So,
I come back from a hiatus, first few games I’m rusty (who wouldn’t be after a 3 month break though)
Jump in to doubles, consistently playing against Diamond/High Plat, theirs even a game where it tried to pair me with champs , won 7/10 games and was given gold 3.
Play FFa, won 2 games with onyx ranked players in lobby, the rest were high plat/low diamond. Got gold 3.
Play Arena, won 6/10 placements, still performed with a positive KD, either top or second on the leader board. once again, against All diamonds as well as High plat, Funnily enough i got gold 4.
Lastly, my final straw was playing slayer with a friend in the high diamonds. Won 7/10, on at least 60% of the games i out ‘fragged’ him, played against a diamond 6 (in the next game he was somehow onyx after loosing) and did twice as good.
HOW THE -Yoink- DID I MANAGE TO GET GOLD 3.
I understand its based off wins, but can someone explain wtf is going on?
**Edit was for spelling
(thanks for the feedback, it appears this ranking system isn’t that great) <3
what ranks were you expecting
I think your confusion may lie in the fact that the ranking system appears to completely reset every time the ranks go away. This is not the case. Previous ranks and arena experience do have an impact on your ranking after the placement matches, so I looked through your past ranks and see that you were ranked mid-gold to low-plat in the past.
I imagine those past ranks have affected your current rank. I hope I’ve helped clear up some of your confusion!
thanks all of you, and possible cover, but my previous ranks were plat 2
I can probably lose every game and place somewhere in diamond
> what ranks were you expecting
with a win rate like that medium plat at least
> thanks all of you, and possible cover, but my previous ranks were plat 2
You had ONE Plat 2 in FFA back in the June-July season. Depending on how you did in your placement matches and who you played against this season a Gold rank is not unheard of. All the other playlists, except for one season, you ranked Gold. So I would say the ranks you received were spot on. If you are truly a Plat player you should have no problem getting back to that rank then.
I myself prefer not to be dropped from a division. Going in alone makes it difficult enough to place in a higher rank division. I find myself not play a game type, because I have reached my goal and do not want to drop back down to a lower rank?

I get that, but i dont understand why i get placed against such higher ranks if its just going to give me gold regardless of how i do?

Didn’t you say you were playing with friends? It’s possible they may be attracting these high-ranked players.

I was but constantly did better than them, hence my confusion. but as previously stated my previous ranks have apparently ruined my chances of getting a decent rank after placement. The only issue i have with this is the massive grind of getting to a higher rank after placement

Yeah man, I get what you are saying… but your initial rank does seem to be heavily influenced by your previous ranks no matter how you do or your level of competition. For the first 6 months of this game I would peak around low platinum. Full disclosure; I am much better at the game now than back then, although now that I typed that it seems like a no brainer, but the past two seasons before winter I grinded from my initial rank of high gold to diamond 3 both seasons. Now fast forward to winter season and my initial rank was plat 1, instead of high gold which I would historically get.
Long story short I wouldn’t plan on getting an initial rank above that mid gold unless you grind your way to at least high plat for consecutive seasons.

Yeah man, my plan now is to non stop grind to high plat, maybe even D1 if i que with a 4 man. Do you know if you get more CSR for being a lower rank wining against higher ranks? or does it peak out at a certian point?
