Hey guys, so im super amped for the Halo 4 Battle Rifle because it seems like it’s going to be a consistent, skillful weapon to use.
How do I draw this conclusion? Well…
- No bloom <3 (confirmed in bulletin 3/15)
- No spread <3 (sort of confirmed on twitter by David Ellis, MP designer)
- Minor, upwards, suppressible recoil(confirmed bulletin 3/15)(skilled players will handle recoil better :D)
- 3-Round Burst as always (confirmed everywhere)
- Hitscan <3 (bulletin 3/15)
- 2x scope like H2/H3 (harder to crossmap than in Reach) (confirmed bulletin 3/15)
From this alone Halo 4 will be better out of the box than Reach for competitive play, in my own opinion.
Tell me no more. We have a classic gametype confirmed. I’m ready.
If there is recoil doesn’t it mean that there is spread? IDK. Someone explain to me please.
> If there is recoil doesn’t it mean that there is spread? IDK. Someone explain to me please.
Recoil is your crosshair moving upward. Aiming your stick slightly downward will negate it. Spread is where your shots can go randomly inside the reticule.
> If there is recoil doesn’t it mean that there is spread? IDK. Someone explain to me please.
What I’m thinking is that the spread will affect your reticle, but when you initially shoot, the 3 shot burst will all hit in the same spot.
Better explanation:
I shoot, my shots all hit where I aim, my reticule is affected for my next shot, but all the BULLETS hit where my new reticule position is, it essentially doesn’t act like a burst at all =p. So a skilled player would in fact be able to offset the joystick if this recoil is consistent (and BS angel said it’s an upwards recoil, not horizontal like CoD’s can be) and it would be like recoil almost doesnt exist because after the skilled player adapts, muscle memory takes over.
Sitri, you and I are extremely like-minded
Wait? Isn’t recoil like bloom then? >_<
For the BR to be usable aim acceleration settings will need to be adjusted so it doesn’t slow down all the time whenever you switch directions.
> Wait? Isn’t recoil like bloom then? >_<
Sort of, but with bloom, you can’t control the variable of bloom when shooting as fast as you can.
With recoil, you can offset it by knowing how it works. And it’s apparently very minor, in the gif’s so far, it almost looks non-existent. So we’ll just have to see!
> Wait? Isn’t recoil like bloom then? >_<
No. Recoil is more controllable. Bloom would shoot at random spots.
There is actually one thing that would make me disappointed. Another useless Plasma Rifle. At least something that functions like the old CE PR. And is it too much to ask for a red one?
> No spread <3333
Is it okay to say our Haloz may be competitive once again?!!?!

Yup.
Can’t wait to play h4.
Going to run teams of 4 all the time, seeing everyone will be coming back.
Well, it sure confirms that 343i, unlike bungie (lately), at least knows how to make a good Matchmaking experience, weapon wise. The new BR wounds even better then the old one, if I might say so
Lets just hope the rest of the game is as good and well balanced.
