What the **** is this matchmaking?

What the actual **** is wrong with the matchmaking? I can’t tell if there’s sbmm or not. Everyone claims there is. I’m literally going against onyx players consistently while my teammates are bronze?! Where is the logic in that? I played ranked for one week back when the game first came out and I placed platinum So I sort of know where I stand in terms of skill. I can’t even complete any kill or score challenges because I’m getting absolutely stomped by onyx players every game. I get that if we have social matchmaking, this sort of thing is bound to happen and I’m fine with that, but it’s the fact that there’s supposed to be “sbmm” and my games are so unbalanced.

You could quit the match until you land in a game that you like. That’s what I do.

Lol im waiting for a certain someone to come post in here how everything is perfectly fine, when we all know there is serious issues with the ranking system/matchmaking. Theres atleast 1 thread a day posting this same exact thing. Its funny at this point, and even funnier reading the people who defend the matchmaking.

Can’t speak for the people you fight against, but I can speak about why you get bad teammates…

The RNG associated with allowing an AI to attempt to find teammates for you instead of picking them yourself. You never know what you’re going to get, because the AI can’t read your mind on what teammates you’d prefer.

I just go afk the instant I see the game rigging losses. Like a bad teammate with 0 zero kills and ten deaths. The game expects certain players to carry/get carried. It’s a joke. I stopped playing for like 3 weeks but came back and no changes. I’ll be done for good this time. The real Halos are on the MCC anyway.

Yes, is it terrible. I think it should be changed.

There is sbmm and thats why you get stomped. Let me explain. If you do well in one game then 343 decides to punish you for doing well so in your next game you ll be put against better players based on your previous performance. You are essentialy being punished for trying and getting better. Personally as an onyx player social is much more sweaty than ranked and its a joke at this point. There is no true SOCIAL game mode except BTB and thats the way 343 wants it. This for me is the biggest issue in the game that stops me from having fun.

It uses BTB to calculate your expected skill as well as other game modes.

You have 61 hours in BTB with a KD of 1.56- 33% of your matches have a KD way above the average.

you have 30 hours in Quick play with a kd of 1.25 - 20% of your matches.

3 hours total in ranked.

In short - the game doesn’t know how well you perform in ranked and is miscalculating based on your high number of social games in BTB. Because you are unranked also, the game is not taking your rank into account when matching you with teammates.

Complete your ten placement matches and you will be able to rank up or down from there as you sink more time into the playlist.

Yes. The system is not very good

Well 343 decided that kills per minute are important, by quitting and going afk you’re only telling the matchmaker that you shouldn’t be in that match

sounds dumb. some teams play slow and grind out results.

Oh yeah and get a nice, fat ban. Great idea!

It’s not fat. You’ll be back soon. In the meantime you can switch to another more fun videogame.

yea Moist is right with that.
Also another note, in Season 1 ranked was too easy to get higher ranked so it’s been adjusted. I’d imagine you are lower rank than where Season 1 placed you. I know I took me a lot more effort to get past my rank in Season 2.

The only thing they’ve adjusted is team CSR variation which, ironically, causes players to leave the playlist and therefore makes finding a fair match more difficult.

The quickest fix they could have is to revert immediately to the win/loss halo 5 system for rank progression.

It builds up, first ban is short, second one will be longer, third will be even longer, and eventually you’ll end up being banned for the whole day. Also, you’ll be making the game terrible for other people when you leave cuz it ends up in a 3v4.

and that is very easy to do

One day is nothing. You can play other games during that one day. 4 vs 4 is set up for occasional failure anyway. Too few players to rely on.

Its a mixture of the worst sbmm system and the most unreliable coding possible.
