What we need to see in the next Halo!!!

**Sorry this is so long, but this is for the future of halo. I really hope this post gets read and 343 has a chance to see it. Please share this thread, because this is what we need to see in the next halo for it to be any good. Also I apologize for any misspelled words or if my thoughts jump all over the place.

Halo 4 was by all means a step in the wrong direction for Halo. For Halo to return to its former glory, 343 needs to swallow their pride and admit Halo 4 was a failure. They need to tell us what we all want to hear, that they plan on taking Halo back to what we know and love and bring back the feeling of going to a friends house and split screening halo giving us that competitive edge to beat our friend, memories to last, and simply fun playing the game you love with the people you love.
By doing this 343 will regain the respect of all halo gamers and give them a reason to buy their next game.

But we need more than empty promises. We need a game that is both FUNand COMPETITIVE. They need to bring joy and competition to all aspects of the game (multiplayer, forge, campaign, and custom games). Give us a fun ranking system in multiplayer that we can race our friends to see who reaches the highest rank first, but make it challenging, not something easy where people reach the top rank in a week and stop playing cause there bored. Use the same ranking system that we are all familiar with and love, the ranking system from Halo 3. The CSR and SR ranking system confused people and made people not sure of what they were trying to accomplish with a useless number. GIVE US A RANK NOT A NUMBER. Give us a social playlist for fun when we don’t feel like being competitive and a ranked playlist for when we do. I think you guys know what you have to do for the competitiveness of multiplayer wich includes de-scope, no sprint, no dmr, less weapons, and BETTER MAPS. The maps in Halo 4 were way too big and the battles were drawn out and boring. Make better and more competitive maps like sanctuary from halo 2 and gardian from halo 3. The multiplayer is the biggest part of the game and need to be perfect. You can get away with some mistakes in campaign and forge, but the multiplayer will make you or break you. But multiplayer does get repetitive and boring, so make sure you give us something else to do. Spartan ops was a good idea but didn’t work! Focus on the campaign, forge, and custom game to give us the joy halo needs.

In campaign give us a good fun story that we can share with our friends. Bring back skulls and terminals that a hard to get and give some weird and strange Easter Eggs and achievements to go with them. It is always fun to unlock achievements that are a pain in neck to get with your friends and then brag about it to those who can’t get it. This is also a good way to give youtubers great content to make. Tutorials on how to unlock certain achievement, easter eggs, and hidden skulls. The more content that people can make the more popular the game will be. Also don’t be afraid to put a couple of glitches in the campaign either. This is always fun to do and also gives youtubers more content to put out and there is no harm in it. So what if someone finds a way to skip halfway through the mission, they are still playing your game and having fun.

Forge and custom games go hand in hand, but are more reliant on the mechanics of the game. Halo 3 custom games were wacky, challenging, colorful, and fun. Halo reach and halo 4 custom games were perfectly set up stages where there really was no challenge and it wasn’t fun. Forge doesn’t need to be perfect and easy to use. Forgers will make good maps no matter what. The best maps were made in halo 3 and that forge panel was the hardest to use. You had to glitch the game just to get two objects together. Also don’t be afraid to put some fun glitches in forge that you can also have fun with your friends and make more youtube content.

All in all your game doesn’t need to be perfect. It only need to be FUN and COMPETITIVE

If you are to speak properly then reach in your opinion was a step in the wrong direction and halo 4 continued in the wrong direction.

Secondly i agree halo 4 fell short in some areas and 343 has openly admitted to some mistakes.

Lastly you really should stop living in the past. Halo will not ever be the same again. Either get over it or leave. Halo 3 was fun for it’s time. But if i had to play something similar to halo 3 for the next 4 years i’d by the game for campaign and be done with it after that.

When will you people learn it’s impossible to relive the glory days forever. Play halo 3 now while it has an increased pop due to being free. Because as soon as next month rolls around it’s going to be dead again.

The fact that halo 3s forge was difficult to use had nothing to do with the quality of it products. It was that all the objects looked different thus allowing more creativity. The fact that its easier to use now allows for more good maps to be made in shorter times and allows people to get their hands on making a map in an instant. What you’re suggesting would totally be a step backwards in forge.

Also I dont think you understand what glitches a since they cant add them in and the halo 3 glitch wasnt removed because the realised how much creativity it allowed, hence it was never patched. If anything it wasnt even a glitch it was just coding that the object was still resting on something when it was placed so it wouldnt fall unless it was altered.

Good post. I was thinking the same things when I read their comments about forge.

Also once again people forget that the lack of content is caused by halo 4s graphics limiting the amount of content they could at in campaign, multiplayer maps, , forge, easter eggs, weapns, vechiles etc. So this could of caused the dream of halo 4 to be cut short thus lowering the quality. So the hardware limits on the XB1 will allow them to have immense possiblities.

I don’t know how to make my point any clearer. I repeated it several times to clearly get my message across but still did not work. I only said the next halo needs to be FUN and COMPETITIVE like the previous halos. I only cited previous halo games to use them as examples for what is fun and competitive. Halo 4 is a counter-example of competitiveness and joy, so if returning halo to Halo 3 like qualities then so be it. Halo 4 is not fun and certainly not competitive seeing how there is no competitive events for it. What you are suggesting would be more change to the franchise. When Halo reach tried this approach they took a step in the wrong direction and Halo 4 also took this approach sending the halo franchise to the graveyard. COD has put out the same content and is now more competitive and more fun then halo. Halo does not need change and it does not need to be like any other game. IT NEEDS TO BE LIKE HALO. The game has changed too much already and needs to return to what it originally was. I promise you if 343 tries to further change the game then halo will be even more dead then it is today. Not too many people will even bother to buy the game because of the failure they saw in halo 4.

