What was your first Halo game? (Poll)

Just to get a vibe on the community, has 343 succeeded gathering a larger audience or is this community early adopters? I think this could help 343 understand their success or failure for a broader audience and esports focus. I’d like to see the real numbers from the community not from the company.

  • Halo Infinite is my first Halo game.
  • Halo 5 Guardians
  • Halo 4
  • Halo Reach
  • Halo 3 and/or ODST
  • Halo 2
  • Halo Combat Evolved

Halo for the XBox, which is what got me to purchase one for myself.

Hell, I remember when this famous video was posted:

I voted for CE because it was the one I literally played 1st, but Reach was the MP I played first and generally the one I have the most experience with.

I was hooked on the lore just reading instruction manual backstory. I think Staten wrote it.

I remembered playing it with my brother in a computer store for like an hour straight just screwing around lol.

Played CE at a friend’s bday party in May 2004.
Didn’t really properly get into Halo and start owning the games and doing full playthroughs until 2 came out later that year though

While I didn’t play Halo CE at it’s launch or even near it, it was still my first true Halo experience.

My brothers both had a 360 and they were always playing Halo 3 but because I didn’t have as much money I spent what little cash I had on a used OG Xbox and HaloCE and 2 and I played the sh*t out of both of those games.

I’d like to say Infinite feels better than XB-Connect, but I actually don’t think I can say that’s consistently true .

If you know, you know :man_shrugging:

The main reason I posted this poll is I’m the Last Man Standing out of my group of friends that used to play of 8 to 10 regulars back in the LAN party CE days. Most of them have quit gaming and have focused on work and family a few still game but have moved onto other games like Destiny and COD. I have worked with tons of gamers in the last 20 years and have failed to recruit a new player or to bring back an old player for more than a play session/game night. Maybe my word of mouth just isn’t as good as 343’s multi-million dollar marketing. Mainly curious how well the recruiting new players is doing on 343’s end. I’ve had zero luck besides making my kids play with me as one of their chores.

you forgot Halo Custom Edition

I played the first three games with a friend on his console as they came out. Years later when I got my 360 it came with a copy of Reach. I wasn’t expecting much because the same friend (who managed an EB at the time) always hated ODST and I thought how good could it be.

It’s what really got me into the lore. The way you could unlock armour through achievements and waypoint, and the terminals in CEA giving you codes for credits in Reach - that’s what reallt got me hooked.

Halo CE on original Xbox.

We used to set up LAN parties at work after hours. There were three TV’s at work - and I’d lug my (two person lift) 68cm CRT TV from home.

Fun times.

68 cm?

I still vividly remember the first time we ran cables through my buddies house to play Halo on different floors.

Just under 30".

I couldn’t justify the cost of an 80cm one.

Halo CE thankfully. I cannot imagine people starting Halo with any of the 343 made games. The magic from the Bungie era is unrivaled.

I’ve just never seen TVs measured in centimeters and we use the metric system where I live.

I was also imagining that being much smaller for some reason but I’ve always been terrible at spacial estimates.

One inch is about 2.5cm.

That thing must of weighed close to 50kg.

1kg = 2.2 pounds?

My first experience with Xbox was going to a friend’s house where they had an Xbox and Halo Combat Evolved with my first ever memory coming from the level The Maw where I was crawling through the maintenance tunnels and a Sentinel popped out of the opening on the bottom where I then unloaded on it with my Assault Rifle.

Soon after, I got my own Xbox and Halo.

Played a lot of co-op with my brother.

I was six years old when I was first introduced to the beauty of the black-&-green box.

My mother started dating an Air Force Technical Sergeant. And he introduced me to the beatiful worlds contained within the game box.

Morrowind
Crimson Skies
But most importantly

HALO COMBAT EVOLVED
