One thing I noticed with the Req system for weapons is that unless you have a mystic, the other weapons do not do anything that different, (Now I may be remembering this wrong as I have not played Halo 5 in months, but here me out)
Now for a while, I have been thinking that 343 should have done what Team Fortress 2 does, make side grades, not upgrades.
For an example let us take the Fuel Rod Cannon. For a Rare and/or Ultra Rare card, the weapon will do %20 more damage to vehicles and enemies and a %30 faster projectile, but it will also have a %25 reduced blast radius, so you have to be more precise with it.
Or for the Shotgun, it has a much higher number of pellets per shot, so you can hit enemies from longer away and do more damage to a enemy that is running from you, the downside is that it has a smaller clip, so you will have to reload more frequently.
Now I know that many of you think that this is a bad idea since it will lose the Halo feel, but if they are going to have a Reqw system, at least do something interesting.
So many things…
…but not worth it…
Most second-tier weapons do have increased capabilities. The Lawgiver Shotgun has extended range, the Typhon Hydra has quicker reload, rate of fire and can lock on to three targets, the Scourge of Fire Plasma Caster fires two grenades at a time instead of one, the Song of Peace Suppressor has an increased rate of fire, and so on. Each variant plays differently from the base weapon, it just isn’t as noticeable with the second-tier sometimes, so I see no reason to add these “side-grades”.
What I would have done is after you unlock a weapon you would have to get a certain number of kills with it to unlock the next level. This way there would have been some “earning” in H5 and give more incentive to complete commendations.

That actually sounds good, but I am sure 343 would never do it.

Well its way to late now
