ODST style FF by a country MILE!! The best FF by far!! Just replace the ODSTs with Spartans. That’s what we need. Big levels, shared lives, bonus rounds, etc. Man I miss ODST style firefight.
Fans have been asking for this since ODST. It’s time to bring it back.
If you recall Halo 4 also released with mostly negative response. A lot of people hated the new art style, the armours were terrible, the AI was worse in that the “Covenant” didn’t behave differently based on who was on the field, only the first 2 chapters of Spartan Ops were even available at first and really they were just sections of campaign maps maybe in reverse, the voice acting was god awful, when they did add new armours they were not compatible with Spartan Ops, to this day Spartan Ops encounters visual bugs where vehicles and barricades will appear green. I would probably have said at the time that Halo 4 was the worst Halo ever released.
What in particular about Infinite makes it the worst? I am just curious. So far the only big complaint I have seen is that people want more content.
That’s irrelevant to what I’m actually saying. The fact that the game was a complete game made a world of difference, and there wasn’t a shop dictating the entire game as the shop/BP literally is with infinite.
The only thing Infinite has going for it is that 343 riding off the gameplay the original Bungie created, nothing else. As far as infinite goes 343 destroyed the concept of Halo, and for what, the sake of a buck?
They even went to the extent of basing the open would off of Zelda, and actually said that’s what their intentions were. This is supposed to be Halo, a game that is original, that separates it’s self from the rest…
I wouldn’t say they specifically destroyed Halo, more like they destroyed everything that made gamers enjoy gaming.
Halo Infinite can be used as an important case study on how Corporate Greed can ruin games, and Infinite has done it in such a spectacular and impressive way that it deserves to be studied.
I would love to see something like a Classic Firefight (ODST/Reach style mode with tons of customs options) come back, but I’m afraid the “Live Service” nature of the game will discourage 343i from prioritizing something like this above the return of a more massive and monetizable option like Warzone Firefight from H5.
Weapon Tuning in June had to be done to fix the weapons balance because someone thought that players should have access to a pocket shotgun in loadouts (Boltshot)
Ranked wasn’t available for a solid SIX months (April 8th, 2013) and was only available to be seen on the Halo Waypoint Xbox 360 App.
Forge was considered to be a hard downgrade until Forge Island was released as a free DLC so we had an ACTUAL map to build on that wasn’t full of unnecessary geometry and tight skybox space.
Spartan-Ops, as daft as it is, was using recycled content for 90% of its locales for the first half of the season.
Lighting was never truly fixed and they decided to call it a “feature”, and inspired them to break playermodel lighting again in Halo 5 Guardians; which is funny because in the Halo 5 Beta the lighting on models was PERFECT so they downgraded it in the final release.
Armor sets were incomplete and planned to be fixed in later updates, but they dropped all development of these fixes. So in order to get certain armor pieces, you either have to use dev tools to mod it in place or play Halo 5 where the unused armor pieces were finally implemented in some armor sets.
Halo 4 was not a complete game. AND ON TOP OF THIS the game had cut 2/3 of its DLC out and Seasons 2 & 3 of Spartan-Ops were scrapped.
All because despite selling ~8.6 Million copies world-wide, the player population never reached past 410,000 players in a single day.
Bear in mind that the playercount never got any higher after day two and only entered in a steady decline, only having somewhat of a rise during Holiday of 2012 but that was due to gift shopping done by parents who know their kid loves Halo but doesn’t know that they wasted $60 that could’ve been better spent on a better gift !
And if you want those player count statistics, here you go.
Day 1 to Day 365 of Halo 4’s player population -
Nothing personal, but your list is weak at best. You only used issues as if any game ever released issue free. Hell, even H5 can be considered more of a complete game vs infinite.
That is due to a few factors that Halo 4 didn’t have in its favor.
Developed over three years rather than two.
ONE campaign instead of trying to stuff Master Chief’s Campaign and Spartan-Ops into the same game.
