Ok, so I took a year off from halo in general to reset my bearings, I came back to brush up before halo four dropped and see what’s new.
And to my horror something has gone completely haywire.where did this hatred between casual players and competitive come from? I checked out for awhile and BAM it’s almost like a full scale race riot in some threads. I mean there was always an unspoken truth between the two, it was known that in matches great or small comps stomped casuals most of the time, and that was fine. But now there’s almost blatant racism between the communities, I don’t get it.
What prompted the argument of “who’s games” the halo series is?
No one owns the series, not this section of the community or that. These games were NEVER built to cater to one community or another. They were designed to appeal to a broad audience from day one back in 2001. So why is continuing in that trend so resisted all of the sudden? Maybe I’m o old to understand the squabllings of the generation behind me. That’s probably it. But if someone can explain this whole dust up in a calm objective manner it’d be much appreciated.
This isn’t troll bait or a flame thread, it’s a simply inquiry, please treat it as such. Happy hunting
No clue,I thought it was always like this.
It’s always been like this to varying degrees but right now the Halo 4 forum is really showing it
Ω
When I last checked in the silent truce was still in effect. It’s a sad state with that barrier broken…
The halo four forum is the worst I’ve ever seen it, I don’t know if those are REAL comp players or just bandwagoning tryhards, I lost my touch at telling the difference I guess
It happened with Reach. In H3 both “species” had their separate areas, but in Reach, since the 1-50 didn’t exist, the “competitive” crowd lost their “home.” So now they want to make everyone miserable until they get what they want…
That explains a lot, it’s odd, the last ime I was around the comps were the mature ones nd the casuals were the flaming children, it seems there’s been a compete role reversal for the most part

Firstly, welcome back, always good to see returning players…
As for the comp’s, the introduction of just about everything: bloom, map design, AA’s, loadouts, less movement speed, etc. and the loss of a 1-50 structure has left the primaries very upset and angry over why things suddenly changed so dramatically. Bungie has always intended well, but in the end, the one specified zone for competitive players was Arena and they still hated the notion of bloom, AA’s, and loadouts in it. Not to mention the lack of map design for their play styles…
With the casuals, their enjoying the experience as most have grown a few years since the days of Halo 3. As a result, your looking at a complete reversal like you said. Casuals are happy for the most part, and comp’s are not for the most part.
