I don’t know what’s going on. I’ve played the game a couple of times this year and had no issues whatsoever. But since trying to play again over the weekend, some VERY annoying things have started to happen.
I can navigate the menu without issues, EXCEPT for these instance, where the music will stop playing and the game just freezes for at least 30 seconds or more, and in some instances it takes the game OVER a whole minute to recover.
- Selecting a campaign
- Continuing a previously save campaign (this takes the longest)
- Pressing the guide button for just a second and then switching back to the game
I wanted to play coop campaign, but because of these issues, we get disconnected every single time.
Once you are in the game, everything works fine. No freezing (unless pressing guide), no stutter, nothing.
Does this have to do with the currently ongoing maintenance (unlikely) or is this because of the recent system update for the Xbox?
I have tried everything in an effort to try to fix this:
- install everything (I had only the SP installed)
- deleting everything and doing a fresh install
- doing a hard reset multiple times
- delete the save game from the console
- move the game to a different HDD
I have a Xbox One X and all my other games work fine (mostly).
EDIT: Forgot to say, booting into the game takes also MUCH longer than it used to. That booting screen is there for well over a minute.
Same issue, it’s just the game. Been like this for over a month, even after the update it’s the same issue. If you search for past posts it’s been a problem since I believe April '19. It freezes for extended periods of time while navigating the menus, and it’s difficult to get into matches with this, if I do I’m about 45 seconds late to entering a game. I too have tried uninstall/reinstall, multiple hard drives, hard resets, console resets. Worse than the launch state essentially.
Okay, so after the latest update, a few things have changed. I can switch the campaign menus without the menu freezing.
But pressing the guide and returning to the game, still freezes the game for WELL OVER A MINUTE. But at least the music keeps playing, I guess that’s something.
Resuming a campaign is still the same as before though. After pressing “Resume” the game freezes again and stays frozen for well over a minute. But loading after that appears to be faster.
Anything I can do on my end to help fix this problem? Report a problem on the console? Buy a PlayStation 4?
This is making me really angry. I bought the game twice, I paid for the DLC, I pay for Xbox Live Gold for over ten years now, I bought three Xbox Ones. But then -Yoink- like this keeps on happening. How hard can it be to isolate a simple problem like this? We are on a -Yoink!- console with the same specs across all machines. I could understand this problem happening on a PC, but this is just unacceptable.

What I don’t get, it was working fine the whole year, but suddenly the game decides to NOT work properly anymore? What kind of -Yoink- is this?
Nothing changed after the latest update. It appears to be slightly worse now. How is this possible? A first party game, that freezes when you press the guide button? Consider my mind boggled.