They continued using the art style and assets of Halo 4, instead of having to waste time redesigning everything from the ground up like they did with Halo 4’s unnecessary art style change. A waste of resources and time considering they already had the art style and just needed to do a graphical quality upgrade.
Halo 5 required less overall effort than what was put into Halo 4, so as a result they were able to focus on stability more than reinventing the wheel.
Personally, I think things are far worse off with infinite. Using existing data does help a lot, but when you look at things like co-op that should have been in the game when it launched I don’t understand not using the same formula if you were to say as the previous titles.
343 has a bad habit of changing things, that I believe they are majorly struggling to find a way to add co-op, and it’s why it’s was delayed again. IMO that is the actual problem with infinite. They changed way too much that it’s delaying a lot of the content, or removed things and gave some BS story like the assassinations, or how they “needed” this new model to pay for the servers.
Literally anything. I miss PvE. People at 343 at just want “Spartan-centric” multiplayer and Campaign. They don’t care about the other species all that much, which is sad.
Firefight and/or Spartan Ops, although the latter would probably suck up a lot of dev resources. I would prefer the prior based on the relative simplicity behind “going into [x or y map] and fighting hordes of [x or y enemy].”
I would love to see something almost battlefield style, particularly something that includes both humans and covenant, and has people playing Spartans and Elites or Brutes while AI controlled marines and grunts etc.
Mostly I want to see more campaign content, they marketed the campaign as “live service” so I want to see major improvements to the generic aspects of the open world… sadly I think I’ll be lucky to just get another equally generic area tacked on in December.
All of the above! I don’t have experience with Warzone, being a PC player, but sure why not. Firefight is a great time and I’d love to see Infinite’s updated AI in that mode - the AI upgrade is definitely an improvement in Infinite that I was glad to see.
As for Spartan Ops, the concept was always very sound - it’s just H4’s execution wasn’t great, IMO mainly on the mission design. It was like a weird unbalanced horde mode with infinite lives and copy/paste locales and objectives. I think if the idea of Spartan Ops - a serial, narrative PvE mode with minimal mocap/voice acting (i.e. lower cinematic quality than a main campaign) - taking place within the Infinite overworld has a ton of potential. Missions across the ring, even if just the existing open world, could be a hoot if they’re not too much copy/paste.
Overall, I think the PvE gameplay and systems in Infinite have a ton of potential for a coop PvE mode separate from campaign.
Well the co-op is being delayed because they are having issues with implementing it into the open world. I for one would rather wait for something that works than get a broken mess now because I’m impatient.
What consistency did you want them to carry on?
Keep in mind that Halo 5 was largely hated. If you are referencing things like changing the art style or stepping away from a Promethean themed game that is responding to feedback. If hypothetically 80-90% of the player base hates Prometheans they could be consistent and use them anyways but then everyone would be mad they don’t listen to fans.
I could write an essay hete about pve but its pointless.
343 could care less what we or i want. Theyll make what they want.
That said, i beg, beg, its nothing like halo 4s spartan ops.
I think Spartan Ops was a good concept but executed poorly due to boring AI that just tended to rush, locales were generally too small, and for me the voice acting dragged the whole experience down (especially when you try and play solo). Spartan Miller almost singlehandedly ruined Spartan Ops for me. Why a Spartan super soldier is behind a desk instead of being a soldier couldn’t tell you. “Hey Crimson you’ve got a couple Hunters inbound” like he’s reading my grocery list, I’m like “bro I’m down to 1 rocket and a pistol. I am NOT the Master Chief. I’m about to get clapped”. Not that it mattered with unlimited lives
I gave feedback before halo 5 for pve.
Lots
Req system out of nowhere.
Despite all its shortcomings, we still managed to make warzone fun.
I dread how 343 is going to monetize pve for infinite, if we even get pve in the next couple years.
You could see bungie was taking baby steps in reach by letting users make their own firefight gametypes.
For infinite, im not wasting my time getting my hopes up, and wont give feedback, i give up.
