What subtitle would you give Halo 4?

With Halo 5 having “Guardians” being added next to its name, what would you give Halo 4 if it had that same feature?

Personally, I’d go with “Halo 4: Awakening” given that the campaign was the awakening of so many things. For a hundred thousand years of slumber, the Didact has been awakened. After four years in cryo, the Master Chief has awakened. And after three games of a robotic avatar for the player to imagine themself as, John’s humanity has finally surfaced.

Halo 4: Awakening. I would have liked that better than just Halo 4.

Halo 4: Rise of the Complainers

Halo 4: the plot to squeeze more money out of this franchise.

I still love you 343I.

Halo 3 Legendary Ending… the story was going to continue.

Halo 4: Awakening sounds good.
Fits a lot of parts about it.

Because Halo 3 totally didn’t end in a complete cliffhanger or anything

I like cliffhanger endings. Besides, we knew a sequel would eventually be made.
But that’s what I call games and movies that have more sequels than words in the title. I still like H4.

… so Halo 3 was a plot to squeeze money out of the franchise?

Halo 4: Call of John Modern Forerunners

Everything is a plot to get money, some things are just better implemented than others.
I called it Halo 3: The End.

Halo 4: Requiem, since the Halo rings don’t play any role whatsoever. Yeah yeah, here we go with the “Halo title doesn’t matter”. The franchise title matters for me. That’s why it was called Halo Wars, Halo 3: ODST and Halo Reach, because the Halo rings weren’t even mentioned.

So I think Halo 4: Requiem would have been better.

There are only 7 rings.

And they will always be looming over the Halo story, the eternal guns pointed at the head of the universe, whether they’re about to activate or not.

Limiting story expansion due to the title is a sad idea. This is still the Halo Universe, wherever we are. We don’t have to be on a ring trying to make sure it doesn’t fire for the 4th time.

Call of Duty: Halo 4

halo 4: Haven

or

Halo 4: don’t make a fan a promise…if you know you can’t keep it

We don’t necessarily need to stop them from being fired. When we reached the Ivanoff station, I thought we were going into the Halo to retrieve the Composer. The ring was only subjective… but no. 343 decided to land on a new location rather than giving some service fans demanded.

Remember, it’s called Halo, not “Master Chief jumping across the entire galaxy to stop an ancient enemy nobody ever talked about”. I don’t want a Great Journey, I don’t want a H1-3 reharsh, I don’t want the Flood, hell… I don’t even want to stop the activation of a ring. I only want to step on a Halo ring once more. I don’t see how that can compromise a plot…

When you start throwing in rings just for the sake of throwing in rings, yes it compromises the plot. It keeps you from going to new places and new experiences.

Besides, at least judging from the Ark holograms, a lot of the other rings are inhospitable anyway. Endless deserts or severe volcanic action. That could be interesting, but not really able to center the plot around.

Look at where the story is going at the moment. We’re visiting Sanghelios, the Elite homeworld. It is heavily implied that we’ll be returning to the Ark, discovering its hidden secrets that were completely bypassed in Halo 3. The Chief is getting character development and pushing the story forward.
That wouldn’t happen if we were just running around on a ring again.

I will say, though, that a Spartan Ops concept could work. Infinity’s mission is to decommission the rings. Assuming it gets a break from fighting Insurrectionists and Covenant splinter factions, we could use Spartan Ops to get us on another ring without sacrificing the campaign.

I can’t top Awakening, but…

I’d like to cap Greg Bear’s nomenclature (Cryptum, Primordium, Silentium) with something else, but my Latin lacks…
