WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU ARE IN A SLUMP

Here are some things that have really worked for me lately.

-Go back to the basics. For me it is sprint. Certain abilities can make you focus on the wrong things. Also, jet packing, for me is the worst thing I could do if I’m not playing well. Too much to think of at one time, plus accuracy is much more difficult.

-Take a break for a little while and come back with a fresh mind.

-Remember one of your best matches when you were in a zone and try to imitate what you were playing like: weapons, speed, technique. It might come back to you.

-Increase your look sensitivity for a bit. It can make you more aware and give you that in the zone feeling. Accuracy can be thrown off, so when you start getting that feeling back, switch the sensitivity back to your comfort level.

-Finally, don’t get discouraged. It’s just a game. Be patient and try not to get angry. That will only make you play worse. It is said, that in anything, when you’re in a slump you are learning without even realizing it. So when you come out of the slump, you’ll be better than you were before you entered it. I have found that to be very true, not just in halo.

P.s. Results may very and are not guaranteed. In that case, you are beyond help.

When I get frustrated after a certain amount of games, I usually don’t do these things particularly well! You seem to have a better character about this subject than me, and I want to try what you are doing. Thanks and take care!

I just learn not to rage. Kind of play more cautiously.

Me personally?
I finish the game and kick some -Yoink- in campaign or firefight on easy.
A few minutes of slaughtering helpess enemies usually helps me.

Off topic, but does this ever happen to you?
Whenever i have an exceptionally good game, (E.G. 1st perfection, unfrigginbelievable, high level sprees, etc), the game after i play terribly. I could go 59-16 (invasion and yes i do get objective time. usually 10-15 seconds), but the game after, i’d go 10-20.

I play MW3 for 1-2 weeks, then Reach for 1-2weeks.

Works well for me.

In response to Scipio.

Yes, happens all the time. I’ve been back into team slayer lately though, so statistically not to that degree. Like today I had a +29 kd with 33 kills, but I will say the other players seemed a lot less experienced. Anyway, right after that I stopped playing for a bit because I knew I wasn’t gonna beat that anytime soon.

I think that’s what happens. In the back of your mind you’re saying," Well that’s gonna be hard to beat, now watch I’m gonna screw up all over the place." So, you end up becoming less confident for your next match. It’s all in the mind.

In addition to the suggestions of FF or Campaign, I would also say move to a simpler game - maybe Grifball or SWAT. No armor abilities, no vehicles, no power weapons, no ammo limits, just you and the cross-hair. Go a couple of games to get your flow back.
