I am still on a 55 inch tv and I think upgrading to a monitor would help me a lot. Any suggestions? I have been looking at a 24 inch BenQ for $250. Are BenQs the best?
I play on a 55 inch Samsung, but I do have trouble keeping an eye on the radar. A smaller screen would be better for that reason. One thing I would suggest is to check out all the specs relating to lag. Most computer monitors will not have lag issues that TV’s do.
I played on a 55" SONY until I tried using my roommates monitor. Haven’t played Halo on the SONY since; I just couldn’t take the immediate drop in accuracy. Just bought the ASUS VG245H yesterday from Best Buy for less than $200. From what I heard both ASUS and BENQ use a lot of the same parts, although my source on that is just a youtube video so by all means do not take that as fact. It’s an entry level gaming monitor but perfect for what I use it for. Very easy to adjust the settings and you can adjust its height and angle. Only played a few hours on it last night but I was very happy with it.
EDIT: I plan on buying the Scorpio relatively close to its release date and I didn’t feel like dropping the money for a 4k monitor which is why I went with the entry model. I will cross that bridge next year.

No, but nothing is. Are they generally a solid choice, however? Probably.
The reality is that you can’t really look at one manufacturer and say “these guys are the best” because different monitors are designed for different use cases, different markets, and different price categories, not to mention there’s always going to be variation between models. That said, if you are a gamer who cares more about low input lag than great color reproduction or high resolution, then BenQ does have a solid line-up of monitors for you in their “gaming” branded monitors. So, if gaming is what you’re concerned about, you can’t really go wrong with BenQ.
It’s really just a matter of what you are looking for in the monitor. What do you primarily use it for? Do you expect to use it the same way in the future? What features do you care about? What is your budget? Then when you’ve got these questions figured out, you narrow down your options to whatever fits your needs. Then from whatever options are left, you can choose the one that appeals to you the most on any superficial basis of your choice.
For what it’s worth, I have a BenQ BL3201PT as the primary display. It’s the result of a long decision process to find the best display for my needs. It has many features that most people on this forum would probably find unnecessary, and a size and a price that many would probably find appaling. But it has the best combination of features I find important at a price that I was ready to pay. To this day, there probably doesn’t exist another display more suitable for me. The moral of this story: think what you need, and do your research.
I played on a 75" until July when I got a 30" TV
I have a 19 inch Philips 3000. It’s a little outdated, but it gets the job done.
I play on a 19" monitor, but that was mostly to save money on my part, didn’t want to spend money on a big TV and a computer monitor, so I just use the one monitor for my Xbox and my computer.
I play on a 44" Panasonic Viera plasma screen. Halo looks great in my opinion.
42" LG, I think.

Best advice, thanks man!
55"
50 inch here.
I wonder if future Halo games will be in 4K?
I’ve played on 19 inch tv, 23.5 inch monitor, 32 inch tv, 24 inch benq, 43 inch tv, 50 inch tv, and my new asus 24inch monitor will be here in 2 days. Been playing halo since 2001 habitually and idc what you say it’s not really a preference you are going to have the best shot on a smaller fast response time monitor vs a tv of any size. The sweet spot is 23 - 27 inch (32 inch isn’t horrible). Yes your shot might feel good on a 55inch because it’s what your accustom to but if you dedicate a few days 1 week tops to a smaller monitor you will become a better player. If your worried about dropping the cash and being disappointed then buy a entry level gaming monitor ( benq rl2455hm https://www.benqdirect.com/benq-outlet/refurbished-monitors/rl2455hm-refurb.html its a refurbished monitor but it’s 150.00 and it’s perfect for halo 5 or you can go with a asus 24 inch 1ms monitor for under 200.00) i promise it will change your halo life. Amazon.com : Asus this monitor has height and tilt adjustment and it’s on par with benq but a little cheaper than the benq with height and tilt. I can’t stress enough how much you will love a gaming monitor vs a tv. IPS monitors are more expensive if you want one with great picture and low lag but TN panel (ones mentioned previously) monitors are perfect for halo. Please take my advice and you can thank me later lol.
On a side note your woman or parents can have there tv back while you use your small perfect low lag monitor in the corner lol. (U need a headset with these monitors because their speakers are absolute -Yoink-)
Please refrain from bringing back old threads. Why not create your own by pressing that blue button’ Add new topic’. Thanks.
24" BenQ RL2455HM. I love it. I tried using it once with the reaar built in speakers. Don’t…they suck.
When I was in high school and early college I played on a 52" Samsung LCD. The imput lag was never noticable until later on, and I hated how much there was. It is an old TV, though. Perhaps down the road I will upgrade to a 27 or 32 inch.

Hi. Next time just report the post or PM the user instead please.
Let us decide if threads should be locked or not. As it stands, I’m fine with this one being brought back.
Thanks!

No I was talking about starting a new thread. What Itz P1nky did was to either in his browser find this thread or through waypoint and comment on this year old topic. I was referring to the decision which is that of making your own thread, commenting on a pre-existing thread is a completely different thing.
A rather nice 42 inch television that was a birthday gift from my SO a couple of years ago. It replaced a rather dinky 19 inch television that was all I could afford when the previous one had broken.
Anyway since this is the new tv thread, I have a 40 inch samsung smart which sits nicely between two walls. I have it set to game mode which is useful.
