What was up with that jump?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=WiJCsQf5beI#t=2m12s

Look as he jump over the platform, it is too high to walk over and the spartan clearly jumps but only gets enough height to clear it…

That wasn’t a… Press A to hurdle jump was it…? I literally have no other explanation for that little baby hop

EDIT: It may also be a result of sprinting into a “suitable” and it may perform a small jump instead of having to jump very high over a foot obstacle

I don’t know what to think. If it is, this is so unlike Halo but it does make things much smoother.

In no way shape or form do I think that would make it smoother :’(

just a quick question but how is it not like halo?

I don’t know, I much rather have that then having to space jump over it. I hope this does not apply to chest high walls though.

Wow, that would just…wow, please don’t put this in 343, we can jump of our own accord.

This has never been done in Halo before and has become associated with ‘modern day shooters’ -for example ‘press A to jump’ symbols.

true, i see where your coming from. Me on the other hand i guess i wouldnt really care if they did that, it would get annoying though at times i think so i guess i care a little ha

Seems like a decent idea. Better than jumping 7+ feet to clear a 2 foot ledge.

> Seems like a decent idea. Better than jumping 7+ feet to clear a 2 foot ledge.

What if I don’t want to just clear the ledge? What if I want to jump over my opponent and slap him in the back? Yah know? Pull some ninja stuff. If I get denied this because it thinks I just want to clear a ledge because I am right next to it… It is really going to aggravate me.

At what time in the video does this jump happen?

It’s about 2 seconds after where the link takes you, 2 minutes 12 seconds

Why are you guys so afraid of change? Seriously, there is nothing wrong with this. Why do people have to complain at every single little thing instead of just looking at it with an open mind?

its just how people are, people want the game to be great, and i can honestly see the problem with this in ways i mean yes its a cool new feature (if it even is one) but it could have some downsides in certain situations.

me on this subject im indifferent honestly.

Look i’m not afraid of change, I want change please I don’t want to play H3 again! But I mean come on. There is a limit to how much you should change certain aspects when there is nothing wrong with them!

I don’t think I have ever heard a complaint about the halo hop and how you jump to high all the time. Actually that is quite an iconic staple of how halo FEELS to move around.

I personally don’t need literally every modern aspect of the boring “stock fps” thrown into halo when it just isn’t necessary

actually i dont like how you have to jump high to clear a small ledge as it takes a while to land again, which slows me down alot, and even prevents me from getting some kill (e.g if im chasing someone around a corner and i slow down due to a jump)

For christ sakes people…Has anyone heard of context-sensitive control-mapping? If you tap the A button, you’ll barely hop. If you hold in the A button, you’ll jump to maximum height. Nothing wrong in this being in the game, if anything it helps improve gameplay mechanics and control.

The guy you were chasing had to do the jump too

Is it me or is everything you post a complaint of some sort?
