The Plasma Rifle is much more Iconic than the 3 shot Magnum by a longshot.
And that’s not even mentioning that the Mangler is essentially the CE Magnum with more skill attached to it specifically because the introduction of the CE Magnum will cause too many problems.
I understand where you guys are getting at tbh, but I’d still consider it iconic. Mostly because whenever I talk to someone about Halo it’s one of the few things people know about the game.
I grew up in Asia where the game isn’t really that popular. Whenever I’d have a conversation about Halo with someone else who hasn’t played it, the magnum is usually somthing they know about. Not through pictures, or gameplay experience, but memes passed around about how broken it is or how Halo has the best pistols in gaming. And the latter doesn’t even make sense cause we can argue we only have 2 pistols that are actually OP throughout the series.
Even as a Destiny player on Playstation I’ve met enough people more interested in finally being able to test out THE OP Magnum everyone memed about instead of the BR because of it’s notoriety.
Not really arguing tho since we can’t really settle this through anything empirical, and it’ll mostly be anecdotal, so I just wanted to put another perspective out there. But internet culture seems to love the Magnum, and how notorious it is makes it known even to those who haven’t played the game.
@Sodium_Bath I definitely agree that the Mangler takes more skill, but the Magnum is skillfull in it’s own right and it does have a really low TTK unlike the Mangler. Which I think would just emphasize some of the best parts of 2v2s.
Either way, I do think just like all the other guns in the past it does deserve a spot in Infinite.
The Halo CE shotgun that could hold 12 rounds and that you can carry 60 extra for basically the human counter to the gravity hammer and plasma sword why they ever removed it is beyond me

Shotgun:
The halo 3 shotgun specifically, as it has a shorter range than both the sword or hammer but perfectly allows for each of the three CQC weapons to counter each other if used right.
With the gravity hammer, you have to get it out and close the distance - The range & swing of the gravity hammer leaves just enough time to close the gap. Equally, any shotgun more powerful than this; Reach, 4, 5 ect would completely kill the Bulldog or Heatwaves position in the Sandbox.
With sprint and various other mobility options, this shotgun is perfect for Infinite.
I want to see the M90 shotgun of course, the M7 SMG, the DMR, and sure, would love to see older variants like the MA5B and M6D.
Personally I don’t think it’s that important to work on a jigsaw puzzle of how they “fit into the sandbox.” This of course primarily applies in multiplayer, and I feel like through play-listing or something they could allow certain people to keep their preferred minimal sandbox.
Personally I’ve always been a “more the merrier” kinda guy with this… would be happy to see the DMR, Commando, and BR all there together, if they fill the same role, it just comes down to personal preference/player choice.

Fitting things into the Sandbox is also about balance in the Sandbox. And no balance, means a RNG nightmare filled with fluke moments.
