What should I expect at Midnight launch?

Going to Midnight lanch at 11:00 Monday and I was wondering what would I be experiencing or see people doing? This is my 1st time goign to a midnight laucnh

Depending on how effective your retailer is, I wouod go earlier. Other than that it is pretty standard. Expect to stand and be cold.

You should be seeing alot of people talking, eating and inside of the store halo 4 nothing much.

I dunno if I’ll even bother going to the one near me. I’ve never been to one before, so on one hand it’d be kinda cool to say I did it.

On the other hand, it seems like a lot of standing around and waiting to get the game, come home and only have a few hours to play it before I have to sleep. I’m tempted just to stay in, wake up early on Tuesday and then have the whole day to play.

Outside the fact that gamers are some of the most social beings in society. We talk with other gamers and love to talk about our hobby/passion/life style/obsession/addiction/etc.

Blamn right i’m a nerd.

It depends. I’ve been to two midnight launches around 9:30. What I’ve personally experienced are good times though. Generally people really excited for the game and hype. Definitely love the hype. Those hours before you finally get the game. Also food and tournaments of halo

Possibly rain depending on where you live, and whether the store is indoors or on a street.

I’ve been to a few and all I can say is arrive early. make sure you have everything with you before you go, E.G trade ins. My local store usually opens up at 11 and splits the lines into people who are there for straight forward purchases and people who want to trade in. Everyone is out by just gone 1, if you’re unfortunate enough to not be in by then they’ll tell you to come back the next morning.

What to expect? I’ve only ever been to midnight release at Gamestops, and Funcoland once. I’ve been at the midnight release for Halo 2, 3, ODST, Reach, and Splinter Cell: DA.

I always go with a group of friends, who have all preordered their game at the same GS. We go to a restaurant around 7 and grab a bite to eat, and then after we’re finished, walk over and get in line around 10:30 - 11. Even if you’re not at the front of the line, it always moves fast.

The way GameStop handles their preorders is they leave the store open for those people still needing to pay off their preordered copy. They take everyone’s receipts to verify they’re ready to receive the game at midnight. They’ll give you a special receipt which shows you technically own it already, that way, at midnight, all you have to do is walk in with the line and are handed your copy of Halo 4. It’s a very quick process usually.

It’s a lot of fun to get hyped up and wait in line with 50-250 people who share the your same Halo interests. : )

Hope that helps!

You can expect sweaty people, the threat of ending ruining trolls, people eating with their mouths open dropping crumbs over your shoes and generally shoving you about for an hour or two maybe more.

I never go to them myself for these very reasons… so errr enjoy! lol

Interested about the English version of this. Going to GAME to pick up my console at midnight, but England is a lot more ‘tame’ when it comes to this stuff. Our comic book/Anime/Gaming conventions are always pretty meh since people don’#t really bother to cosplay. Tesco and Asda have hundred of Game fuel bottles for £0.50p just because no one here prepares for games like Americans do.

I don’t want to go at 8-9pm to get a head of a line that simple won’t exist.

Yeah, I think this will be the first midnight launch I’m deliberately refusing to go to. I just hate having to see all the other people who call themselves Gamers. It’s just such a disgraceful sight.

Luckily I reserved my copy at the Gamestop 10 steps from my house so I’m just gonna walk over at 10:00 and pay in full and then stroll back on over at 12:15 to snatch up my copy. Gonna play and beat Halo 3 on Legendary from 10 to 12.

Depends on the area, really. The EB I go to has a 24 hour McDonalds next store, so everyone usually waits in there then mass migrates at 15 til.

Halloween leftovers…

If anyone spoils it for me at the midnight launch I will kill them.

Also beware the spoiler wars.

That’s actually one of the main reasons I go. You hear people’s voices over the mic but don’t know who they are or what they look like. I always get impressions of what people are like on the game I’m playing, and if I go to a midnight release for that game I get to either surprise myself at how normal other gamers actually are, or confirm that they’re awkward little geeks etc. Either way it’s amusing for the half-hour-or-so wait in line.
