I can see how that would be disappointing. I didn’t play other halo MPs before though so kill effects are new for me overall. However I will say I really enjoy the yoroi flower petal kill effect. Like. Someone ganks me and I explode into petals? I can’t even be mad, bro just threw me a mini funeral XD

I think they should be affected by one of the settings in audio because I’ve managed to quiet them a bit, but I don’t recall which one does it. Perhaps environmental effects?

Something else to sell

It’s clearly part of the broad monetization/customization push. It’s really appealing for some players to see an effect of their choosing when they get kills-and for some players, it’s similarly satisfying to know that the player you killed is “dunked on” by your kill effect.

I’m okay with the more outlandish effects being part of the customization- those have been around literally since H3 in some fashion. I’ve never personally appreciated them as I feel they undermine the cool lore behind canonical customization, but I’ve always been happy they’re in the game for the folks who enjoy them.

I do think it’s a bridge too far when the game is forcing the effects onto other players, though. I don’t want my Spartan to have any glowy nonsense going on- I go for a very lore-grounded look. It annoys me a lot when I have to deal with kill effects from other players affecting me just because someone kills me in MP. Good for them if they enjoy the effect- I do not, and I don’t understand why I should have to see/hear it.

This is one case where a toggle would be downright awesome. It’d only spoil it for those players who specifically want to humiliate others with their kill effects.

Honestly I just want a toggle for all VFX. Both death VFX and armour ones. I don’t want to see them at all.

They didnt do that in MCC, they locked legacy cosmetics alongside fracture cosmetics for reach, and in 3 its all cosmetics disabled outside of the legacy ones or none.
