
the plasma-rifle asap, maybe the MP and the mauler back…
and dual-wielding…gosh, how i loved it runnin and gunnin with two MP’s…

I highly suggest that the BR does not return as it is now.

I’d like to see the noob tube and plasma launcher come back, and if I could remove any 3 they’d be the bolt shot, binary rifle and dmr.

Of all things that you don’t want to return you chose 2 unique and skillful weapons. Why?

Anyway Flamethrower, Missile Pod, Sentinel Beam, and the Pro Pipe need to make a comeback.

Halo 3 Flamethrower: Sluggish, Underpowered
Incineration Cannon: Bland
Binary Rifle: Bland, Imbalanced
Scattershot: Not enough difference between it and Shotgun.
Bolt Shot: Inferior to Plasma Pistol.
Pulse Grenade: Situational, Underpowered
Sticky Detonator: Situational, Underpowered
SAW: No significant downsides. All power weapons should have a weakness.
SMG/Plasma Rifle: Poorly balanced, redundant.
Brute Arsenal: Doesn’t fit current canon, mostly redundant. Keep Gravity Hammer.
Fuel Rod Gun: Unoriginal, poor balance, Halo CE’s was better.
Beam Rifle: Woo, a purple sniper rifle. Edgy.
Plasma Launcher: Unique, but niche is already filled by the Laser, and better.
Plasma Cannon (aka turret): Only useful for campaign purposes.

This isn’t easy. I’d first have to know how the weapons will function. Will the carbine be better at CQC than the BR, or better at range? Will the DMR be hitscan or projectile?

There’s a lot of factors.

But when I say not to return, I mean to say “Not to return as they are.” I want massive redesign changes for all of them. And when I say “Want to see come back” I don’t mean just copy and paste and drop into the game on top of the current sandbox.

Specifically I want the Incineration Cannon to morph into the Plasma Launcher. It’s current status as a noob friendlier, thanks to wider spread, single shot Rocket Launcher doesn’t do enough to distinguish it from the actual Rocket Launcher.

Same for the Scattershot. Right now it’s a crappier Shotgun. The shots bouncing off the walls feature is nifty but hamstrung by the constraints as a shotgun. I think that it was meant to replace the GL, along with the Sticky Det and Railgun, but it’s functionality as a indirect fire and suppression weapon isn’t working. Morph it into the GL.

And bring back the Plasma Rifle whole hog. Make it a secondary. Move the PP back to a map pickup.

As for the Boltshot: Ditch the secondary fire mode completely. Make it a “pocket sniper” and follow the traits of actual magnum revolvers. Slow fire rate, high damage, small clip size, deeper scope than the Magnum.

Binary Rifle? It’s following the current Incineration Cannon design of extremely easy to use Power Weapon. I say scrap that idea and make it a single shot sniper rifle with the same power as the current Sniper Rifle: Headshot will kill from full health/shields while bodyshot will only drop shields and wound. Arguably it’s not much to distinguish it from the Sniper so I’m open to ideas on this.

Storm Rifle? I want the mechanics changed around more to emphasis it’s difference from the AR. I want it to be a weapon that you can SCB for almost forever with a much deeper clip than the current AR. Again, open to suggestions on this one.

DMR? Move it to a sub Power Weapon in the same vein as the SAW and Conc Rifle. 3SK, little to no aim assists.

And while I’m here: I would want to see the Suppressor given more oomph to make it more akin to current SMGs and the Sticky Detonator made into a grenade pickup.

I would just get rid of the DMR and light rifle. We really don’t need two long range weapon sets(snipers and long ranged loadout weapons). Plus they don’t do well in loadouts(xboxdigger had a point).

I also think having covenant counterparts while redundant at times, helped machinima out a lot. Shows about covenant wars came out, and they had entire arsenals to use in their shots.

Well, depends on many factors, as said above.

The DMR as a hitscan, accurate weapon might need to be removed.
But having a single-shot, medium range projectile weapon isn’t that problematic.

We can still have a large covenant arsenal without having reskinned weapons.

I dislike the Plasma Repeater, but it at least functions uniquely.

Basically I think most of the weapons in Halo 4 sound and look horrible, so modifications are mostly based on that. Also, I think the more variety the better in Forge and Custom Games so I’m open to all weapons being included within those modes. Pardon the mess.

I think that’s all of them. Except the Magnum. I don’t care about the Magnum (not sure what to do with it). As a side note, all weapons should be fully customizable in Custom Games as well as individual weapons in Forge (with savable templates). That’d be fantastic. :wink:

I’d kind of like to see the return of the sentinel beam, at least in campaign.

As for the DMR, it wouldnt’ hurt me to see it leave. And as much as I love the BR… Maybe that needs to go too. Perhaps we need a new utility weapon.

I think that the current forerunner loadout guns need to go. In fact,the whole set of forerunner weapons needs to be rethought. In order to balance loadouts, the forerunner loadout weapons are very similar to their Covenant and UNSC counterparts. It makes them feel like equals, when really forerunner weapons should be much more. Forerunner weapons need to be unique and different from the other two faction’s weapons. If this means removing them as starting weapons, so be it.

Bring back:

– Flame Thrower (just for fun and customs)
– Spike grenades
– Brute shot (1000 times cooler than concusion riffle)
– The Spiker (even if I almost never used it, i loved the way it looked and was throwing spikes into my enemies body)

I just love this raw and brutal weapons.

Of course I wanna see Weapons like the BR, Rocket, Sniper, shotgun etc.

Remove:

– The DMR and light riffle. (pocket snipers)
– The beam riffle (or make way less auto aim)
– The concussion riffle (I hate how it looks, sounds, and I hated to master it)
– Boltshot (we dont even have to talk about it)
– Railgun (nice idea and look, but totally overpowered)

To be honest, they can keep all the weapons, at least for customs. The incen Canon looks amazing but is too overpowered.

Weapons from halo reach: Needle rifle, Grenade launcher, Human sniper, focus rifle, FRG.

Weapons from halo 3: flame nade, spike nade, Brute shot, needler, spartan laser.

Weapons from halo 3 ODST: ODST pistol, ODST SMG.

Weapons from halo 2: Brute plasma rifle.

Weapons from halo CE: Plasma nade, human nade, Plasma pistol, Rocket launcher.

Misc weapons: MA5K carbine.

My beloved Bruteshot oh how i miss it.
