Well, I’ve been a huge fan of Halo for many years now. I have invested hundreds of hours into it, as well as convinced many of my friends to play the franchise. I want the upcoming Halo Infinite to be awesome and very commercially successful. Although to be honest, though I have had high hopes for this game, it simply didn’t feel like Halo, and sadly… it felt slightly soulless. When I first got the beta, I kept trying to double jump because it felt like I was playing Titanfall or something.
I understand that 343 has a very difficult task trying to make both fan groups happy. They have their old fans that want the game to remind them of the original trilogy, while they also have their new fans (and potential new fans) that want intense action, giant explosions, and an adrenaline rushing player vs player online experience.
I’m going to be honest when I say this. I feel like 343 has actually done a great job trying to make both of those fan groups happy. I’m loving the lotion tracking, I’m loving the running compromise, the mobility is great… but I still don’t feel like I’m turning on my Xbox 360 and playing Halo Reach’s “invasion” with my cousins during the thanksgiving football game. It feels like I’m turning on my Xbox one and playing Titanfall 2 because I got home from work before my wife and I have nothing better to do. I want a few more things that remind me of Halo, but I also know they have to keep up with the times.
I’m creating this so other people can say what they want added to the game. For me personally, I want more of the old weapons. Playing the beta confused me because none of the weapons were familiar. Though I thought the weapons were neat, I’d still like some of the old weapons. Let’s bring the Brute plasma rifles, or the Mauler, or even a charge rifle! I just want a few more classic items that I can look at and think, “Wow… I remember when I first used this gun.”
