What was your worst armor lock experience?

Come on, you know you’ve had one. Armor lock, since the beginning of Reach’s multiplayer life, has always had a bad rep and has angered players since its release.

Mine was probably when the WHOLE OTHER TEAM used it. I would get a kid one shot, then he would armor lock, then his friend would come over, i would get him one shot, then he would armor lock, and then a third teammate would come over and finish me off.

Its pretty sad and pathetic to see two kids armor locking together, and then tea-bagging you thinking they’re amazing when in reality they resorted to the cheapest way to get a kill.

Now please, share your wonderful stories.

My first bad experiance was when I watched the inside Reach ViDoc on B.net, and it was showing us all the new guns and AA’s. We were there all hyped, then somebody said ‘I’m really excited about this one. Armor Lock is an anti-vehicle, anti-ordnance utility that gives the player seven seconds of invulnerability to escape from massive damage.’

Out of the five of us, two bought Reach after that.

My Worst (Offensively) - Almost any time I activate it when an explosion happens, I die while I’m sort of starting it. Everyone else magically lives.

My Worst (Defensively) - Those jackholes that somehow manage to “Punch” you with AL. I’ve accidentally done it once. Buddy of mine is like a pro at it.

My Best (Offensively) - Chance happening of someone coming up the Shotgun lift on Countdown while me and a buddy were farting around with AL at the vent. Mine EMP’d the upcoming dude and I randomly stuck him and reactivated it for an EMP Sticky Kill.

My Best (Defensively) - Activated it and caused an oncoming 'Hog to spiral off the map for a triple kill and (thankfully) just before i turned it off, a Revnant slammed into me for a Killtacular. Sadly, happened before my massive theater-addiction.

My favorite - Jinx’n’Jax

Thats craaaaazy.

When I clicked that AL was stopping me from improving my game.

All of them. And it’s introduction into a Halo game.

I had an overkill, and had a headshot lined up for the killtac. The a-hole popped into Armor Lock as soon as I fired.

this

The only time I ever tried it. I don’t get how to use the armor lock properly even though I do see others using it quite effectively at times. Well enough to make me think I need to try it again.

I’ve had a lot of them. But my biggest one was when I was cruising around in my Warthog in Highlands, mowing down the enemy team LIKE A BOSS, until there’s this one guy in the middle of the road. He activates Armor Lock, and I go flying over him, over the side of Red Base and off the cliff.

And as if things couldn’t get any worse, I got booted for ‘betraying’ the guy on my turret when we both fell to our deaths.

I literally laughed for about 5 mins. Hahaha

Lol thats why it was made though. To prevent sticks and what not.

it’s meant to punish me for using a feature?

thats stupid …

LOL I love how he says it’s a “punishment”. No, it’s a counter.

It’s literally described as an anti-vehicle and anti-ordinance feature. That stands for anything that goes Boom.

Oh no. You missed with your grenade. Do what everyone else does - Try again later.

Had his argument actually pertained to this happening ALL the time and/or the ability being UNLIMITED, I would agree but it’s not and not everyone uses it.

The complaints are like most things over-exaggerated. If 343 agreed, they would’ve scrapped it. Be happy they did anything at all with attempting to fix it.

While it was horrifying from my Enemies point of view, Locked in his ghost, I found it hilarious. We were on Spire in invasion Slayer, some guy came charging our way in a ghost. Both me and my friend armor locked at that crucial moment. Now, instead of this ghost just exploding, He bounced off my friend and then got launched further by my emp. Got to love the way vehicles respond to Armor Lock on occasion.

I usually haven’t had too much of a problem with Armor Lock. I spent alot of time in BTB in a warthog, so if someone armor locked; i found some other poor sap to practice my defacing treatment on.

Armor Lock in BTB = Ok, not too frustrating, decent idea
Armor Lock in 4v4 = WTF was bungie thinking.

I agree with its purpose, but how it was implemented is horrible. It lasts too long, shouldnt be invincible, and is just unfair. When your shields are blinking red you shouldnt have ability to pull five seconds of invincibility out of your -Yoink-. Thats stupid, unfair, and slows down gameplay.

Its to prevent random splatters and grenade sticks, an apparent “unfair” aspect of the game before its creation.

blocking is fine but why should i be punnished for using a feature?

fires rockets suicide/betrayal
sticks person suicid/betrayal
tries to splatter killed by so and so

not exactly fare, rockets and the like should explode on impact, a splattering vehicle shouldn’t be destroyed unless it is moving to fast, instead AL should stun it without effecting the driver, instead of shooting grenades back just drop them to the floor.

still blocks just doesn’t punnish the person for using features …

My worst moments in Reach are ones of players using Armor Lock. Always when they get outplayed too, usually in a DMR duel. It’s even worse when the entire team uses it.

Of course, they get cleansed just like the rest of the bad kids that rely on crutches.
