What happened to the days where skill was shown by aiming, body movement, and reflex. It seems like halo is turning into some space game where the body movement is slower each game. This is what made skilled halo players known and famous. Controlling a slow guy in super tough armor is not fun. By the time i turn around im dead. What happened to the days where i can jump, turn around whip out my battle rifle and kill 2 kids shooting me???
I’m sorry, the days of you getting extremely lucky via being attacked by two apparently terribly-aimed morons is over.
Play rumble pit if you want to get better chances for that kind of game play, or try multi-team.
i agree. the skill has been all but sucked out of halo. halo 3 and halo reach have had the smallest skill gaps of any halo games made to date. its sad, but… teamwork is more important than individual skill, like ten fold. what good is ‘shooting skill’ when DMR battles with 85% or 100% bloom are won in a virtual coin flip (at close range spamming is optimal, the victor of these spam battles is completely and totally random regardless of aiming skill). then, movement and jump settings make you feel even more gimped. case in point, MLG is using 120% movementspeed so the movement is actually responsive and strafing is viable. TWENTY PERCENT MORE than default reach. heck, even a 10% bump in movementspeed would be a global improvement.

Or CE.
Halo 4 will change this; it will actrually take skill and have ranked playlists.

I hope you are right.

Or Goldeneye
ZING!
Honestly though, Halo’s been getting slower with each release. While Halo 3 was doable because it had incentive and it wasn’t dreadfully slow, Reach on it’s default feels like you have cinder blocks weighing you down and then some.

Exactly why i made this thread. And i COMPLETELY agree. Each halo is getting slower and slower. It basically ruins the game and what the player is actually capable of. And reach took the slowness to a NEW level.

It doesn’t really help with boring grey forge maps. I know many of them have good layouts but are just not pleasing to the eye. It’s yawn inducing but not because the layout of the maps. Which is why i don’t want see a huge Forge World for future titles. Rather have appealing Forge palettes and decent size mini Forge Worlds rather then a OMG BIGGEST MAP EVAH! with boring grey ;/
When an additional new game mechanics (AA in this case) affect the core gameplay (slower movement speeds, less jump height etc) in such negative way to compensate for them, i just shake my head.
Faster movement speeds render Sprint and Evade useless as they gives you a illusion of speed. You move slower as result and only gain that slight advantage of speed as long as you have energy in the meter. Once you run out then what? Slooooowness.
That’s just one example, i don’t want to make a broken wall of text
Halo 3’s mechanics were bearable, but Reach was way too slow. Even the iconic jumps were removed. It’s one of the most vital parts that they need to bring back in Halo 4, for sure in order to make it feel like Halo again.
Just to touch what the poster above me said, the Sanctuary remake and even the Pit remake were completely butchered by forge’s “greyness”. Bring back forge maps like Foundry and I’ll be satisfied.
