Robbed figure is walking through the desert. A Futuristic suit which has energy shielding and which served most of it’s time in north africa needs a rag to protect it. (i’m pretty sure such a rag should hinder the shielding system)
Giant mecha robot thing pops out of the sand. This is dumb because a giant robot mecha with floating parts is simply not halo. (it’s not that he’s floating that’s bothersome. it’s that parts of him are floating and that doesn’t realy serve any use)
Then we’re seeing master chief under the robes. I think this is supposed to make us go "Wow! it’s master chief. This means it’s a new halo game! amazing!"Correct? Instead i thought "they still have no idea what they’re supposed to be doing
It’s such a messed up combination. Mystery wizard robes, Japanese-shounen type action badguy robots… all in a setting that’s supposed to be pretty tame for a sci-fi.
Well hes wearing the robes to mask his appearance or so Frankie says and I have to agree with you on the robot I forget what his name is rumoured to be but he does look a little to non halo for my tastes

Suspense, stopping sand getting in his broken armour and destroying internal systems</mark>

Halo teaser’s never really had anything to do with the game, Just set the mood. And the Forerunners had floating mechanical pieces before this trailer, Halo 4 even.
He is obviously damaged and missing some armor (his chest “spikes” on his back are obviously missing) along with craked visor, so flying sand can get in there and completely wreck the internals, and yes, Frankie said he was trying to disguise himself for some reason.
The robe is metaphorical to MC’s situation IMO and was mostly there to cement the surprise reveal but if we do see it in the game (and again, I doubt it) Chief’s cracked and wrecked armor could be a good explanation as to why it’s necessary. As for the robot (which is not by any means a “mecha”) is very much a part of Halo and the Forerunners as presented in Halo 4 and the Forerunner Saga and I happen to like it, as do a lot of others.

I meant to the rogue part, I should of specified I meant that

Its suspenseful. Did you know it was Halo until he took his arm out or his helmet was revealed?
The armor is obviously a bit damaged, at least the visor. And he is trying to mask his appearance. Perhaps the sand is making it so anyone looking can’t use tech well, so the rag actually helps. Or the rag is to make sure the sand doesn’t wear down his damaged shielding/armor.
So, what is Halo? A giant robot with floating parts fits perfectly with the way Forerunner tech and units have been going, the Didact’s designs perhaps. And floating stuff is certainly Forerunner.
How do you know what they’re supposed to be doing? They are the only ones that have any clue what they’re supposed to be doing, they wrote the story and Halo 4!
It wasn’t meant to be anything big, just announce that Halo is coming. Suspense leading up to Chief, and a lot of questions to be answered. Thats all it did, and all it was supposed to do.
Used to conceal what game we were seeing an advertisement for and build suspense. MAKES SENSE TO ME, considering the Halo 3 trailer did something like this, having a lot of smoke blocking your view of Master Chief.
Also, his armour is damaged, if the energy shields are down permanently because of that, and there are already cracks in his visor, the robes could be entirely necessary. Or if he wants to conceal his identity to whoever else is wherever the desert is.

Incorrect, read my sources below.

I was both surprised and not surprised because while I was watching the trailer I said to myself jokingly imagine if he pulled his hood down and it was Master Chief.</mark>

I actually I didn’t like how they did some of the designs, they seem to put of too many floating parts in every nook and cranny down to the tiniest parts. I think they over did it sometimes it made some of the designs very messy and confusing looking