Also I do not see how Halo 4 being failure is an opinion. Look at the facts. Im not even going to get in this one but simply state one fact. HALO 3 MADE IN 2007 HAS MORE VIEWERS THAN HALO 4 HAS PEOPLE PLAYING THROWDOWN! And I did not feel the need to talk about reach for the point of this thread was based on 343 and what they need to do, not bungie.

Once again, I am found frustrated with your inability to read. I never suggested anything about making the forge panel difficult to use. I only said that it needs to be FUN and COMPETITIVE. I used halo 3 as an example of being fun cause it was colorful and wacky when at the same time very hard to use compared to later games. I was stressing the importance of forge needing to be fun rather than perfect to use. The best forge is one that is both fun competitive and easy to use, but simply do not sacrifice the joy of forge simply to make it easier to use.

Also I do understand what a glitch is. When in testing they find glitches and they are patched. The same happens through updates when a glitch is found after release. I was trying to refer to this process more than the actual creating of glitches. And I was referring to other glitches that were never patched like pinball tank, and no arm glitch, and out of map glitches. I will even post a link to a youtube series that included 200+ video (I THINK) of nothing but tricks and tips (glitches) in halo 3. These glitches were fun and brought life to the game and gave youtubers plenty of content to produce.

This begs to differ. Since its in the OP. Also your complaining about insulting peoples intelligence and your responses are kind of making you seem like a hippocrite . I DID read your post hence I picked up that your suggesting that halo 3’s forge was the best due to the content it produces which isnt entirely in control of forge alone, thus I mentioned how hardware limits and the excessive graphics made it harder to produce good unique maps with less interesting objects.

The new forge has opened up to lots more fun stuff to produce with it being easier to use which I mentioned in my post which responded to the idea that you put forth about it being fun. Also once again there is still many glitches in halo 4 so this proves nothing of halo 3’s ‘superiority’. The forge material allowed for even more videos to be created in the place of the easter eggs that halo 4 had a lack of due to. Good guess the hardware limits.

At best your create a map to simply have people play it, where as in halo 3 when you got bored and were just tired of matchmaking you could go into forge and mess around with your friends. Same as in Reach. Reach’s forge was fun to use and easy. Reach’s forge was the best of all, allowing ease of use and fun with your friends. I understood what you said. But you’re asking for a removal of most elements in halo 4 and wanting to bring back elements from halo 3. One could easily have drawn the conclusion that you want a similar game to halo 3.

In my opinion i found reach and halo 4 to be fun and competitive. Too you it was not. If you are refering to competitive as in MLG tourney’s and such halo 4 could have easily been in MLG’s roster. But 343 signed with -Yoink!- gaming which is why MLG is not in halo 4.

Call of duty has not put the same content out. How many cod’s have you played and how many years in each? COD is popular because it’s easy. That’s all there is to it. Halo has also made major changes with each instalation you’d have to be blind to not see that. “IT NEEDS TO BE HALO.” Is a very subjective line. Halo 4 is halo to me.

It’s again not a fact. If you look at it from a sales perspective halo 4 did well. If you look at it as it not being like 1-3 it can be seen as a failure. I could go on for an hour on what different things impacted halo 4’s population. Not denying some don’t like the changes but it’s certainly not the only reason and can’t be proven to be the biggest one.

Well that explains why so many more people are play halo 3 right now compared to halo 4. More people like halo 3 than they did halo 4.

Thats multiplayer in general, not forge. Population proves nothing and most people agree that it is better is because it is, its all the old forge features improved so it is better.

Everyone I played with said they were bored of halo. Simple as that. People would play the game if it were not boring so YES IT IS THE BIGGEST IMPACT ON HALO’S POPULATION. Why would anyone play a game that is boring.

Its better, but not funner to play. I can guarantee if it was funner to play more people would play compared to halo 3.

I only said the next halo needs to be FUN and COMPETITIVE like the previous halos. I only cited previous halo games to use them as examples for what is fun and competitive. Halo 4 is a counter-example of competitiveness and joy, so if returning halo to Halo 3 like qualities then so be it. Halo 4 is not fun and certainly not competitive seeing how there is no competitive events for it. What you are suggesting would be more change to the franchise. When Halo reach tried this approach they took a step in the wrong direction and Halo 4 also took this approach sending the halo franchise to the graveyard. COD has put out the same content and is now more competitive and more fun then halo. Halo does not need change and it does not need to be like any other game. IT NEEDS TO BE LIKE HALO. The game has changed too much already and needs to return to what it originally was. I promise you if 343 tries to further change the game then halo will be even more dead then it is today. Not too many people will even bother to buy the game because of the failure they saw in halo 4.

Your friend group isnt the entire population, if anything many found it enjoyable just that it doesnt last.

Its no different fun wise in forge, once again its the game in general not just forge which determines the population which makes population mean nothing in this instance.

I’ll agree with that. But still Halo 3 forge was much funner to mess around on than any other forge. Reach’s forge and halo 4’s forge were better for creating maps but were not as fun to mess around on. All i’m trying to say with this post is focus on making the game fun and enjoyable, because granted I liked making maps in Halo 4 I got bored with them and gave up on them half way through, same with many other people. There was really no aspect of forge i was ever targeting to make it better, but only to make it fun.
