So I want to get better with precision weapons and the methods I’m taking to do this is dumping the AR after I get to SR 149 from my arsenal in all playlists since I rely on it too much, and then eventually limit my SMG use to wear if I was playing Warzone I’ll only use level 6 req or higher variants and only use, Magnums, BR’s and carbines until them. This will then apply to infection, and Super Fiesta.
But that’s just my ideas so far, I’m curious of anyone else’s practice methods for inspiration(Exuberant Witness got me hooked on that word lol).
I’ve heard of some people limiting their hand weapon usage to magnums only in warzone but that’s it.
I feel if you truly want to be successful at H5 you shouldn’t limit yourself to what weapon you should use. Very weapon fills a niche and can be successful depending on your situation. With that being said yes I have set “rules” or whatever to help me practice with precision weapons because yes you will have more success the better you are with them. There will be times I will play FFA and I will strictly use the pistol. Sometimes I will play firefight and only use precision weapons.
When someone is in a tank of sorts, I stay back with a sniper rifle to provide support and eliminate any hijackers if possible. I will also finish off any weakened targets should they survive a tank round.

I don’t know if I’ll limit them forever so much as try not to make certain weapons my go-to anymore to improve in the long run.
Don’t limit yourself, assess the way the game is going and make a loadout for that scenario. If you’re playing Battle of Noctus and the enemy are in the middle base, grab a BR with an AR/SMG (depending on how close you’re willing to get) to put yourself at more of an advantage in a CQB environment with lots of cover. A DMR wouldn’t be of much help in the middle base.
If you want to get better, don’t force unnecessary weapon combos into scenarios where they simply won’t be the best, instead you should change how you play to accentuate your loadout. If you want to play with a DMR, try to avoid jumping into a skirmish in the middle of the map, if you want to use the Magnum, find a place where you know there won’t be too many enemies, and so on.
If just want to up your precision weapons game, I think WZ FF is a good place to do it. You’re more or less limited to loadout weapons, and are forced to keep a distance from the hordes of AI enemies. Which allows you to get a lot of practice with magnums, BRs, DMRs.
Octagon is the way I practice aim sometimes and other times I just go on a social playlist like skirmish for a match and get warmed up, then go to ranked.
I wouldnt say that I really practice with any particular weapon, but sometimes I will keep using the pistol in wz until I get to the dmr and skip the br all together. I also rarely use any of the weapons with increased bullet magnetism(h2br, sentinel br) because I don’t want to become dependant on them.
If I feel my shot is kinda off I like to hop on Warzone assault and try to get the highest accuracy I possibly can even if that means dying a lot, I just focus on nailing every shot and pacing myself if I need to. The reason I do this is because my biggest problem with aiming is I tend to spam fire in combat, I try to fling lead hoping that if I get enough bullets in the air I’ll win and at higher level play that isn’t enough and forcing myself into the habit of pacing shots is really the thing I need to get my accuracy up.
I don’t know, maybe it’s just a me thing, but after a handful of conditioning matches in Warzone assault I see a notable increase in accuracy.
Level 2: Swap the AR for AR with sound dampener; swap magnum with gunfighter magnum
Level 3: Swap AR with sound dampener with hybrid BR.
Level 4: Swap hybrid BR with Halo 2 BR.
Level 5-7: Swap gunfighter magnum with power weapon and/or hop in a tank.
Level 8-9: Swap Halo 2 BR with sentinel BR with bayonet and either a) keep gunfighter magnum or b) swap gunfighter magnum with a power weapon.
Once you find your niche, I think it’s okay to stick with certain weapons, though, it never hurts to shake it up every now and again. I find that using these particular weapons usually gets me the most kills or in the top four (score wise) for any given match.

Magnum only in warzone assault, and if you don’t care about your rank in the hcs playlist that’s another great place to practice.

I’m thinking of doing more HCS, I just wish it gave me slayer matches more often.
I don’t play much competitive Arena, but I do play lots of BTB and Warzone (which, these days, it’s pretty necessary to have a good shot in those gametypes, especially for a solo querer like me who unintentionally goes into lots of sweat fests). What I do to warm up my shot is play any difficult of Warzone FF. When playing FF, try to use only Magnums for the first game you play, then transition into BRs, H2BRs, and DMRs for consecutive matches. I refrain from using ARs, SMGs, or REQ weapons (aside from Carbines, Lightrifles, Sniper Rifles, Binaries, and Beam Rifles) during these warm up matches as, IMO, they don’t require as much skill as using the loadout precision weapons (obviously there will be close-quarters engagements, but using automatic weapons should be easy enough when given the opportunity in your routine matches.
I’ve been having recent success in an increase in Accuracy ratings in the Carnage Report, so I definitely recommend this method if you haven’t tried it already. Using Firefight as a warm-up is surprisingly helpful, as you’re still practicing with clutching headshots (even if it isn’t against Spartans). Playing some Octagon could help, but I’d recommend having played some FF before Octagon just so your accuracy doesn’t get potentially ruined by someone who is already warmed up.

My weapon practice(that sometimes fails/wins but works for me, results may vary if other players use my tactics): Go in guns blazin’, use SGT Johnson’s best advice ever: “SHORT CONTROLLED BURSTS!”, and do everything in my power/net power to avoid getting blasted away by the BR mains who like to 4 burst their enemies 24/7. h and chuck a few grenades at the right time also.

I have a similar setup to you in Warzone:
Level 2: Switch magnum with magnum w/ extended clip
Level 3: Switch magnum w/ extended clep for hybrid BR
Level 4: Switch hybrid BR for H2 BR and replace AR with SMG
Level 6: Switch H2 BR with hybrid DMR and apply upgraded shields armor mod
Level 8: Switch SMG for SMG w/ energy bayonet
My friends and I normally practice by trying to kill each other when we are on the same team. If you can kill a friendly with zero aim assist then killing an enemy with some is easy.
Rocking a DMR or BR is always a good decision… remember to aim primarily with the left stick, not the right. Use your strafe to keep a steady shot. Both are 2-shot beatdowns. Pre-nade oncoming/high-traffic intersections… lots of fundamentals to work on and maintain proficiency.
Having a heightened sense of “Halo intuition” always helps too… Halo is really more of a mental game. You can develop a good shot and mechanics and whatnot, but if you aren’t playing smart, you’re not going to perform well.
If your goal is to get better at HCS, then I would only use HCS weapons. Drop the automatics and use precision weapons only. Work on your aim and take it slow. You’ll eventually get better with practice.

I wanna get better in that too but I was trying to use those kind of weapons in all playlists.
