Though this is a feature that’s in a lot of games, I think it would be interesting to see Halo 5 incorporate this not for the sake of copying another franchise (nudge nudge) but for the sake of immersion.
Simply put, without the health bar in Halo, it’s tough to tell when you’re really close to dying, and if you guys have played, say Crysis or Battlefield, it really adds to the feeling of urgency when your character’s blood splashes up on his visor when he’s moments away from death (keep in mind that this only would happen when your shields are dropped).
Just a simple feature to add, what do you guys think?
The beeping of the shields is enough. Besides, it’s armor. It is technically not supposed to leak blood, and even if it did?
Oh look, blood from being shot in my middle is leaking out of my helmet.

Oh look, I got shot in my foot, it caused severe abdominal hemorrhaging. Game’s aren’t about realism; if Halo were about realism then it certainly wouldn’t require a single shot to the single strongest piece of armor on a Spartan (i.e. the helmet) to kill him.
On a side note, behold! The anti-progressive squad arrives in full force!

More like ahem

There are flares on the visor indicating hits. Now, they seem a little disorderly(can’t tell how many you can take before dying) but having our visor splattered with blood is by no means an alternative.
Why? Because A: We have suits designed to negate injuries like that.(Canon)
B: If blood were to splattered into someones eyes, they would be blind, running around screaming like a half dead duck, they would be a prime target for everyone.(Non-canon)
And lastly, what sort of purpose would more blood in this game accomplish?
What I WOULD like to see, is blood from other Spartans, the Covenant, or the Flood (you know they’re coming back) splash on the visor, then have it wiped off by some sort of futuristic means ala Republic Commando. That I would like to see.
It works in some games, but I feel it would just be annoying for Halo. Especially because a lot of encounters you’ll end up near death, your shield recharging afterwords.
Having blood start filling the screen and maybe blurriness would make those engagements extremely hard for both sides. Where, again, luck may end up winning.
Besides the problems of blood appearing inside your visor from being shot in the foot, the armor itself possesses several things to help stop bleeding like that. Biofoam, pressure, and other regulators would make it unlikely for blood to splatter your visor.

I agree with this. It doesn’t fit into the canon (biofoam injectors and whatnot), nor does it aid gameplay (simply interferes with combat, due to the relatively slow kill-times).

Agreed.
If they made another ODST game. Then this feature would work well. But not for Spartans.
I can’t imagine Halo working well with it. Besides, when you get shot in Halo 4 the screen turns red to indicate where you’re being hit from. That seems like a good 50/50 level to me.
