What sort of map does Halo 5 really need?

And we can say, “man, this is truly a Halo map, I can feel the Halo vibe on it” because when I think of White cell, Orion II and Pegasus II I just want to break my Halo 5. And perhaps it may be hard or impossible to see a new map, I don’t know if there’ll be new maps with the november update(if there’s one) but it would be great to see a memorable Halo 5 map.

Coliseum is my favourite map in halo 5 arena. It’s one of my favourite maps period. Warzone probably skirmish and noctus I like the best.

Both these maps maps are the ones that I will remember years down the road.

What they need are memorable btb maps.

I totally agree that they need improved BTB maps. Halo 5 seems limited in this regard. I would be down with making btb with more players and then using some of the warzone maps, just get rid of the AI.

I was about to say this, but you said it better. Halo 5’s Warzone maps would be perfect for BTB and BTB Heavies. I’m sure it would be relatively simple for 343 to add that…

And I completely disagree. Warzone and BTB are two different types of maps. They are too big with no clear Red or Blue side. It just doesn’t work.

Either way I don’t believe we are getting any new maps. So really the topic is more for what we might want to see in Halo 6 sing what we have now is all we’re gonna get. That is unless they add more Forge maps.

In terms of the OP…well after two years I think this is a non issue. I am more concerned with them fixing glitches and working to keep matchmaking consistent.

It seems to me like they’re close to the same size as Halo Reach’s BTB maps, which were some of my favorites. Maybe a little bigger, but not by much. Think back to Spire, for instance. It has kind of a main section around the spire itself but there was also that section far in the back where the Banshee spawned. And Boneyard has a similar thing going on: a big main section for the Scorpion, in addition to the bulkheads and a section in the back with that random Warthog that nobody ever used (except when it was a gauss hog on Graveyard). I’m guessing the reason you’re saying Warzone maps are too big for BTB is because they would also end up with some areas that people don’t go to very often, but I thought it was fun to have a lot of ground to explore, and with enough vehicles, it’s not hard to get around the map and find bad guys to kill anywhere you go.

Anyway, if you still think they’re too big for BTB, another solution would be to add a 12v12 version of BTB on those maps, since they were designed for 12v12 matches in the first place. I’d be happy with that. 12v12 BTB Heavies would be my Halo dream playlist! Also some Warzone maps do have a clear red and blue side, like Escape from ARC, for example.

And if Warzone maps still don’t work with BTB for some reason, I’d also be more than happy with remakes of fun Reach maps such as Rasu and Delta Facility and Asphalt.

This, I agree with. I’m satisfied with Halo 5’s current maps, and I’d rather have 343 fix glitches such as the one with the Voices of War announcers.

A good one

The only map I feel is a true halo 5 map is plaza with all the skilled jumps needed to get around well. I think this is the only map made properly around halo 5s mechanics. I think that in order to get a proper feeling halo map in halo 5 is to design a map around h5 movement mechanics ( not older halo maps as the mechanics aren’t there so I think the two conflict ) but give it the older halo art style , the colours the vibrancy has been lost for sterile, clean robotic quite a plain look . Coliseum plays well but doesn’t really feel like halo to me because of its colour schemes , it’s plain , it’s lost that futuristic colour filled look and been replaced by a very promethan look , grey / steel colour , floating bits , simplistic clean lines look . Doesn’t contain any heart or soul. Bland .

I can think of many warzone maps that have clear distinctive sides. That’s actually the point of most warzone maps.

They need less forge maps and more developer made maps.

Not saying the forge maps aren’t fantastic, but they feel artificial compared to examples like molten, mercy, riptide, etc.

We also need developer maps in BTB. Having all BTB maps being forge creations is frankly unacceptable.

They need more campaign inspired maps. Maps based off the canyon and caves of Sanghelios, the city of
Sunaion, or the planet Genesis. H5 has to many remakes/remixes in rotation, especially maps that cater to CQC. Torque is a good example map wise of what I was kinda expecting in the “next gen” Halo. The sites, sounds, and moving environments.

Maps with a story. Props set up in a way so that it tells a tale.

Also a map with some hidden, less obvious routes you could go through.
