What weapons do you want to see in Halo 4?

Do you want any weapons to make a return to halo 4, from previous halo games?
Or maybe some new weapon ideas, like a gauss rifle might be cool. Share your ideas.

Just about all of them, halo 4 is getting a much bigger weapon sandbox this time so I think this is the case.

That would be great. I would love to see a larger variety of weapons in halo 4.

CE AR
ODST SMG
Reach Pistol (1 less shot kill)
H3 BR (Short-Mid)
DMR (Mid-Long)
Grenade Lancher
CE:A Sniper
Rocket Launcher
Spartan Laser
Shotgun
Frag Grenade

Reach Beta Plasma Repeater
Reach Beta Plasma Pistol
H3 Needler
Needle Rifle
Concussion Rifle
Reach Spiker (half kill time)
Sword
Reach Beta Plasma Cannon
Focus Rifle
Plasma Grenade
Spike Grenade

Size=/=quality.

I want to see a diversified sandbox where selecting semi-automatic weapon A versus B will actually have a fun impact on the game (as opposed to just giving me another flavor of the same bloody thing). Just take the automatics from Reach. Between the Plasma Rifle and Spiker you had the exact same weapon just with different ammo mechanics. Then you have the plasma repeater and AR and they fill just about the same niche with the difference lying in the fact that the PR is just -Yoink-. Between all four you perhaps have a couple of interesting weapons if you cut out the chaff but as is it’s just an uninteresting mess which puts the player in a position where they have a much harder time recognizing what the best/most entertaining weapon is. Some games (like Rainbow Six) can get away with five or six guns in the same general category but only because they invest so much of the game in basic gunplay. Halo, with it’s golden tripod of guns-grenades-and-melee, doesn’t so the difference between, say, a Needle Rifle and DMR or Sniper Rifle and Beam Rifle doesn’t count for as much as there are other features to detract from the act of simply shooting someone in the face (though that is by no means a bad thing. That’s just Halo’s style.) So the benefit of having such fine distinctions in the sandbox is very little.

So, cut it down and space things out. Halo is an arena shooter at heart and it should look to those games, and their well diversified but concise weapon sets, for inspiration.

I personally would like the spike grenade to return, although it is very similar to the plasma grenade, it adds more brute culture to the game. maybe also the fire grenade or the flamethrower or some new fire-based weapon could be cool. it could lead to fire-based medals and commendations and kill streaks, and I agree with having the same weapons but past versions, like, as TTU Gunslinger said, the needler.

You could stick spike grenades to walls. Another anti-camping tool alongside the grenade launcher. Halo needs these kinds of weapons.

What about other H3 weapons like covenant carbine, missile pod, and normal SMG?

You’re right, although a lot of the campers have snipers and are in hard-to-reach places, that would help. And I forgot they could stick to walls.

Actually about the missile pod, as effective as it is, it gets rid of flying vehicles a little too fast, and they are key to the MM gameplay.

SPIKE GRENADE

I just love the “meat splash” sound it makes when you stick someone.

I’d also love to see it’s spikes actually have a bigger impact. Maybe pop tires on vehicles.

ODST magnum(Unsilenced)
Needle Rifle
CE Assault rifle
Focus Rifle

Another Weapon that I would like to have in Halo 4 is A heavy beam weapon that would function like the locust cannon in Halo Wars. It would initially do low damage then(A few seconds or so later) build up and do very high amounts of damage. It could even have an overdrive mode that would do tons of damage, but it would drain the battery quicker and the operator would be immobile while firing. It would over heat after an extended period of firing.

Carbine isn’t nearly as interesting as the NR in my opinion since the NR has the supercombine.

Reach killed vehicle play. I played a match in BTB tonight. NOBODY got into the ROCKET HOG. let me say that again. People avoided the ROCKET HOG because it’s too easy to die in vehicles. I want vehicle play to return. I was never a fan of the “heavy weapons” anyways though pyro was always interesting, but the animation killed frame rate and the grenades, as fun as they were, we’re ridiculously overpowered. Maybe I’d like to see them on open BTB maps where they wouldn’t be so deadly.

The normal SMG was just plain useless. Give me an upgraded (and more memorable) ODST SMG.

I know what you mean about the rocket hog. But a huge reason i avoid it is because it wont stop shooting. You can accidentally hit the ground or a wall near you and damage the vehicle itself, especially at high speeds. People tend to go for the regular machinegun warthog or even the Gauss one, when its available, because the splash damage is way lower and the so are the chances of getting an unintentional suicide or betrayal with the rockets. But what you said is true about some vehicle, like the mongoose, or even the falcon when your by yourself, because they are such an easy target to people with heavy weapons,

maybe they could have both of the magnums, from H3 and ODST, one silenced and one not. One can short ranged and one can be short-mid ranged. There could also be the silenced SMG for a playlist that involves stealth and silence.

I want the Halo 3 SMG as a Secondary weapon.

Halo 3 FireBomb Grenade.

A new short-range weapon that for the UNSC, because the Covenant has 2, and the UNSC has 1.
It’s a new Flamethrower that is weaker than the other short-ranged weapons, but the most fun!

Halo 3 Beam Rifle.

New EMP Grenade to fill up the remaining space.
It’s basically the Halo 3 Power Drain, but:
-It travels at the speed of a grenade instead of the slow-moving power drain when thrown.
-It doesn’t continue to send out an EMP for several seconds, instead a quick EM burst.
-The area-of-effect is much smaller, about that of a Plasma Grenade explosion.
-It’s a Forunner-made weapon.

Not a new weapon, but make FRG track aircraft like the Rocket in Reach.
And get rid of the stupid Plasma Launcher!

ODST Magnum as a Secondary weapon, it differs from the other Magnum in that it:
-doesn’t show up on the radar when fired.
-is quieter and less likely to alert those using Turtle Beach headsets.
-is less accurate than the regular Magnum.

ODST SMG as a Primary weapon instead of a Secondary weapon like normal SMG.
So far, the UNSC has the BR and DMR for their precision weapons.
All we know of for autos is the AR, ODST SMG would be it’s counterpart.
It would differ from AR in that it:
-doesn’t show up on radar when fired.
-is quieter and less likely to alert those using Turtle Beach headsets.
-is less accurate.

New “Beam Cannon” that is like a Plasma Cannon mixed with a Spartan Laser and a Focus Rifle.
It has an EXTREMELY high rate-of-fire, so fast it almost looks like a laser.
It does VERY low damage.
It’s very accurate.

Thats all I got…

I’ve heard several people mention a laser/beam like weapon. I would find really interesting.

Farsight

maybe a crowbar

Brut Shot with a blade!!!

> Brut Shot with a blade!!!

That would be awesome. a melee/heavy weapon would add such variety to the game
