What we want from the end of of the Chief

I’m pretty sure my opinion is shared here. We want a death. Not a stupid unoriginal, sacrifice by blowing up something. We want him taking down millions of covenant and Prometheans, maybe some flood. We want several ARMIES of enemies to take him down. Not even that. He should win this massive battle. He’s a friggin Spartan II, THEY NEVER DIE. The full potential of the chief should be shown. But, as much as that would be awesome. I want something heartbreaking as well. Have Cortana kill him. Have his best friend end him. Have blue team kill him. Something epic, yet sad. Seriously doe. If you pull a Kat. I will friggin walk up to Frankie, and slap him. 117 times. Master Chief should go out destroying Cortana or Prometheans, or the covenant… Again. Happy New Year!

Lol Happy New Year. Yea I admit they didn’t tap into his potential at all with the H5 campaign. Not that I didn’t like mixing it up with a different character, but that character was just soooooo bland. If it was Buck it would have 1000x better than Locke.

Yeah… Even Palmer :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Let’s clear out some confusion here:

  • Gamma Company Spartan-IIIs are the best Spartans (stated by Kurt-051) and most of them are pretty much dead. - S-IIs and S-IVs are equal in Mjolnir armor. - The one Spartan that has gone through the most intensive enhancements was Ilsa, who was a prototype S-IV and may be dead.
If we want John to have a memorable death, it is not because he is a S-II but because he’s been the protagonist for more than 14 years.

Bucke really REALLY needs to get his own game.

I agree with the last point, however, S-IV’s are not equal to II’s. By experience and training, S-II’s are far better. Buck, one of the most experienced UNSC veterans had forgotten many things from his basic training that a S-II finds trivial. A S-II is like a god to S-IV’s claim the S-IV themselves in New Blood. S-IV are Demi-gods. Spartan III’s are pretty much equal to S-II,s. But you know… Linda would rek anyone. So… Linda wins.

I’d like to have a final mission that does justice to the legacy of the Chief.

A final mission that sees us playing with him one more time next to Cortana against impossible odds, knowing their end is inevitable would be great. One more time…for old time’s sake. Preferably with a Warthog Run. Sort of like a Western ending: the hero riding off into the sunset. Just something beautiful with little violence to be honest. Followed by a nice cutscene and without showing his face. Preferably with H2’s Epilogue playing.

Next to that: a final stand taking place at the same time while playing as one of Blue Team reminiscent of the final stand in Halo Reach. Seeing our oldest friends die one by one while ultimately dying as well, just before Chief and Cortana do whatever is needed to save the day. Which I can imagine being something that includes a Halo firing or something similar.

It has been stated by developers and Frank O’Connor himself that S-IIs and S-IVs are equal while wearing Mjolnir armor. “New Blood” was kind of… crappy and underwhelming fanservice that spent too much time retelling one of the most boring Halo games (which didn’t have a proper plot until the last two missions, just like this book and its two last chapters); while somehow failing as a fanservice and screwing up every character in Alpha-Nine just to have Buck in Osiris.

You may want him dead, But I highly doubt most fans feel that way. Most would might be ok if he went MIA again. Maybe. I am all for More halo games offering up new characters such as locke and Buck. not sure how the fanbase would like that. Some hate Reach now simply because MC is not in it. We see complaints often here about lack of MC in the new game. Which I personally didn’t have issue with. As I say often, lots of people struggle with change.

He said in a fist-fight. Let’s face it. Using logic. Which would win. Technically a Spartan II can have Gen 2 armour. Plus, one was trained from six years old with more extreme augmentations and about 35 years of experience of constant war, plus all the training. Versus an exceptional normal soldier. That has only had the max training of an ODST and some catchup for S-IV

Eh. True. I just feel like it would be… Annoying for a non definitive ending, idk. I love chief, he is awesome. But he even said he knew he was gonna die in battle. But still. I wouldn’t care too much. I think Halo 5 dealt with the lack of chief well, with so few missions of him. It felt like it still revolved around him.

Maybe a bit like the last mission of Halo 3, you are reunited with Cortana for one last mission, maybe Blue Team at your side.
You activate the Halo Array at the Ark, then Warthog run that is 3 times longer back to the ship, and then Chief sacrifices himself to let Blue Team escape.
The final cutscene is Chief and a hard light Cortana wandering the grassy savanah of the Ark having one last moment together before the Halo fires.

Still revolved around Chief? think you played a better version of H5 than I got. Version I played revolved around TRYING to impress me with the marvelous Fireteam Osiris

What I want for Master Chief is for him (and ideally Cortana) to do the Voyager/Planet Hulk thing and get sucked into a worm hole or something and end up on the other side of the universe or another time period for a series of spin off shooters in a completely different environment. No Covenant, no UNSC, no Prometheans, no Forerunners. New enemies, new allies, new weapons, new challenges and a totally new story as Chief tries to survive in a world that is completely alien to him.

Meanwhile Osiris can have the main Halo franchise and continue fighting the Covenant and Prometheans or whatever and keep the main story going. I do feel like Chief has played his role in the narrative and should take a step back to give some new characters space to breath, but he’s not ready to die. Spartans never die and he’s such an iconic video game character at this point that people will pretty much always want to play games featuring him. So take him out of the main narrative, use him to expand the universe and introduce some new concepts that can potentially be seeded back into the setting of the main series. Plus, Chief finally getting back and getting his hands on an AR again would be the perfect set up for an epic story.

Heck, they could make the mechanics of the Master Chief games more like old school Halo to appease all the players who want the gameplay to remain static.

Linda is my bae 4 lyf, but I still see the game for what is beyond that fabulous Blue Team Booty. Sadly H5 could have been much better story wise. BUT it’s main problem was the totally misleading propaganda/advertising

Yeah… I was disappointed with the advertising I must say

Bump

On further research. And overcoming my sentimentality, yes S-III’s are somewhat better. But Chief is still Like a god, a demon. So yeah.

I wonder how Chief is going to go down…
