What the hell is wrong with ranked

Perhaps it is them who are scared to be beaten by a gold or platinum rank ???

In the open playlist I easily hit D6
In solo duo/controller I can’t get past D3 early D4

The ranked system needs a complete overhaul. I wanted to see if a friend of mine could duo with me, but we both use different inputs. He’s on controller, I’m on mouse and keyboard. He couldn’t use his controller (understandable) and was forced to use KBM, but that’s not where the issue is.

We faced a group of players that were at his skill level, not mine. I absolutely crushed them in a CTF match and as a result got 30% of a rank in Diamond.

How on Earth could this rank system think that me stomping a bunch of low skill players meant I should get a huge boost to my rank score?

Less players in solo so it’s harder to hit the higher end of the bell curve. More population means more people to prove your rank against, generally easier to obtain a higher rank than in one with a smaller potentially more skilled group of players at the top end.

Don’t interact with that user. I set them to Ignore because they ran into a thread and started typing troll messages about poop.

That was my point in one of the posts.
I saw people exploit this to rank up.
You got all these points because your stats went through the roof and the system rewarded you.

Another thing I personally tried was deranking on purpose to try and go back up. it’s been a pain in the a** trying to regain my previous rank. Why should that be the case?

Because the games are still balanced by team.

See I thought this was the case, but no one on the enemy team was doing even remotely well. Perhaps I was supposed to have been matched up against someone that just had a bad game, but it was a 5-0 slaughter in CTF.

It’s hard to say as we are talking an anecdotal I assume fairly small sample pool, but realistically the games would even out over time (as your rank increases) the enemy rank increases also. Because when you’re climbing the system is basically realising you are performing above your current level so it wants to get you out of that level quicker. Playing with a lower skilled friend may make the games feel easier but they should still be relatively balanced where possible.

Don’t forget this system has had multiple games and millions of player data across even more games to assess these metrics and what’s quite bizarre is the game can generally predict the better team in games. Which tells you it has to have a high degree of accuracy to be able to do such a thing. If everyone’s rank was inaccurate the games would be far less reliable (as they were with Trueskill1). The accuracy of this system is 68% compared to Trueskill1 which was 51%. So this system is clearly far better than what came before it.

Obviously some things won’t be perfect and some players may not be the rank they possibly deserve, but even then it will be very close to their true rank not leagues apart. Some players seem to think they are Onyx 2,000 material when they can’t even climb above 1550 with any sort of reliability.

Why don’t you (I mean they) offer individual ranks and clan ranks or team ranks…if I consistently have someone leave my match I can never rank up…period. If my teammates who are shooting me so that I die -1 and they get a kill +1 I can never rank up. You (I mean they) should have stats for friendly fire as well and deduct that from ā€œskillā€

MMR and CSR restriction. Get rid of performance based CSR rating. It needs to be strictly wins… adding in all this complex math and stupidity has caused what we currently have.,

What you are describing is basically the old system we had which was flawed and slow at accurately placing players.
